If Hayes an play the 4, i'm convinced hunter or Booth can man the spot also. Maybe JVG like limited players that play hard like hayes and bowen, but when you have any injuries, it really comes out. In the offseason i though they should at least have a lorenzen wright or even get in the magloire trade, but they went with hayes. I think if you're going to have a hayes type guy, you might as well get kenny thomas or malik rose who have some offensive game and shoot ft's better. It just seems like they kind of short circuit the team with these limited role guys. At least get a guy with some size. I like booth, magloire or hunter just someone that can man the spot and do something till ming gets back. that play should also be able to play the 4. I would like to see booth or wright the more i think about it.

Luther is off limits unless the offer is very, very Tmpting. it has to be an borderline allstar for us to Bite. after the big two, Head is third in the pecking.

we really should consider Sweetney! he's on the contract year and the loaded Bulls not even playing him. this kid got game, he'd replace Yao perfectly for 6 weeks if given chance to showcase his skills for this contract year, he could easily give you 18/8/1.5 per 38min. I don't think Sweetney's in Bulls' plan for the future, Thomas is their future. I think our T.E. + two 2nd rounders for Sweetney are good for both parties; the Bulls got some picks and a T.E. to work with future trades; we got Sweetney for this season and the rights to match any offer for Sweetney in the summer.

come playoff time we'd got a line-up of:

    Yao Ming, Hayes, Mutombo
    Sweetney, Howard, Padgget
    S. Battier, Wells, Novak
    McGrady, Snyder, VSpan
    L. Head, Allston, JL3

(yeah, I think Head should be the starting PG with T-Mac in the line-up)

    I like the Webber idea.

All the criticisms are right but for the minimum if he comes here (and that's all we have to offer) he brings:

    - Excellent rebounding
    - Good to great passing
    - Decent scoring

Even if he brings nothing else, at the minimum, that's a bargain. Basically, if you wipe away memory of his whole career and watch him recently, your assumption would be:

"Not bad. Good for some minutes on a team, worth a few million. Brings a few polished skills to the table."

That's not taking into account the experience he has gathered over the years.

To be fair, with Andre Miller at PG he looked pretty good the other day. Has a big man ever been a succesful scorer with Iverson handling the ball?

But if you're paying him 20M, then he's obviously looking like crap.

Signing Webber to the minimum and Sura coming back would be good. It wouldn't turn anything around, but if each of them can contribute 15-20 minutes as emergency rotation players with good energy, then it is EXCELLENT for us.

Regardless, this team has some options that need to be pursued. I'm sure we can squeeze some more production out of this team if we re-located a few of our bench players to PG and C. More balance means better depth.

Isn't he a defensive liability though?

At the minimum, you'regetting some kind of liability no matter who you sign.

In this case, we're getting more than scoring. We're getting passing and rebounding.

Anyone who can play both sides of the ball makes at least 5M.

I wonder whether it would be good for both teams to trade

    Bob Sura's expiring contract
    Juwan Howard

    for

    Jamal Crawford
    Jerome James

Mike Bibby is rumored to be on the move... and that's the one guy I'd like to see in Rockets jersey. :)

Concur. However, what do we have to offer for Bibby .... or even Andre Miller .... that the Kings or Sixers would covet? And please don't include a first rounder -- that move mortgages our future, which we already have done with the Rudy Gay trade.

I like the idea also. However, I just dont see us getting this deal done though.

Webber brings some limited skills; I know that. But we are already playing PF by commitee. It would be nice to have someone else be able to take on Hayes minutes.

He is so bad on offense even Gene Peterson said, "If I was coach, I would make him do 200 layups after every game."

It would be nice to have someone who had at least a 50% chance to make a layup. Lets face it, Howard cant play all the minutes at PF all season. He will get hurt too.

The only guy that they would be willing to take is Head. Would you do that?

    Nope.

And I doubt that trade is possible w/o some serious salary matching additions from our side.
