I think allot of people undervalue head and over value David lee...I don't see how he is too much better then chuck Hayes both of the hustle and can rebound. a few years from now when Luther is having a josh Howard type season and David lee is playing like mark madson we would look back and say we screwed ourselves. I thought rockets fans where smarter then these kinds of trades....this is a very bad trade long term.

so you want to give up our best 3pt shooter for a double double?
im pretty sure the combo of hayes and juwan give us that anyways....

Head is way to valuable, only way i would give up on him is if it involves another superstar.

Yeahhh but who would replace Luther Heads 3 point shooting ability????? and dont forget that he is one of the most clutch 3 point shooters in the Nba when it comes to the 4th

I dont think that JJ would replace that 3 point shooting ability... from what i remember he wasent a good shooter at all... hes just a good Defensive player(which we DONT need, since we are already number 1 in defense) we need good shooters on our team to surround YAO when he comes back and thats what HEAD brings to the Table

This is my first thread btw and it certainly did not start out too well
i thought this is a well thought-out and well balanced trade. the PER is about the same. i sweetened the deal for NYK by taking on the monstrous contract Jared Jeffries has.
Even though the knicks fans loves David Lee, Isiah Thomas loves Channing Frye more because he wants Eddy Curry to have all the space down low (hence why Frye is still the starter)
BTW, some in here say we got hosed and some say NYK got hosed suggest that this trade is not THAT lopsided. :p

I'd take that deal in a heartbeat as a rocket. Thats a guaranteed championship team. As long as isaiah is around there is hope...

I'm not sold on giving away Luther Head, and Chuck Hayes gives us a similar game to David Lee. But the thought of David Lee hustlin with Yao.........

the knicks since they are so far over the cap, will ose Lee because all you can offer is mle if over the cap. better beleive someone will offer him about 7mil per. He and Varaja will get 6 yrs 48mil because of the energy and versitility. The rox should have gotten Harrington this summer instead of relying on someone like chuck hayes. Another option might be Stephen Hunter for Sura. They really need a high energy ,long atheletic player like Hunter.

So you're saying basically that the Rockets should have straight drafted David Lee instead of Luther Head last year. I can go with that. Thats the one strength of Isiah, drafting decent. Which is why I don't think he's gonna let go one of the few things he did right over there so soon.

You can't be serious. You are comparing David Lee to Mark Freaking Madsen? Other than both of them being white, I don't see how you connect those dots. I would take Lee (who is putting up PJ Brown-type numbers...well, better actually in terms of rebounding and FG %) on the Rockets any day.

    Here's my unlikely trade suggestion......

    Bonzi to Orlando for Redick

The Magic are supposedly looking to add a scoring swingman especially with the Grant Hill injury. They're struggling just to stay above .500 and Redick barely plays. Although Bonzi is likely just a rental player he would still give them the scoring punch they desire and is ready to contribute right away. He could potentially have a Rasheed Wallace/Detroit like effect on the Magic.

For Houston it's a great long term move that would also free up minutes for Snyder. In general, i'm all about keeping Bonzi for the playoffs and I keep telling myself Bonzi is going to keep getting better. It's somewhat frustrating though when your constantly trying to convince yourself he will get better yet you cannot help but notice how slow and sloppy he looks. Not only that he's become very bad at protecting the ball and he really can't guard anybody anymore. He's still a dominant post player though, and does have the X-FACTOR potential for the playoffs -- for that reason it might be best not to tinker with the rotation considering our strong play. It's also probably unlikely Bonzi + second rounders or whatever from us would be enough to get Orlando to part with their recent first round draft pick. Just an idea though.

on the one hand the knicks would never do this trade and on the other i don't know how wise it would be to mess with our chemistry. when yao gets back chuck hayes' impact will most likely increase and his value won't be much lower than lee's. that's not even mentioning the value of luther's shooting.

in other words this has zero chance of happening.

I agree that this has zero chance of happening, but not that Hayes' value won't be much lower than Lee's, once Yao gets back. Lee is far better than Hayes, Yao playing or not, IMO.

rather have ariza. rocks would have two of the league's top perimeter defenders. if a lineup of pg.tmac, sg.ariza, sf.battier doesn't stop the nash and bell three bombs no team can.

I think Lee is way too overrated here, and Luther Head is underrated.. here.

This is not the way it works.

The Knicks will own David Lee's Bird rights, therefore, even though they are over the cap, they are still able to retain their player at whatever cost.

He is going to be a restricted free agent at the end of his contract, therefore, even if other teams offer more money, the Knicks are able to match the salary, and keep their player.
