OK. It is only because of your persistence and insistence along with my intense desire to see JHo go away that I stay interested in this thread.
Man i must type pretty freakin slow.If that is the trade then that would be decent.I would rather have Cook or Walton though instead of McKie. 1.Rafer/Sura/Head 2.Snyder/Head/McKie 3.Mcgrady/Novak/Bowen 4.Battier/Mihm/Hayes/Novak 5.Yao/Mihm/Mutombo
If this deal goes down, it sure was nice for LakersPride to bring it to us. Wonder if there could be any way to find other fans of other teams with inside sources for those clubs and promote this blog to them to get them do bring us the same stuff as LakersPride did when they have a good scoop involving our team? I'm pretty convinced this deal is being kicked around by both teams. They may not finish it but it doesn't mean it wasn't under serious discussion.
ktvoss - Who knows if Luther Head is involved? i do know the Lakers want him and there agressively trying to get him into the deal.
if i could be convinced that mihm could slide into pf as well as cato did, i would do this trade even with giving up luther head. however as of right this second i don't know if it's worth giving up luther just to get rid of juwan's contract. if you substitute walton for mckie i'd get with that. i kind of feel for howard, if he's one of the rockets who reads this board. now i'm all for trading him but as a person and teammate he's probably one of the best guys in the league. he doesn't exactly fit what we need on the court but i do wish him the best of luck should we trade him.
is it a possibility that your source got that from this thread? look at what old man rock proposed - howard and head for mihm and mckie. this does not sound like a coincidence.
We're probably asking for more than Mihm and Mckie if Luther is involved. Possibly Cook and Turiaf. Everybody's forgot about Turiaf but he is a very athletic version of Rybo with some post skills and the ability to block shots. I've wanted him since he went into the draft last year. His heart ailment set him back but I think he was one of the top 4 or 5 power forward in last year's draft. He'll definitely bring it defensively with the intensity and will block 10 times the shots that Juwan blocked.
ktvoss - There is alot of scenarios people make everyday but the truth is the teams could be talking about the same exact trade the poster made as his 'scenario'. so absolutely not.
I wonder if there is talks about what Rockets might want back if they were to trade Luther in place of or in addition to McKie.. Kobe is gonna take most of the SG minutes, and they have Mo Evans, Smuch Parker, Vujacic, and youngsters Wafer, Jordan Farmer, and Pinnock also. If Luther were to be trusted with significant minutes, that means somebody will have to lose theirs. I'd kind of like to see if CD cand wrangle Vujacic away. He's a tall guy who can run the point and shoot the long ball.
i am not sure if i like this trade. mihm is a good backup center and part-time pf for us. we still have starting pf issue, maybe battier can help. it depends on who will we be able to get lucas or vspan or both? we we get both of those guys, head will not be seeing his fair share of PT. not tomention still synder to take some time off the SG log. head may need to be traded away in order to make things work.
The Rockets/Lakers are a good match for a trade salary wise... Juwan Howard (6.3M) Luther Head (1M) for Chris Mihm (4.2M) Brian Cook (1.5M) and then throw in one out of the following Smush Parker(800K) Luke Walton (1.25M) Maurice Evans (1.5M) Matches up pretty close salary wise... (not sure how close it has to be to go through). And another nice thing for the Rockets is Mihm, Cook, Parker, & Walter all expire after this season...
He does have a point. If we forego our MLE this year and do this trade with the Lakers for these 2 expiring contracts and send them back Juwan and Luther and we do not take the option on Snyder, we could conceivable have $7-$9 million of cap space to work with next summer. However, we would have to fill out our roster after this trade with trash, which is just not realistic. HOWEVER, if we did this trade, it would generate a new trade exception of around $4.94 million, by us incorporating our TE into this deal which really could come into play at the trading deadline or on down the line. Plus we are loaded with several expiring contracts which are easily moveable at the trade deadline. The more I look at that deal, the more I like it. Not for the players but for what we can do in the trade market down the road. Get it done. And if we could somehow get LA to give us Cook instead of McKie, it's an even better deal for us. Cook is lights out from distance, plus he's expiring, at a smaller contract than McKie and if we sent them Juwan and Luther, we would generate the new TE in the neighborhood of $5.5 million. I'd settle for either deal.
But I thought we want to win NOW, not wait a year or two for someone to develop, isn't that the reason why we traded Rudy Gay and Stro for Battier? Next year's free agent class looks pretty thin anyway, hmm, Vince Carter, no way we gonna get him, Desmond Mason, Andres Nocioni, Maurice Williams, Jerry Stackhouse. Not much, but better role players than we have now I guess. I'd like to get rid of Juwan, but we need a quality starting pf, all we have is young Chuck Hayes at the point. Also, getting rid of Head isn't something I'd be lookin forward too. It's like forfeiting next season for the next next season...sigh
Like if we get rid of Juwan we are in rebuilding mode???? Dude!!!!! You've been stuck in New Orleans too long.
Laker fan here. I would be stunned to see walton get moved = phil LOVES him. cook could be moved since we signed vlad. smush could be moved. lakers are looking for roster space so a 3 for 2 deal makes sense.
God, I would hope so. Does anyone know how much McKie's contract is? It's an expiring one at the end of the season, but Patricia's site has, "???," where she would put a number. (great site for BB info, for those who aren't aware of it http://www.dfw.net/~patricia/contracts) Mihm's is an expiring contract. McKie is worthless, at this point. As it looks, we'd be trading Luther to get rid of Howard's contract, in order to reduce payroll at the end of the season, and have a backup 5 on a one season rental. Is it worth it? I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing.
