I agree Reed shouldn't be playing traditional point guard but he's still developing it's his first playoff experience and he's playing out of position. He needs to improve but I'm not going to dismiss the guy because he's making mistakes. Our team is just in a bad spot. No FVV. No Adams. KD hurt. Just sucks. If anyone gets the boot it's Stone.
Everybody should be available. Watching Castle and Harper cooking the Blazers on the road to the tune of 60 combined points and great defense tells me we really don't have "that guy". Our players lack the skills and aggression to be great. While Reed, Amen, Jabari are young, Castle and Harper are even younger, so no more excuses. Im ready for the rebuild II. One day, we will hit on the draft picks.
I'm not in favor of trading Reed at all costs, but I don't see how he's going to continue on this team next season once FVV comes back. If there's one thing this season has shown us, it's that this team will only go as far as our PG will take us. And FVV/Reed at the point is not gonna cut it. FVV needs to be the back up and we need a major upgrade at the starting PG position. If we get a larger PG (+6'4), I could see Reed staying and playing more SG. Otherwise, he'll be 3rd string PG, which is a waste of his talent
He should be traded but not just for the reason OP stated if you have 10 first round picks in 5 years and none of them are developing like you hope at some point you have to wonder why teams like the spurs have the opposite luck
A top 3 pick shouldn't be developing. He should already be playing like a vet by now. Reed ain't it. Is time for the team to move on from him and from Eason too.
Exactly duh. That is what a shooter does, sometimes shoot well other times looks like crap. He is NOT a score he is just a shooter
He is basically Brent Price, with a slight upside. Not sure why the Rockets drafted him knowing his size deficiency. We could have had Castle.
Nobody is saying Reed played well, but he’s basically in his 1st season of real minutes and is 21. Not to mention kid is playing with the flu. it’s downright idiotic to say that and follows a pattern of using him and others as a scapegoat what the rockets need more than anything is a competent coach. Udoka is likely the worst coach the rockets have ever had. There is a collective cluelessness on the offensive side of the ball that makes you wonder if the rockets have ever placed an emphasis on scoring the basket and not just defending. They barely scored 80 points yesterday In 2026..
But, he ain’t wrong. The hope was that Reed or Amen could eventually become the point guard longterm. This season really showed that they both have shortcomings for that position. So, we really do need to address that issue. I really don’t want to see Amen or Reed running point anymore. Amen can’t shoot and doesn’t have the instincts of a true point guard. Reed has some point guard instincts, but he’s too slow and too small for an NBA point guard.
probably for the same reason that we went into the trade deadline two years in a row with a glaring need and didn’t address it. It’s front office competency
Yes, Sheppard should go in a package for Giannis or Kawhi. His 10 mil contract should help balance deals. He’s a young player with potential and relatively a wildcard or unknown in terms of what kind of a player he will mature into and the time to trade him is now
Honestly, it would be what is best for Reed if the Rockets traded him to a more serious organization that has a competent head coach. Of course, it would be what is best for the Rockets if they just kept Reed and got that competent head coach themselves....but we can't expect miracles.
Trade a promising player on a rookie contract which may be your last straw to get something out of this sad rebuild is pure stupidity
