Yup. Same old tired argument. Exact same argument used against McGrady and Vince just to name a couple. Miles could be Van Gundy's new Sprewell.
No offense, awful trade idea, simply awful. I know nearly all of us here, including me, don't like Juwan as much of a starter. However, you cannot deny he's a good player. He still can play, he showed he can play when Tracy and Yao were out, he did it efficiently to prove his results. His value is not trash to us, he still has sentimental value, to other teams though..it may be trash, however this offer is bad, very bad.
Not quite. I don't ever recall anyone saying T-Mac was tired of basketball and was only playing because it was his job.
McGrady never came into practice blatantly drunk, while defending the act, and he didn't call his coach a "n*gger" and that he wouldn't have to listen to the coach since the coach (Cheeks) would be fired soon anyway. Miles is a douchebag, pure and simple. I wouldn't want him on the Rockets if the Trailblazers gave him away for free.
He's the same douchebag that players like Rodman and Vernon were. Vernon was flaming out on a championship squad. But we all still realize the significant contribution he made to the first championship. After all, when his head was screwed on straight, he was the Jordan stopper. That's the kind of potential that is harbored in Miles. You can probably give up changing him just like Vernon and Rodman never changed and it has and will continue to cost them down the line. But the right situation and the right coach can draw out those scentilating performances that we witnessed from both Rodman and Maxwell. Those are the kinds of performances that put great teams over the top. Rodman wore out his welcome in Detroit....after helping them win championships as well as San Antonio and the Lakers...but he still went to Chicago, and under a strong coach and a couple of strong players, he slung around a bunch of technical fouls, a bunch of expletives, busted a few camera, and a whole lot of other nonsense, but while he was slinging out that stuff, he was driving opponents nuts on the floor. Van Gundy has the capability of turning Miles into the new Sprewell and if we were to get Miles for Howard, it has the potential to turn us into a championship winning dynasty. Yeah, you spell it with n-a-s-t-y, or the alternative spelling of M-i-l-e-s.
You have a point -- he certainly worked wonders with Stro, another talented player with questionable motivation! If Miles could be counted on to pull his head out of his a$$ and play some ball, I'd be all for a JHo trade to get him. Since he has yet to do that consistantly with any team, I think the risk is too great. I'll keep JHo until we can get something of positive value for him.
A plan, eh? Sort of like the plan we had to sign Mike James? I wish you guys would stop throwing Head's name around in trade proposals so much. He's our one and only young player with enough talent to play right now, and even though we now have the "Win NOW, lose for the next 10 seasons" philosophy going on, I'd like to at least keep Luther Head... Unless we can trade him for a bigger shooting guard or small forward. Also, why are we putting Alston's name on the trade block? Who will play point guard for us once he's gone? I know that Sura has practiced lately and all that, but I don't feel comfortable trusting a starting spot to Sura while having no backup plan if he goes down or cannot play like the Sura of old. I don't see how we could ship away Juwan and be the ones who come out on top from that deal; and I think CD will do his best to make sure that happens.
Magloire was hardly able to keep up with the Bucks when he was the center, there's no way he'd be able to play against the quick and mobile PF's in the Western Conference.
This really is not an appropriate response. If you disagree with Old Man Rock, please provide a more expository response providing your own personal whys and wherefores. Sharing opinions broadens the board's overall perspective. An expletive in and by itself does not.
If the idea is to dump Juwan's contract... Portland are going to be just over the luxury tax threshold. A trade involving Juwan, Head, and Rybo for Skinner, Dixon, and Dickau works using the realgm trade checker but can't go through until Aug 28 because Dickau was recently dealt. In this move Portland would receive around over 2.1M less in salary than what they would send to Houston. Even though they take on a couple more years with JHo than with Skinner the bigger picture would be they avoid paying luxury tax. Why is this thread still going IF we give up Head(no chance in hell) we will be getting lamar in return. And if this deal goes through it will be Howard for mihm and mckie.
