Forget this trade, I got a better one: Rockets trade: Juwan Howard, Luther Head Rockets get: Chris Mihm, Smush Parker This is better because we get a backup center who can also play power forward at times and a backup point guard who can also play good defense. We already got enough players who can play shooting guard (T-mac, Battier, Snyder, Sura)
Smush did have some nice games againts the suns in the playoffs. There is no question that he is very athletic and good defender. I do wonder if Phill would let him go he does like haveing point guards with size in his offence
I am still so against this trade. I would much rather keep what we got than throw it away on that Laker trash.
I'm pretty sure Smush is staying a Laker, he got the majority of PG minutes during the season for a reason. Cook could be expendable, but I wonder if they'd want Novak in return. Novak is still not signed as far as I know and I wonder if he is trade bait in this or some other deal. Cook basically does everything Rockets want Novak to do after bulking up, and Cook is already bulked up at 260 lbs+. Lakers can not sign Novak and held on to his rights while he plays overseas or in the minor leagues and develop.
Salaries doesn't work with Head in. It would go through if it were Juwan for Mihm, Parker, and Wafer. They need Mihm and Parker for depth. Their PG situation is similiar to the Rockets. The only redundant players I see if they trade for JHo are perhaps Cook and one of their scrubs at SG. I just see the Lakers with the same roster depth problems/lack of assets as Houston. I can't see a trade happening between the two.
Unfortunately you need to include McKie to make the salaries work. Though you could do a Howard and Head for Mihm, Parker and Cook - but I would imagine you'd have to take on McKie to get both Parker and Cook. Howard for Mihm Head for Parker Cook for taking on McKie and opening up 2 slots for them.
Not to bring up a dead thread but just wanted to see if LP heard anything new? Is the trade still on or is it dead. CD did say that trades are what they're looking at now. So if you can update us. I know you said something to the effect it was in the bag, at one point. Is that still the case?
It's looking bad for LakersPride, He doesn't answer emails and hasn't posted anything in 2 days. And still no info or even new rumors of a trade. Also I heard that Mihm is stll recovering from an ankle injury and may need surgery because the healing is taking so long.
I think that we aren't counting on Sura but if he comes back thats a positive...nobody, including CD and JVG are counting on him...i think he is the X factor for us if he is healthy....We need a guy like that on this roster
Mihm's not going anywhere http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/sports/pros/lakers/article_1218457.php El SEGUNDO – Los Angeles Lakers center Chris Mihm will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle to remove scar tissue, it was announced today. The surgery will take place Wednesday and will be performed by Dr. Phillip Kwong, a foot specialist with the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Group... There goes that trade idea.
look what i found.. this is the exact post. he clames to have inside info from rootwire Iono, to good to be true to me in quotes is the post not my words """""to L.A: Juwan Howard Steve Novak Bob Sura to Houston: Lamar Odom 2nd round pick in 2008 source: insider at subscripton site 'rotowire' site says trade should be announced tuesday.""""""" http://www.******************/viewtopic.php?topic=548911
It's BS... the same guy also claimed that DMiles and Jarret Jack are being traded to Orlando for Bo Outlaw and Jameer Nelson. Problem is the salary don't match.
LP said he wasn't gonna post anymore. Dunno which thread, but I remember he said he wasn't. I still get the feeling the Lakers want Howard. What's holding it us is the Rockets want some assurance that Mihm will fully recover by the season, or they're deciding who else LA should throw in.
