That is an interesting idea outlaw, but I think Cleveland likes Mihm and has a need for him. The reason I am thinking of Najera is that Dallas doesn't have a need for him, Cuban takes on risks, and they would have time to let Eddie develop before he is needed. This isn't a trade idea where I am just trying to get players on the team that I like and trying to make things work around that idea. I was looking for a situation where both teams would benefit - which is what usually is the idea when teams make a trade. EG has potential to be a star. To bad about being immature. Najera will never be a star but he could help us. I think if EG could start over again he could turn out alright.
Dallas already had a EG. His name was Leon Smith. And who did Dallas trade him away for when they realized he wasn't good for the team? hmmmmm. Anyone? People - please see Sam's post.
Believe me, if I knew what would make Sam bash his head into a steel pole I would do it every day. For you people who just like to enter threads and make comments like that without any argument as to why this wouldn't be something the Rocks should explore then just don't post here. It isn't like it is a far fetched idea. I agree Dallas might not take the bait but I have to do something with him. Besides it might not be all bad for Dallas. They are having trouble finding minutes for Najera.
Leon Smith - drafted out of HS. Tons of "potiential". Depressed to the point of going nuts. Sound familiar? Only Leon didn't get busted, never alledgedly assaulted anyone and made 1/2 of what Eddie does. Why would Dallas trade away someone with value for someone of negative value? In hopes of him turning it around into a possitive? The only experience they can draw on is a negative one - Leon never made it back. Dallas wouldn't trade a 2nd round pick for him as I don't think anyone else would or CD would have given him an extenstion. Eddie has no basketball value, zilch, nada. The only way any GM will listion to picking up EG is if Yao is included as well.
Eddie has some value. I admit it is small. That is why I am trying to find a situation where a team didn't feel like they were losing much to get him - hence this idea. There are some other circumstances around the league where a log jam at one position might entice a GM to take a gamble because he can't give his current player any minutes anyway.
How about this HOU-DAL trade? E.Griffin + Cato + Mobley = Jamison + Najera Rockets SF: Antawn Jamison + Adrian Griffin + Boki Nachbar PF: Eduardo Najera + Mo Taylor + To Braggs C: Yao Ming + John Amechi G: Steve Francis + Moochie Norris G: Jim Jackson + Eric Piatkowski Mavericks SF: Antoine Walker + Josh Howard PF: Dirk Nowitzki + Danny Fortson + Eddie Griffin C: Kelvin Cato + Shawn Bradley G: Steve Nash + Travis Best + Tony Delk G: Michael Finley + Cuttino Mobley Houston get more balanced scoring in the lineup. Dallas gets the physical center they need to compete in the west.
Now we are starting to get into the realm of fantasy. Why would Dallas give up its newly acquired PF for trouble and Mobes? Good luck, but again if you can pull that off go for it. But let us be reasonable. That is why I am saying that we need to aim for players that teams aren't going to miss much but that we could use.
because Nowitzki can't play center and they're bringing Jamison off the bench now since they got Walker.
I guess it is remotely possible, but I don't know how popular that would be in Dallas. I mean you are really trading only Mobes and Cato, Griffin is too much of a risk. And I think they would rather have Jamison than Walker. Younger.
Perhaps it is fantasy - which is why I am aiming at non star players on teams known to take risks and can afford them. Dallas fits that bill. Just like New York took a chance on Spree after the choke.
