my favorite part: For your convenience, I have also taken the trouble of calculating the differences. Pre-Trade Post-Trade Difference Kings 36% 30% -6% Rockets 52% 33% -19% Knicks 36% 30% -6% i can do 36-30 and 52-33 in my head...
hahah.. but seriously, thank you taking the trouble of calculating the differences. I kinda feel bad for the guy.
Are you kidding me? As someone just said, this wasn't a win now trade. You're making a long-term assessment of the deal after a month. This trade was supposed to set us up for next year and the year after that. Not improve our win total after a month. Now I can understand why people say that you're the worst poster here.
Impressive statistical analysis! Morey is sending you an invitation to next year's MIT Sports Conference as we speak. BTW...Injuries. Just sayin'.
Rockets in 2010 before the trade: 8-12 (.400) Rockets in 2010 after the trade: 3-6 (.333) The difference I have painstakingly calculated: -.067 Now this is debating with substance! Cold, hard facts! Statistically significant data samples! I had to open up calculator for this!
This is really funny. Detailed Statistical Analysis? All you did was take 2 winning percentages and then subtract the difference.
Also we will have a hard time resigning landry to an extension after next year. Does not make sense to keep scola and landry for the long term.
Congratulations. This is the most idiotic thread this year. You might as well have said: Since the trade, it has rained more, which is evidence that God is crying because he disapproves of the trade.
yea due to the injuries, time necessary to gel, and the constant changing rotations due to injuries, the stats really aren't convincing enough to say that "because of the trade, we are losing more"... there is way more than that going on.
Was listing another reason why the trade was a good one for the rockets. We would have had a hard time keeping both landry and scola under contract after next year.
people need stop overrating lowry and ariza around here... i mean seriously, we were sucking with them before they went out, why do ppl think there will be much of a difference when they get back ? plus the fact i dont think there is enough ball to go around for brooks, martin, and ariza. if ariza doesnt get his shots he just starts chucking as soon as he touches the ball and that will surely only make things worse.
To be fair to the OP, your first point is moot. The point of a statistical analysis is to detect significant deviations from the norm. If by struggling you meant losing games, then apparently you were wrong. Apparently we weren't losing as much as we are now; hence the -19%. This is the point of statistics. But either way the OP's grasp of stats is too dubious to trust this so called analysis. So let's take it with a grain of NaCl.
See that's not the point. No one is overrating anyone. The key factor is this: This team wins games when EVERYONE is around. Even when Trev is not having an awesome game, he makes 2 or 3 plays on defense that helps the team. When Kyle is shooting 2-9, he is still a major spark off our bench. I'm not saying these guys are superstars/all-stars or what have you, but realize what team this is. This isn't the Lakers with Kobe to bail us out. This is a squad who needs everyone healthy to push them over the top vs. their opponent on any given night. Stop using the word overrated around here so much. It really shows lack of knowledge, because its ALL most of you people seem to do on this board. Did you just learn the word yesterday and it makes you feel smart? Cut it out, it's getting old.
