snyder/francis/bonzi for mike miller was accepted by espn trade machine grizz get more cap relief with snyder and bonzi's expiring contracts and just one year left of francis...
Bonzi and Snyder will become FA's,the Clippers will only be left with Head for Maggette. It's not going to work out IMO even if we give this year's 1st round pick. The Rockets will also remain with the uncertainty of Maggette's player option. Will Maggette fit in with our team,he can drive and finish which we desperately need but how many touches will he need, will he play defence, will he shoot 3's?
As much as I would love to have Maggette I can't see us being a top defensive team without Shane in the lineup. Mike Bibby would be a perfect fit with Yao and Tracy. Mike James, Rafer Alsto and Kirk Snyder and maybe a future 1st rd pick?for Mike Bibby. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...s=61~11~1051~2445&teams=10~23~23~23&te=&cash=
This team needs a REAL back-up C. Someone who's good for 15 minutes every night. Yao's not gonna' last getting hammered by 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string guys all season long. No chance. He's already starting to look tired out there.
Great minds think alike? For real, I don't understand why Maggette isn't at the top of the listed with Mike Miller and others. Maggette could easily opt out and leave the Clippers with nothing. At least in this scenario if he bolts they still receive expirings in return but end up with Luther too who despite his flaws is better than Ross, Dickau or any of those scrubs they have. They could slash over $10 million in salary by doing this.
Yeah, you're probably right. That's why i'm hoping Maggette pulls the "i'll opt out" card like Artest did to put some major pressure on the Clippers to make a move. Maggette isn't my ideal choice because I do share my criticisms of him as well. Mainly, his shot selection and defense, as you mentioned. I would prefer Mike Miller but if Maggette threatens to opt out and the Clippers are forced to accept the same crap that Sacramento is rumored to accept for Artest, I definitely want to try to get him. A deal centered around Head/Bonzi/Snyder/draft picks for Maggette easily makes us better, IMO. Basically you substitute Maggette for Bonzi in that 6th man role and we're light years better. Maggette is nearly top five in the league in FT attempts. He could be an awesome addition for the 4th quarter "closing unit" role whenever our offense stalls and we start settling for too many jumpers.
Somebody get mark Cuban on the phone tell him we want Nick Fazekas. Its time to bring back the twin towers, a true 7 footer that can score from anywhere and it will free up Yao down low
Is there even any rumor related to us? I mean it is obvious that the Rockets were aiming for another season with homecourt advantage, and as of now we ain`t even in the playoffs. We have "too many" good players, but too few great ones. Someone in the NBA has to like guys like Snyder, Head, James, Hayes, Novak, Alston or Bonzi. And even if it would take us to give up someone like Battier, Scola or Brooks to get someone that helps us big time, I think we`d pull the trigger. But so far I haven`t heard anything about the Rockets. So after Pau going to the Lakers (for basically nothing they became a championship contender), Shaq going to the Suns (I actually don`t think they improved very much, BUT they got someone that will help them in the playoffs) and Kidd rumored to the Mavericks, the West is starting to look really scary and the Rockets are looking like a good borderline team. A big Shooting guard, a good and consisten PG or a backup center that could give us good minutes would each make us a better team. We need someone who can create his own shot and hit the open shot. Someone like Horry was for us in the championship years...
I just posted this in the Josh Smith thread but i'll post it here too... Atlanta is one team to keep an eye on in terms of potential trade partners. They have one of the lowest payrolls in the league and they're absolutely oozing with young, athletic talent with boatloads of upside. You can't afford to keep everybody, right? I would have to say 'no' to your question. Josh Smith seems to be one guy they absolutely cannot afford to deal. He's a restricted FA this summer so it will be interesting to see if he commands a max contract or not. In the event that he does, that's two max contracts for an owner that doesn't want to spend a lot of money as is. Josh Childress is a guy I like a lot that's also a restricted FA this summer. He's one of those smart, versatile do-it-all type swingmen that could thrive elsewhere. Marvin Williams is probably the main guy to keep an eye on. He's having a breakout year and will become a restricted free agent next summer. In the event Smith commands a max contract how much can they afford to pay Marvin? I would want Marvin bad enough to trade him one of our rookies if need be, to put things into perspective. He's an All-Star level talent....and this is coming from somebody that watches nearly every Hawks game.
Shoot, there is at least 7-8 guys I would love to have off that team. (Acie, Salim, Marvin, Childress, Joe, Smith, Shelden, and even Zaza.) They have a bunch of young talent, which makes it hard for them to get over the hump, but a few of those kids would be awesome on our squad.
The problem in non-Omni-land is horrendous ownership issues + terrible GM + overmatched coach = underachievement, or less. Their players are good. Give them the tools of a real franchise and they just might make lots of noise.
