is Ariza not done for the season though?

interesting to see how he bounces back from the knee. Was just starting to look good.

I'd love this trade. Though I'd miss Head's shooting.

Jefferies gives the Rockets a BADLY NEEDED athletic 6 ft 10 guy. We need someone like this to match-up with the likes of Phx and Dal, who will throw guys like Diaw and Josh Howard at us, who we have NO ANSWER for currently.

Lee is a taller Hayes, something that is once again, BADLY NEEDED, in the West where all the PF's we will face will be 6 ft 9 and taller.

Ultimately, I think our ability to defend Phx and Dal's size/athleticism combo will make or break us in the playoffs more than Head's spot-up shooting.

I'm of the logic that the Rockets won't win the West without beating one of or both Phx and Dal. As such, we'll need to shape our roster to help beat those 2 teams.

That would be a huge mistake. We'd lose our backup PG & SG and received another (3rd) PF.

I think the trade would obviously help the Rocks but the ONLY way NYK does this is with a couple of picks thrown in -probably a future first and a second. I am sure that we could add some shooting with the TE to replace LH. Doubtful NYK has any interest.

As much as I like David Lee, I would rather see us pick up Chucky Atkins and Najera.

    Mayyybe Dale Davis.

The cost for DL would simply be too high.

Any moves we make are going to have to be about adding without subtracting (too much).

We have two essentially expendable pieces right now, in Sura and Padgett. Move those two somehow for Atkins and Najera, move VMac to inactive along with Snyder and JL3, and we are set for the big dance.

This trade does really benefit the Rockets... Would NY do it?? If so that would be one hell of a trade and a real boost to our inside presence. Not to mention we actually might stand a chance against Phx or Dallas in the playoffs.

We have done the above. That is what acquiring Battier, Snyder and Wells were for. Before when we played the Mavs we had to use Tmac (basically our only athletic forward) on Dirk for too long. Now we have Battier and Tmac with the occassionaly spoting by Hayes and Howard for Dirk. Last year the players with most success on Dirk and Howard were guys like Posey, Haslem, Marion, Diaw, even the smaller B. Bowen, we have a lot more athletic and long pereimeter defenders. I think we match up really well with Diaw and Marion now too. Not so much Amare or Nash, but at least they have to play Amare on Yao to give just as much of a mismatch on the other end.

Also, Head would be a huge loss. Right now our offensive problems are bigger than our defensive ones. Head is our best 3 point shooter of volume and the only high % one of our guards. I agree with the poster if we make an acquisition it should be another guard who can shoot and score from the outside to punish teams overplaying on Tmac and Yao, guys like Atkins, DS, Boykins, etc.

Ariza is too similar to what we already have and utilize in Kirk Snyder. Besides, Ariza actually started a few games for the Magic and played pretty well before getting hurt. I doubt they would want to move him.

snyder's good but not one of the best (perimeter defenders). the point with the magic is they've been sliding since ariza was injured. they were 2nd or 3rd in their conference and are now in danger of slipping out of the top 8.

ariza is most definately a player for the future for them, but then again how much do they want to make the playoffs this year? they need immediate help.
