WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! I am responsible for reply #300! Nothing really to contribute though. ------------------
blah blah blah blah blah. this thread has gotten stupid. Why would the Rockets burden themselves w/ crap on their cap? Noone likes crap on their cap. It reminds me of working at Tommy Condon's Irish Pub back in college. I went to take the trash out and I felt something bounce on my Buffaloes baseball cap. I looked up and saw a pigeon's butt. The pigeon turned around and looked down the building at me. What the hell was he looking at? Do pigeons look to see what happened to their poo all of the time? Did he do it on purpose? Oh yeah, guys... There's a rumor that Shareef might be worth $10 million dollars. I don't buy it. I certainly don't buy any notion of him being worth $20-25 million dollars just to acquire his side-kick Billy Bob. Think about it: Steve Francis... he plays the one. Cuttino Mobley, that's right, the heaver at the 2. Shandon Mobley at the 3 right now is playing at a 140% clip of what the Rockets need from that position. Now Shareef might be able to play the four. So what, he's still not worth $25 million per year. Forget about it. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The Rockets sole responsibility through this upcoming draft, or even trades or in the FA season is to shore up the frontcourt... sure. But the Rockets will most certainly be able to draft a C and a SF. A PF will be able to be acquired through FA. It's ludicrous to think the Rockets will acquire Webber (even though they're the only team other than the Kings that are financially feasible), this is true. However, Mo already has direct deposit set up. Perhaps A. Davis can come down. Who knows. But none of this other **** is worth it. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
Oh yeah, KT for the Kandiman, straight up. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
NOW THIS TRADE I LIKE!! This one's better than the Reef/Reeves deal because: 1. The Rockets increase their talent level, most notably in the form of Crawford and Fizer. In a sense, we would have cleaned out our bench (including Bryce) for 2 lottery picks and a solid backup C. That's a great upgrade! 2. The Rockets rid themselves of Cato and his underachievement. Miller may not have Cato's athleticism or upside, but at least he plays hard. They also don't have to worry about taking on Reeves' even more ridiculous deal. 3. The Rockets can retain their picks in what may be one of the best drafts in recent history. I would love to have Reef, but if that means taking on Reeves' deal AND trading out of the first round, then I would vote for the Rockets to PASS on Reef. Just too high a price to pay, plus there's also the fact that the Rockets may have a chance to draft "Reef, Part 2" (Eddie Griffin). GREAT IDEA, Hottoddie!! ------------------ "ON-BEE-TAH-BULL!!", Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon, alumnus, University of Houston
Since this thread has gotten totally out of hand, I'm hoping to end it by simply saying I hope that any trade the Rockets get involved in includes sending Cato and his overinflated salary and lazy ass outta here. I like Cato because I think he can bring the added excitement, defense and explosiveness we need in the middle, if he wants to play. I've been a Cato supporter for as long as I can and I'm fed up. High ankle sprain or not, I'm pissed! There is a guy in the NFL in the playoffs with a high ankle sprain that he's had for weeks and he's still playing! Cato, get your sorry, lethargic A$$ up off the end of the bench where you've created an A$$ print from sitting for so long and play ball or retire with your fat pay check! ------------------ Go vote for Steve Francis for the All-Star game!! You only have until Sunday!! Vote for Francis!
See, that's the confusion. You're comparing an athletic sport like basketball to a quarterback running around, breaking tackles, cutting back and forth.... oh wait, that's athletic too. It is alot of tape though. Maybe a center couldn't be effective w/ 25" diameter ankles. maybe, maybe no. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
Nbacom posts something about Chicago's interest in Big Country. God knows why. The same article speculates that Chicago must want Shareef. To be honest, Chicago couldn't give up enough to get Reef in return. So, simplify the above scenario in which we get Reef and maybe Brad Miller but lose our picks, and that might be closer to the deal. Of course, everyone's given up o this thread, so I'll go away now. ------------------
No Bull, Jerry Likes Big Country According to the Daily Southtown, Jerry Krause has had ongoing trade talks with several teams, including discussions with Vancouver about center Bryant Reeves. The Grizzlies hope to create some salary-cap flexibility prior to the trade deadline next month, and the Bulls are one of a select few teams in position to take on Reeves' six-year, $65 million contract. Furthermore, the Grizzlies have demanded that Reeves be included in any trade for Shareef Abdur Rahim. If the Bulls are saying they like Reeves, they're likely target must be Rahim.'I don't know what Jerry's priority will be,' Coach Tim Floyd said. 'I do know that Jerry is trying to improve our basketball team, but it takes two to tango. Maybe the other team isn't ready to deal.' While Floyd would not reveal his priorities — 'It could be interpreted as a negative toward somebody on our team,' he said — he acknowledged a need for a third scorer to complement Brand and Ron Mercer. 'It would help us,' Floyd said. 'It really would help us to have a third or fourth scorer. It would help everybody.' ------ This is a startling development. We all know that reef has said that he WON´T go to another rebuilding program, and the Bulls are in far worse shape than the Grizzlies themselves. this DEFINETLY looks intersting as far as a 3 way deal goes. I´ll let someone else do the thinking, but i don´t see chicago giftwrapping Reef to us. Something´s up. ------------------ "I have posted so much that what I say must be true"
LOL. one question though... aren't bobos those bisexual chimpanzees in the congo? ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
No, they're like Pat from SNL. They don't know what they are, nor does anyone else. ------------------
I'd rather have Cato get completely healthy then start playing. Would you rather have him play while injured & then reaggravate that injury & do furthur damage to it? They said Cato had the flu this past week, so I dont think the ankle is keeping him out right now. He should be back real soon. ------------------ When 1 door closes another 1 open; but we so often look so long & so regretfully on da closed door, that we dont see the ones that be opening for us - alaskanSnowman
Okay, its been exactly a week since Clutch posted last in this thread. ------------------ SUCK POLICE!!!!!! To point out individuals or teams that have managed to reach the pinnacle of SUCKINESS!!!!! ----- JAZZ SUCK!!!!!!!
Well, Clutch was right that something had to go through first. The Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets had a six player trade, which included the young rebounding power forward Keon Clark. I wouldn't be surprised if he was our man. ------------------ http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/houstonrockets2000
You cant give up Shandon. You just cant -- its more than him on the line (reason enough, in my opinon), but our credibility on the free agent market. Shandon stays and gets his money -- we cant torch our reputation by sending him to the Siberia Bulls. The problem is Cato, it would appear. We need to deal him quick. AND...Thought you guys might like to know that Chucky Brown will be a Warrior by Monday. www.chuckybrownfanclub.com WE"RE BACK AND HE IS IN OUR BACKYARD. SEE YOU ON TV ON THURSDAY! Shandon is staying put. He ain´t going anywhere, the Rockets aren´t nuts. So here we stand, tonight we have a home game, exactly one week after Clutch´s post about the trade that was about to go down in a week or so. What do you guys thought of Reeves 31 point outing last night? Looks like he is making a case for getting out of the rockies too. Shandon is flourising at the 3, but i suppose he could split the 3 with Reef and Reef could split the 4 with Mo. That would enable us to part with both KT and Walt, leaving a line-up of... C: Cato/Reeves/Collier PF: Mo/Reef/Los SF: Reef/Shandon/Langhi SG: Shandon/Mobley PG: Francis/Moochie if cato ever becomes what he is supposed to be, that´s a championship contender, no doubt about it. i´m rooting for this one all the way. ------------------ "I have posted so much that what I say must be true"
Thats great to see good ole Chucky play. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
Roxtxia, Any trade for Shareef will be for cap space, otherwise, why would you trade such a talent? ------------------
Here I am again. Got to mention: Crawford and Fizer didn't play last night. (Well, Fizer: 6 minutes.) On to Vancouver, guys? Maybe we'll just keep Hakeem and send Cato and Walt and a pick for Shareef? Even if it doesn't work straight up, we have a small trade exception from the Drew trade. We could then keep some cap space next year to re-sign Shandon and Mo. Clutch, are you smiling and shaking your head?
