I believe Mckie is getting 2.5 mil next year and it's his last year. The main purpose for including Mckie is to make the trade salary wise. If he he is washed up so be it. Personally I think he still contribute on part time basis. And he is only here 1 year and then he is off the books. You really have to look at this deal as Mihm for Head and I think that is not a bad deal. Getting rid of Howard is just a bonus and we have to take on Mckie to make it work. I like luther but he doesn't seem like JVG's guy anyway and we definitely need a backup center to relieve Yao. Mutombo did not cut it last year and Yao is only good for about 30-35 minutes. That's if he doesn't get into foul trouble. And we are not even talking injury. I probably seen Mihm more than most of the posters on here (league pass) and I think he is an above average backup and probably better than a few starters in the league. So don't say we need more than Mihm for Howard and Head. Getting rid of Howard is the point and it is really Mihm for Luther. And if Luther for Mihm don't cut it for you than that's a different story.
Thanks for the info on McKie's contract, OMR. We need a backup for Yao. I don't think there's much question about that, considering how Deke played last season. Mihm would fill that role. I just hate giving up a young player we've been developing. It doesn't bother me as much as it would have if we hadn't picked up Snyder. I don't know... maybe if I were a UT fan, I could get excited about Mihm. Getting rid of Howard and his contract would be awesome.
I know I really like Luther too and think he has a solid future in the League. But we don't have much more to offer. Howard for Mihm is too 1-sided. Maybe they'll go for a draft pick. If this trade is really in the works perhaps that is the delay. The Rocket's don't want to include Luther and the Lakers or pushing the issue.
Brian Cook just had thumb surgery. I wonder if this has any impact on a Rockets-Lakers trade. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2523191
No, take out McKie and you've got a deal. Or, let us throw in Bowen and you take out Mckie and put in Vujacic and you've got a deal. Or you take out Mckie and Parker and put in Vujacic and you've got a deal.
I doubt Cook is what the Rockets want. Battier can do everything Cook does and more. On the other hand, with JL3 and Kill Bill deals still in the air, if the Rockets can pry away a spare PG from the Lakers, it would be good. With Luther in the purple can gold, it could mean that Sasha Vujacic could be expendable. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/sasha_vujacic/ His stats are not great so far, but he's 22 years old, huge for a PG, and did well in the playoffs (didn't he have a key steal on Nash one game?)... worth a roster spot, no?

Vujacic would be nice to balance out losing Head. He really stepped up when he had his chance in the playoffs. That says a lot about the guy. Very low TO numbers. An intriguing guy. Sure, toss him in there and I feel a lot better. Anyone think this is actually more than BBS BS, from another BBS or two? I have this innate dislike and distrust of things Lakers, although they've had players I've loved, lots of them over the years. I'll be surprised if anythings comes of this, but you never know.
this is the sh!ttiest trade idea i have ever seen in my life. aaron mckie is old and useless, and chris mihm if inconsistrnt.
I would think Smush or Cook, not both. And more likely Phil would be comfortable letting go of Cook than Smush at this point - though if Head is coming back I guess smush is more expendable. It's alot more likely we'd send Wafer...though so far he hasn't offered much. he might be better in a system less rigid than the triangle - he's a bit raw.
Well let me say this about the whole Juwan Howard and Laker Fan equation. I personally think that the rumor may have been started from the *************** article about the Lakers. Sometimes hoopsworld dot com is severly off and is based off personal opinions on what a team should do, But i can not deny that sometimes they do seem to be on point. As far as the actual trade, I would do it in a heart beat. Juwan Howard has 2 years and a player option left that i am sure he will take. Howard is nothing more that a short rage shooter. His legs are gone and he is very slow getting rid of him and his contractis hard. If the Lakers want him let them have him but i don't see why they would want him and his contract. I dont mind Mihm McKie and and Von Wafer because they all have expiring contracts whick is good for cap relief and for trade deadline bait. I don't think the Lakers are going to trade Cook but i would take him if they did. I think you all are all sleeping on Smuch. He was very solid hast year and very athletic. He has no shooting range but you can't have everythin for his price. Plus he has a nice cheap contract. Again i dont see why the Lakers would want Howard, but if you can unload him do so. The aricle states that the Lakers want a real PF and i dont think Howard fits the bill. He isn't much of a rebounder and is a defensive liablility for the Duncans Brands KGs and Dirks of the Western Conference.
Let me just set you straight... if anything they got thier info from here. I started this thread yesterday morning and the Hoopsworld article didn't come out till late yesterday afternoon. In addition I rarely read hoopsworld unless it's posted here. I posted my article based on the fact that CD and Morey both said they were still working on trades and seeing that Howard seemed the odd man out. My conclusions were based on the Lakers being overstocked on big men who had little offense and the fact that Mihm already had been mentioned in several trade rumors. Now since this is your first post I will cut you some slack but in the future try not to insinuate I am fabricating Laker bs. Also whether you care to believe me or not I don't give a ****. Peace Bro P.S. welcome to the board
This is my first post, so allow me to introduce myself... Im a 21 year old student at UT. I've been reading this site for awhile now because my boyfriend is a member, and I wanted to be able to post too so I joined. I also think just getting rid of Howard's contract sounds too good to be true. After the previous moves in the offseason, I was having a hard time expecting even just another solid pickup; for CD to pull this off would be like achieving the impossible dream. Throwing in Luther makes it more realistic, but much less appealing. I really liked him last year, he seems like he is really special and he made some really amazing shots. Despite his rookie slump, I think he will get even better. I would be really sad if he goes.
Welcome, and I'll forgive you being a UT fan. (go Coogs!! ) We don't have nearly enough female members here, so you are doubly welcome because of that. Your feelings about Luther mirror my own. Sadly, he's one of our few remaining realistic trade chips. Howard has been considered untradeable, although Old Man Rock come up with a team that might make use of the guy. Who knows if this whole thing is based on his initial post? We'll find out!
if the rockets are to trade howard to l.a. it will be to get rid of his contract and we will receive no better than devean george.he is defensive minded and can play a couple positions. i think that the rumor posted earlier is bogus however.
