Simmer down Jethro ... I just threw Warner's name out there. Simply replace the name Warner with any other free agent QB, and you'll get the point I was trying to make. As for what about the Cowboys supposed franchise QB they draft a couple of years ago ... Quincy Carter? Jerry already said in the press conference (announcing Parcells the head coach) that he made mistakes. Everyone know Quincy is garbage and is one of Jerry's biggest mistakes. As for Parcells bringing in a vet QB or a rookie QB (not both as suggested) ... again Jerry has already admitted to making mistakes. Not sure if Hutch was a mistake but even the simplest of minds would know that Dallas has a better shot at turning Leftwich into a franchise QB than they are at turning Hutch into one. Parcells has also drafted QB's in the 1st round at his last two stops (New England, New York Jets) while also bringing in a vet QB. Dallas will have to trade up of course if they want Leftwich. Dallas won't be able to get him at #5. The draft order is ... 1. Cincy - Carson Palmer 2. Detroit - Charles Rogers 3. Houston - ??? 4. Chicago - Byron Leftwich 5. Dallas - ??? Houston would be the team Dallas has to trade with (hence the title of this thread) since they are one spot ahead of the Bears. If a trade is not possible or doesn't happen I expect Dallas to draft Terrell Suggs.
Dallas also has an interest in some small school (maybe somewhere in KS) CB many are comparing to Champ Bailey. Again may be a smokescreen to hide their interest in a QB. That is a definite need (CB) for Dallas.
A lot of people are comparing him to Phillip Buccanon of the Raiders. If he's that good and he is drafted by the Cowboys then Dallas will have one of the best secondaries in the NFL for years to come. Newman - Roy Williams - Derek Ross - all they would need is a free safety.
