Brown is a good player but you have to wonder about the analytics with him on the court, the fact that the celtics went 36-6 without him the past 3 season, his behavior, and his contract extension coming up didn't loom large. That being said, getting back PG and that bloated contract is hilarious
Celtics just won 56 games largely without Tatum and after getting rid of Jrue, Porzingis, and Horford Celtics are 63-29 without Tatum the last 4 seasons How’d they do that with Jaylen Brown on the court? Derrick White and Pritchard are closet superstars? analytics talk has gotten so out of hand lately
“Analytically, we are and have been the better team this series.” “Analytically, we won the series.” “Analytically, he’s the 7th best player on a team.” “Analytically, Luka Garza is a better player than Jaylen Brown.” “He thinks he’s the smartest person in the room, which is a disease!” Don’t forget our own Bruce Brunson Thornton! BC(before championship) : too small, not and can’t be the best player on a championship team AC(after championship) : Everyone is the next Brunson!
bro, Jaylen Brown being the 7th best player on a team based off “muh analytics” was some of the wildest sh*t I’ve ever heard if that’s what your numbers or models are telling you, then they’re sh*t Are they even watching the games anymore? dudes will see Jokic getting cooked defensively and be like “well actually, according the analytics he’s an above average defender” ”the analytics say Jokic is a better player than Hakeem” -_- Enough!!! Cavs coach down 3-0 receiving belt to ass from the Knicks talking about “analytically, we’re up 2-1”
100% So let me get this straight. Brown is a NBA champion and a Finals MVP, but somehow not an elite player? A winning player? If he’s not a “winning player” Then who in the hell is?! Who does this delusional board want to trade for??
I wanted Brown, but not at a great cost. The cost turned out not to be great at all. Boston accepted paltry draft compensation and an albatross contract. Philly's 2028 and 2031 picks don't look that promising now, our picks in those same years might have been more attractive and we wouldn't have even had to touch the Brooklyn, Phoenix, and Dallas picks. For fans that are frustrated with the results of our rebuild the direction of team is less clear than ever. If we were committed to a youth movement I think most people would be okay with it. But trading for KD while signing DFS and Capela meant that we also had an eye on immediate results. And signing Smart and Bogi now shows we are still half-heartedly going in that direction. We are not committed to a youth movement when half of the roster is over 32 years old and we haven't added a 1st round pick in the last two drafts. And we're not committed to winning if we're turning our noses at all-NBA players that are available for a handful of draft picks. I'm actually fine waiting until next summer to overhaul the team, but do you seriously not see why fans are upset? Stars are available for a variety of prices and Stone seems content to stay on an ambiguous course. Running it back with this team is taking a step back and I don't expect everyone to be happy with that.
How is it possible for the Celtics to win so much, even without Tatum, while giving Brown 34 mpg and so many shot attempts/high usage when he’s so detrimental according to the analytics? They’re leaving a losing player out there for 70% of the game, and putting the ball in his hands so much? Were the Celtics just being dumb the last decade? I’m not even in the camp where I’m desperate for Jaylen Brown, but the cost was albatross Paul George and 2 picks…we for sure could’ve pawned off KD, and I’m all for a trade like that
