He wants to be traded every 6 months. It get predictable and old.

HELL NO. Besides, can you imagine the sheer amount of "What's in your CD player?" conversations that would break out in the dugout? :)

First, while he does seem to make that request a bit, it doesn't affect his play. Second, he's been in the league for 10+ years and last year was the first time that we know that he requested a trade. Third, all through all of that, his teammates never got tired of him and loved him in the clubhouse. I think a lot of it is simply overblown.

He'd be a great addition, especially with the structure of MMP. He played much of his career, happily, in a small-market in Cleveland so I don't think Houston itself would be a problem. Now, whether we could take on the salary or have the pieces needed to make a trade would be a whole different issue.

Yeah, trade for that sad sack and sign Lonnie Smith and then we can have the outfield from hell with him, Lonnie, and Berkman running around on ice skates out there. They'd be good for about 10 inside the park homers next year.

And how do you expect to come up with the money to pay for this guy. We could be over 100 million...

If he gets traded, Boston will eat a HUGE chunk of his salary.

Not that the Astros couldn't use that player, but they could certainly use someone with Manny's offensive capabilities also. His OBP has been down, but 45 HR's, 144 RBI. And that's the 10th time he's gone over 100 RBI in his career and the 10th over 30 hr's.

I think he'd be a great addition, but would certainly approve of acquiring a less powerful, but just as solid middle of the order type guy.

Which is why I think it is highly doubtful you will see him traded. The Red Sox would have to be idiots to deal him for trash AND eat a large part of salary to be rid of him. The dude may be from outer space but he produces. Red Sox go through this every year with him - it is no big surprise that it happened again.

Manny being Manny ... with Uncle Drayton. Priceless, except for a spare $57mil, or so.

When I read the article about his agent re-demanding a trade, I know this thread would be here within a short period of time.

But hey! Trade for Manny, Guerrero, and Matsui, and then sign Konerko. That'll be a good start, huh? If Drayton doesn't do it, he's just being tight fisted. DO IT!

I wouldn't want Manny on my team even for a few million. The Astros have always had a tight clubhouse, and adding Manny to the mix would only be a cancer. I love the fact that year after year the Astros put quality men on the field, not just players...

I think some of you really don't know that much about Manny to be saying he would be a "cancer". Hell yes he is a flake, but that doesn't make the man a "cancer". But I have NEVER read anyone on the Sox saying the guy is a cancer in the clubhouse. If that is really true, they are keeping it to themselves which would be rare considering how much other stuff leaks out of Boston.

I would love to have his production but the price tag is to high not to mention I hate the fact how he admires his HR`s ;)

Not that I think we should try to get him, but they did all right with Kent, even though I don't think he was a clubhouse favorite.

You know David Ortiz is their DH and the best one in the game at that. They might as well play Bags at first if they had him and Ortiz. Bags can't throw, but Ortiz can't catch or throw.
