What I'm trying to figure out is how this improves our depth and athleticism, two things Jeff Van Gundy SPECIFICALLY said we needed desperately this offseason. This DECREASES our depth AND our athleticism. And we get WEAKER at a position where we were already incredibly weak - power forward. This makes zero sense as is.

 

CD is such a garbage GM. He's hit a new low in his drafting stupidity.

Chances are Houston is trying to work something else or is hesitating to agree with the trade. Haven't you guys realized Stern hasn't even ANNOUNCED the trade yet... The trade is PROPOSED

Didn't get a chance to read the whole thing so somebody might've brought this up already. I have a feeling the Chronicle just randomly mentioned Swift because his salary is nearly identical to Battier's.

Nonethtless, it doesn't work cap-wise. Swift and Battier's salaries are identical, but Battier is a BYC player, and both teams are over the cap. Swift's contract is MUCH more than 115%+100,000+(Battier's salary/2).

If we're really trading Swift and Gay to Memphis, we have to be taking another salary along with Battier's...a small one.

Roger that. People are freaking out for no reason. My understanding is that the full details of this deal aren't going to be revealed until July 12th. Unless and until we learn what all is involved in this trade, it's a little early to be going ballistic like this.

Besides, I figure the Stromile haters would be ecstatic at the possibility of getting rid of him.

As for the occasional remark in this thread talking about the Rockets bungling draft after draft... yeah, I'm still upset at how badly they bungled the 2002 and 2005 drafts.
