I wish this would happen. We need someone else besides KD that can put the ball in the basket from anywhere consistently. Sengun/FVV/Picks for JB. Get it done Morey
The Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks are expected to be at the front of the line in the Jaylen Brown sweepstakes, per @basketballtalk “If Brown becomes available, look for Houston and Atlanta to be at the front of the line for him, with a number of other teams — Portland has said it’s interested — in the mix. The challenge will be matching his salary, which is $57.1 million next season and totals about $183 million over the next three years. Brown is coming off his best season as a pro, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.”
Not sure why anyone wouldn’t want JB. This board is so unrealistic. Who is better that isn’t on a rookie contract and available by trade? Ant, Booker, Maxey, Mitchell, Brunson? None are available. You could argue Kawhi but he is older and the epitome of injury prone. JB would be the perfect get for either Durant or a mix of Sengun, DFS, and picks.
I'd go the other way and trade KD and stuff for him. Give our younger guys more time to learn basketball skills
That would be even better than Sengun/FVV and picks. The only people I can see against this are Sungun OFs. From a basketball standpoint its perfect.
Swapping KD for JB doesn't do much from the standpoint of roster construction. At the end of the day you still have the Reed/Sengun horrible defense combo and the Amen/Sengun horrible shooting combo.
Pairing JB and KD would not do much either. If anything it's a worse version of the Boston Jays. We need to build around JB and extend our window that we can compete. KD is a win now player and we simply don't have any way to win now before he gets washed.
I don't get to watch as much basketball as I use to (except Rockets), so I'm really not understanding the lack of love for Jaylen Brown as a number 1 option. He seemed to be a huge reason why Boston stayed afloat last year despite losing Tatum for most of the season, losing Porzingis, Horford and Holiday and Derrick White was not as good as in years past. I know he makes a **** load of money, but as far as thinking about it from a percentage of the cap, would it really be that bad of a move to get Jaylen. I'm looking at the Rockets right now and we have an aging KD, a fake franchise player in FVV, and two flawed young stars that are likely to peak at All Star status. I don't see a reason why we should already be thinking about rebuilding, so assuming you could land Jaylen for some of draft stock and KD and Jabari (one example, not sure why Celtics would go backwards either), why wouldn't you do it? If we can think of Jaylen Brown as just a player and not worry about his salary, is he not option 1 material?
The JB BS isn't about making sense, it's about doing what Ime wants... which inherently doesn't make sense.
There is no universe where he can be the 1st option on a contender. He's a poor shooter, alright but not good efficiency, and is a poor passer.
Reed’s a solid bench player, you don’t make best player on the team decisions around him but regardless 3 guys like Jalen Brown/Amen/Tari in the middle is exactly how to make Sengun and Reed work together defensively.
Are you basing this off Reddit? Did you watch JB this year? He was one of the best players in the league and was the reason the Celtics were as good as they were. They were not even supposed to make the playoffs. He shot 45 and 40 in the playoffs on 6 3s a game. Poor efficiency is what Reed Sheppard did this postseason.
I really can see both sides of the argument for and against trading for Brown. I think I'm landing on no just because the contract is so bloated and this is an era where teams are trading better picks for worse picks just to dump salary. This would be worse than maxing Amen tbh.
What is the reddit thing in reference to? Sorry if I missed something. Celts were good because of their system/depth, they had a +11 net rating when brown was off the court. He's been between bad and terrible from 3 for 5 years in a row now. He's a good player, but the difference between a good player and someone who can be the best player on a contender is massive.
I'm tired of Amen passing up layups. I don't want scary ass players on this team His defense that I admired is gone. Somehow Ime made him cocky.
