Kenny is a great player but we dont need him anymore if we could get somebody like J.Jeffries/Q.Woods/N.Tskitishvili for him it would be great .Griffin never got along with Kenny and i dont remember one game when their both played good together , so i think that the best solution for us would be trading Kenny+#15 for a good SF .
KT is NOT A THREE!! Come on guys, he sucked playing the 3 last season. Pros for KT: • good work ethic • quick first step • is usually effective cutting to basket • nice hook off glass Cons for KT: • wants starter minutes, or whines • plays selfish ball • would rather spin into 3 defenders, then pass the ball • shoots a lot of bricks from (near) 3 point land • to short to handle taller SF's & PF's in the west • will hurt EG development (minutes), when KT went down EG showed he could be a 20/10/4 PF in the league. Him & KT just do not have any chemistry on the court together. • slows the game down, and loves the ISO game (see guards) Regardless if Ming makes a impact his first 3 years, we are in desparate need of a SF that can handle point duties (odom type), is a hard nose defender (see butler), and shoots lights out from near 3 point land (see Dunleavy). KT does not fit any of those descriptions (for a 3), and if he & the #15 can bring in a veteran SF (or top 10 pick), then this is the summer to trade him. If we could dump Taylor, then KT would make a great backup PF to Griffin. But we all know that he will never go for that.
From what I saw at the NCAAs Jeffires was much better than Dunleavy. He's more of a PF, than a SF, but come on, the guy practically took Indiana to the final game all by himself, while Dunleavy had so much help on his team. Jefires just suffers from the "last impression" syndrom, most people remember him just for the last game against Maryland, where he got a bit flustered. He got bad press, since many writers saw it as opportunity to pound again the old "leaving college early is baaaaad" song, which is total BS. Did anyone watch the Duke-Indiana game?
You could be right, but I am thinking Kwame is more of a 5. Also, I can't see them thinking Laettner or Jones is going to do much in the near term or long term. Also, Jordan they have at best for 1 more year and perhaps a part time at that KT would immediately be their most physical and probably best overall SF after him. Not only does Etan Thomas appear closer to a bust than an adequate back-up even if they are still hopeful there is no way he can play the 3 like KT can. KT's 3/4 versitility (create mismatches against a fair number of teams in the East) could really help. If I am them would I rather have say Jeffries (if he stays on the board), Nachbar (if his stock is rising), Woods, Stoudamire (really little use for them), or Bordchart (little use) over KT (who would surely help them more the next 2 years than anyone they could draft) and say Frank Williams or Nachbar? Honestly, if I am them I probably take the tough Williams (who might be the guy they want anyone) plus KT. In fact if I am the Rockets I only do this if we are real confident the man we really want at 11 (be it Jeffries, Nachbar or Woods most likley) won't be there at 15. They have kind of shot themselves with the Grant contract, who at this point in his career is less effective than Kenny irregarless of cost. However, kind of like with Washington, KT could mainly man the 3 for them where their current PFs have no chance. Miami needs youth and talent everywhere (even more in the smaller 3 positions)--where they would do KT, Collier and #15 (Nachbar, Haislip, Rush, F. Williams, Stoudamire) for like Gatling and #10 (giving up a shot at someone like Woods, Bordchart, Jeffires, Tiski or Nene) I don't know. As with the Wiz, if they are dead set of fielding a more comptitive team next year KT and the #15 would be the better route. I do see the point DD brought up. Do ya'll think KT's value is higher now or mid-season next season? I think his value will be the same or lower mid-season--because we may be scambling (team may know we may lose him and just look to get him via FA). He could always just play out the season and sign with the Lakers (who had their sites on him before we drafted him) for the MCE or the like which would be terrible all the way around. Also, I think given we have an extra decent (and totally unexpected) pick (#15) and the solid SF prospects in the 9-13 draft range it is a good time to move up. Not having to move up to get our #1 guy (say if we drew #2 and Chi was playing with us) really allows us to play with #15 and a good young player happing to play where we have some depth but little excellence.
I agree with you Kayman. Though nobody thinks Jeffries can handle as well as Dunleavy (which is true), but he has a lot of other advantages and some comparable elements to his game. I would be much more comfortable throwing out Jeffries defensively on WC SFs than Dunleavy right now. Instead of being beat by strength, length and quickness, at least Jeffries has length over anyone except KG and stacks up better in the strength department than MD. I don't think Jeffries will be able to guard SFs right away as well as Butler and Gooden can (Gooden--another victim of the "ignore the whole last year evaluate on the first 3 quaters of his last game prospect"-- is a PF on offense but he sure could guard most SFs very well), but both of whom will be gone, Jeffries may be as good as anyone else to guard WC 3s after those guys. Also, Jeffries 3% (on 71 shots--not insignificant), FG, FT, and APG are virtually idenitical to Dunleavy's. I don't think there is near as much difference in these players offensive ability as the mock drafts indicate. Of course recognize I am one of the chief Dunleavy skepics around here, but I think Jeffries would be a steal after the 10 pick.
Trade KT + 15 for 10 and you need a backup PF you say? Well, Aaron McGhee in the second round would take care of that. McGhee is a sleeper pick. He will be better than KT in my opinion, but hey, I'm a Sooner fan so you can't take me seriously. But in all seriousness, McGhee is a pretty good offensive player but needs work on his defense. But so did KT when he came out.
