we do have 2 and if we have a major collapse 3 first round picks in this draft, can't be upset with that, although Derek Fisher as a Rocket is nauseating

For those disappointed, what exactly did you expect to happen? I'm curious, what deals did you want him to do, you spout nonsense about getting rid of this and that, what trades were you expecting?

This is just the trade deadline, we're already in March, offseason is not too far away. Significant moves can be made then.

    No.

We traded for Camby (by giving up Thabeet) = upgrade.

We traded a 2nd round pick into a 1st round pick (by taking Fisher for Hill).

Net loss of rotational players = 0.
Net gain of rotational players = 1 (Camby)
Net gain of draft pick = 1 (upgrading from 2nd to 1st round)

Overall I would've loved us to walk away with Pau Gasol or Dwight Howard or Deron Williams. Unsurprisingly they didn't move at all - so to make some minor tweaks while maintaining max FA salary potential in the off-season is the next best accomplishment.

Except for the pick, yes, this is very dissappointing. I mean....Drek Fisher will be a Rocket. Disgusting.

    They dont understand ^this

    Chess....not checkers.

    Deep draft.....

    Maybe Llul comes over?

    Monte comes over?

Lots of money to use and picks in a deep draft.

Eventually the picture will be viewable to the naysayers.

Ehh no big players were moved, cannot get mad at Morey when the biggest named player moved was Wallace, and the Nets over paid. We got a #1 pick, Fisher to replace Flynn and Camby is a very good back up center and a huge expiring contract.

Teams like Boston, Detroit, Atlanta all were trying to make big trades and didn't. Considering the complete lack of movement at the deadline the Rockets did alright.

I really wanted to see Martin gone.

We tread water for another year, both good deals but neither really changes anything longterm.

    Meh I give it a C

Why is this a disappointment? Sure we didn't net Howard or Gasol but we did get a draft pick to make up for our draft pick we won't get when are in the playoffs. We will likely play OKC and we have their number and Camby/Dalembert will only help that.

Actually, we may only have 1 pick

Dallas pick from the lakers is top 20 protected (Dallas is picking in the teens if the season ended now)

Our pick we gave to NJ is prob gone since we make the playoffs

    NY pick is prob safe

I am confused on the draft pick. Do we get it or not and explain how it is protected and where it might end up or is it likely to be our pick next year.

Last I checked Dragic was still a Rocket and the Rockets did get a 1st round pick in addition to Dragic for AB. At least get your facts straight... or are you just wanting to whine?

How the hell did we "lose those picks"??:confused:If anything, we turned a 2nd rounder in the 40s (from the T-Wolves) into a first rounder. We GAINED a first round draft pick.

Why are people crying about these trades. We got rid of Hill who wasn't coming back after this season. He wasn't gonna play with Camby in front of him. We got a draft pick for him instead of letting him walk for nothing. I know it wasn't a big splash but why make a trade to make a trade and get burned.

Exactly, this is what I was trying to say last year, we are letting go of all the guys that can play that we control for cap room, which is meaningless for the Rockets under Morey because no one wants to come here and play.

Last year, some trades weren't announced until the evening hours of trade deadline day. You can bet your ass that Morey's one of the GMs asking (and apparently getting) a little more time to complete moves.

And if this is it? Oh, well. Rockets accomplished one of their most immediate needs: upgrade roster for a playoff push. They are just fine making the playoffs and satisfying their pick obligation to New Jersey. Hell, they even have an extra first round pick to make up for it.

Any needs for the long-term future of the franchise can be addressed on draft day.

This is year THREE of the trade/FA strategy, and in years 1 and 2 we missed the playoffs and got the worst possible lottery pick.

who says other moves won't be made after the season and we end up keeping him?

too many variables to conclude already that we lost him for nothing
