Croshere would be a nice addition but he just doesnt seem to fit the description and his salary is not desirable.Somebody mentioned Al Harrington and he is a nice young player but from the interview I got the feeling the kind of player Chavarria was talking about would be an immediate impact player for this team and Harrington would not be that, Croshere maybe but he just doesnt seem like a guy who would help out in the rebounding department a whole lot.

Nope all he said was that the rocks were trying to acquire a young guy to help them in the rebounding department. Im not sure when the trade deadline is, but I'm guessing if they were gonna pull a trade they would do it soon rather than in the offseason, who knows.

Play-by-play guy specifically said the PF would help with our rebounding, so ....

    Jerome Williams?

He's on the block, but do the contract numbers add up?

But, given (tried and true hammy joke) that the Rockets have no vcr, I'm sure that they were impressed by Ben Wallace's rebounding last night.

A guy like Jerome Williams makes a lot more sense. If it were a back up guy, that would seem more plausible to me simply because he becomes your compliment to Taylor - a tough defensive rebounder off the bench.

A trade that would work would be Thomas and Rogers for Williams. Would you guys do that deal?

Personally, I would. With Jerome Williams, you get a guy who can defend and rebound at the 4 and, for short periods of time, at the 5. You don't hurt Taylor's chances of continued development because Williams is not a threat to start. Plus, it frees him up with Williams doing the dirty work.

Williams is averaging 7.7 boards in about 24 minutes per game. Moving Rogers to Detroit would make him happy - he'd be going back home. Detroit would get a young guy in Thomas who can develop behind Joe Smith or give them an option if Smith leaves.

The Rockets get a fairly young guy (28) who can rebound and play some defense. His contract won't hurt the Rocks in their negotiations with Taylor or Anderson because he isn't a strain on the salary cap.

As for the other Williams, I don't think we could or would trade Walt for a 4 because it would leave a GIANT hole at the 3. He is in a slump now, but he is still a body. If Anderson got hurt, we would be in deep at the 3. If we moved Walt, we would have to get a quality 3 in return and there isn't much out there.

To me, Jerome Williams makes sense. He isn't a star at the 4 but the Rockets may believe that Taylor is their star of the future at that spot. If so, Williams makes sense and begins to solidfy that position, with Taylor signed, for a while.

    How about...

Raef LaFrentz - Kenny Thomas, Carlos Rogers
(Owner supports coach. Coach and player have problems.)

Antonio Davis - Walt Williams, Kenny Thomas
    (Expressed dis-like of current team.)

Stromile Swift - Kenny Thomas, Carlos Rogers
    (No playing time.)

    Brad Miller - Walt Williams
    (Why not?)

Reason for trading Williams? Anderson is more productive at the SF position than Williams.

Please oh please let it be Jerome Williams.

I think he would be the perfect fit for the Rockets. He's just what we need - a tough, rugged, mean S.O.B who brings in the boards and does all the dirty work down low.

Unleash the iron S.O.B! Unleash Jerome Williams!

Damn, whoever said Jerome Williams I think your right. He is a great defender and just might have the best rebound to minutes played ratio in the league. He would be perfect for this team. I know he impressed Rudy with his play last year against the rocks and I hear he was in the doghouse before he got on the injured list in detroit. Also I believe he has fallen in the rotation behind John Wallace so I think he is expendable. If thats not enough, he and Steve are VERY good friends since they got acquainted with each other at the all star game so he would not have a problem fitting in with this team. I pray its jerome.

Now that I think of it, it makes alot of sense to pick up Jerome. With Carlos mad about his playing time and him being a detroit native, as a favor to Carlos from the rockets organization they might trade him to Motown.I heard he was interested in playing there next year anyway and with Detroit not getting any quality play from their centers they just might bite on this trade. We're already set at center with Dream, who may likely play another season, Cato(who I havent given up on yet), and collier who at least has the body to not get knocked around down there.

So he said they were targeting a player specifically or just generally that the Rockets are trying to acquire a young power forward (as in they are always trying, but nothing is on the burner)?

If I had to take a guess mine too would be Jerome Williams. Other names that would fit: (no, not saying the respective teams are willing to part with these players, just that they all fit the mold of young rebounder)

Ben Wallace, Antoine Walker, Aaron Williams, Theo Ratliff, Raef LaFrentz, Tony Battie, Othella Harrington, Lorenzen Wright

Not necessarily young, but: Antonio Davis, Clarence Weatherspoon, Bo Outlaw, Dale Davis

Clutch, he said they were targeting a specific player but he couldnt give the name of that player due to respect for the guy he got the trade leak from, a higher up in the rocks organization.

Jerome Williams would be a perfect fit for the Rockets. He's a 10 rebound a game guy for this team. I really do hope like hell Jerome Williams is the player we are interested in.

TacomaParklegend, I remember at last years All-Star break when Jerome Williams was the lone emotional supporter of Steve Francis while everybody else was rooting for Vince Carter...I thought that was pretty damn cool of him.

Jerome Williams and Steve Francis both grew up in Maryland.

Don't get me wrong, because the thought of getting Jerome Williams is EXTREMELY exciting.

But I don't know how I really feel about this. If it does involve KT, are we really that ready to give up on this guy? I think he has shown a LOT of growth in this just his second season. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely a good idea in the short-term, but I would hate to see KT become a very good power forward if it wasn't in the pajamas.

It's probably just cuz I like the guy. Oh well, just speculation, anyways....

The thing is do the Rockets believe that KT will every supplant Taylor as the starting PF. If not, then getting Williams in place of him would really be smarter than keeping KT around.

Better to have a defensive rebounding specialist off the bench than an undersized PF with good footwork and hustle.

I like Thomas a lot but he may just not be on the right team if the Rockets really believe in Mo T. The talk of picking up someone, especially a bench specialist like Williams, would make sense in light of Taylor's improvements over the past few weeks.

Kenny may not even be involved if it went down, but I think Jerome could back up the 4 but would be better as a 3. He has the footspeed, I mean anything at the 3 other than walt is an improvement, and he is great at running the floor. I didnt really think Kenny would be involved, but maybe if they dont think they can resign Joe Smith.I love Kenny to death and if I knew he was involved in the trade then I might think twice, but you never know. I certainly havent given up on Kenny Im just not sure what it would take to get Jerome from Detroit. Any thoughts?

I know I might get flamed for it, but Eduardo Najera. He looked great in the preseason but got hurt and hasn't been able to get back into the rotation because of the great play of Finley and Nowitzki. The reason I say this is because Rudy always liked Eduardo and his work ethic and came real close to actually picking Ed for the Rockets and not the Mavs(per inside source). Any rumor out there is just as realistic so you never know. I would really like to see Fizer become a Rocket in this trade and not Eduardo. We could always deal for Ed in another trade if Rudy really wanted him(my own wishful thinking). Anyway, here's what I think would be great: Shandon and Cato for Fizer. The reason Chicago does this is because it gives them a solid 2 guard and a center who has the potential to be a force on defense(I know, how many times have we said that). We would take on any thrown in to offset Cato's huge contract because I doubt the Bulls would want Cato eating their cap space. We could also trade back the pick(s) they gave us as leverage.
