I'm sorry but I just don't see why the Rockets are that intent on keeping Mo Taylor. I guess if he's saying he's not going to whine for a max contract, fine. But keeping him at the max would be a huge mistake. The guy is not a hustle player (anyone his size who IS a hustle player gets at least 10 to 12 boards a night). Sure he can shoot but I'd call him streaky at best, and his post-up game is sorely lacking. We already have guards that can shoot the lights out. We need a solid post player and rebounder more than a face-the-basket oversized guard. The Rockets will look like idiots if they resign Mo for the max. I know this is a little off topic but all the talk about keeping Mo has me a little worried about salary cap problems down the road, that's all. ------------------
Now he said he had great respect for the guy who is involved. I actually think it's Dream (who doesn't have respect for him?) Others that are respected would be Steve, Cuttino, Shandon(maybe) but none of those guys are leaving anytime soon so I guess Dream is involved. I don't know why they would want to trade KT and Los' for a rebounding PF when they are just that. ------------------ Miggidy Markell says: 1. Eastcoast is da sh*t 2. Rockets rule 3. It's Shaq, shhh don't tell nobody This thread can die as far as I'm concerned,no offense Tacoma Park Legend and thanks for the scoop but with the info we have all we can do is speculate at this time. And it's becoming little more than a dreamcasters paradise. ------------------ Now chew through my ball sack
Huh? Did the announcer actually suggest that it was down to "player for player"? Is there a transcript or link to this conversation? ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
It's not Jerome Williams. That's the only thing I know 100%. There's a lid very tight on this because talks have already cooled. I have no idea who it is, but this is legit: there is (or was) a "who". I wish I knew more... I really, really do. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET

First off, I'm not sure why we would need to go after a PF at this time with the way MO has been playing lately. He seems to be getting better as the season goes along & KT has improved also (albeit not consistently yet). The SF & center positions are the biggest question marks. Now, having said that a Dream for Garnett deal would change everything. Rudy has a lot of respect for both players, Garnett is a young PF that would make an immediate impact. Minnesota needs manuevering room to retool their team. Maybe, this is going to be the annual blockbuster trade. Wishful thinking, I know. You could probably trade Dream/MO/draft picks for Garnett. I haven't checked the salaries yet, but I know we would have to throw in another player with Dream to equal Garnett's salary. Sending MO along with Dream would leave us with KT, since MO would leave for sure next year. Or, how about Dream/Walt/draft picks for Garnett. Then we could play Garnett at SF. WOW, what a line up! Nah, there's no way we could get so lucky as to landing Garnett, but then again, who would've guessed we could've gotten Drexler? ------------------
Hey Miggidy Markell tycoonchip was just kidding. Though Rodman could be a good pickup. . .J/K Seriously why does everyone still think Mo will ask for the max? His AGENT asked for the max, if Mo wants to stay, and it looks like he might, all he has to do is tell his agent to negotiate a respectable contract. The whole "max" thing was just a psychological ploy against the Clippers. ------------------ "I have a scale at home and it only goes up so far, I love that scale!" - Charles Barkley TNT Studios
I just got off the phone with my contacts in Dallas who are telling me Clutch is correct. There was a who. It is Dallas. And it doesn't take too much to figure out after that what is happening. Dallas wants Dream for the playoffs. And they don't care about Bradley and Laettner. We want Donnell Harvey, and Bradley and Laettner are FA's this summer, so we don't lose the Dream windfall. Basically, we get Donnell for free.
The guy mentioned rebounding specifically. If this involved someone like Kevin Garnett or Antawn Jamison, rebounding skills would not have been the only thing he would have mentioned during the broadcast. I'm guessing it's a big body and a rebounding specialist, much like Dennis Rodman or Jerome Williams. SamCassell, I can speak Spanish (sorta). But, why surprised? Aren't there a lot of Spanish speaking people in Houston anyway? ------------------ Nederland 2002 Rocketman95 on board. Check out his latest game recaps.
Why does it seem like this is easily going to escalate into the Rockets acquiring Shareef? CD: Is Othella available? BK: Shareef? Oh Shareef is available. CD: I, uhhh... oh. Sounds good, send 'im right over. Is this how the monster trades of yesteryear (all of the trades we've been spoiled on) have come about? Ineptitude? Luck? Persistence? I think it's CD's charm... he was kind enough to chat w/ me at the Revue... he even introduced his wife, and I'm noone. He could coax the Chic-Fil-A cow to be patriotic and jump on the grill. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
if we trade dreamt hat would honestly make us look really damn stupid. if hakeem leaves let him leave on his own terms as we have stated before.unless it is some blockbuster trade such as acquiring garnett then isuggest we keep our hands tied behind our a$$es. no itchy trigger fingers... what i would only like to see is happening is maybe a trade involving kt walt and any other player except francis anderson mobley dream and maybe motaylor. i'd even throw cato into the package. then we'd could have francis mobley and anderson start. then mutombo and hakeem as pf and c. these two would a deadly shot blockin combo. especially during a last minute clutch defensive play. if not we can have mutombo off the bench and if you are worried about him slowing down the offence then by all means let's just start the offence without him. we have mobley shootin enough shots to make up for mutombo .... but that is just a suggestion. let's not make a trade to dallas unless they want to give us either dirk nowitzki or finley... ------------------ "Wahooo"-homer I'm not only a fan but I'm also the bartender at clutchcity chat For the last time I'm not Tybrave!!!!!
Tycoon, What if Hakeem supports this trade to Dallas? Based on what Ive read on this site this season, I get the feeling that Hakeem would have no qualms finishing his career on a playoff team that could have a shot at making some serious noise with his addition to the squad. The Rockets would probably oblige him except for the fact that they didnt want to lose their windfall. This deal allows them to maintain almost all of their cap room since Laettner and Bradley are FAs and makes a whole lot of sense for both sides. The Rockets are still clearly a good 2 yrs away from any serious noise in the playoffs and should take the opportunity to add a quality young player esp when he is making under 1 mil a season. Kudos to HP on the tip. Just in case anyone hasnt seen Harvey play, here is a breakdown of his skills. Harvey is a very hard worker and excellent rebounder who plays with a lot of heart. He has the Jerome Williams/Brian Grant type of hustle and really is an animal rebounder under the glass. He has very long arms (7-6 wingspan) and excellent hands. The areas of his game he needs to improve on are his offensive skills as he is very raw on that end, and he needs to add bulk to his frame. I felt he came out too early and due to that decision, his draft position fell (still was a first rounder tho). If he had waited till after his junior season, he would have been a likely top 10 pick imho. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
I'm told it's not Dallas. They may have had some talks with them but this rumor apparently isn't them (though Harvey makes the most sense as a young rebounder). I'm starting to believe very strongly it's Othella Harrington. Three-way with Vancouver/Chicago with Houston being the smallest player? Othella to Houston. Bibby to Chicago... No idea if that is accurate or not but it is the best one I've heard so far. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited January 06, 2001).]
If it IS Othella, there must be something else to it. What would we do with Othella if we already have Mo, KT and ´Los? My guess is that a combination of KT and ´Los, Wiz would be sent somewhere else. What would we get in exchange? I´m not sure, but it HAS to be a 3. ------------------ "I have posted so much that what I say must be true"
