Clearing up capspace for that eventual Dejounte Murray extension and also making a run at overpaying a 2nd/3rd banana this summer because no one wants to go to San Antonio.
Agree. I also think mental health is really important, and Ben Simmons should take the rest of the year to make sure he is in a really good headspace. If BKN bottoms out this year as a result, so be it.
yeah, and in the offseason it was the Nets and Lakers that were shoe-ins for the Finals. I'm going to not jump the gun, but instead just let things play out. While 5.5 games out of first isn't a lot for the Nets, they only have 28 games left, KD is still injured, Kyrie still can't play at home, its hard to see Simmons playing IMMEDIATELY, and the teams in front of them plan on playing/winning still, too. It's just incredibly hard to come out of a conference without a top 2-3 seed, much less a top 5 seed. Conversely, maybe Harden is hurt? lol... idk... if not, he's a system to himself, so no reason the Sixers shouldn't finish strong... but he does indeed flame out in the playoffs a lot. there's also always the possibility that Embiid gets hurt again...
It's funny, right? As the actual NBA product on the court continues a decline, the deal-making and GM-watching is much more entertaining.
Sure but why sacrifice a year of Embiid's prime? And the tail end of Harden's? Winning in the playoffs beats winning the offseason.
