Trade CP3 and rebuild or embrace the "win now" strategy?

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by Aruba77, Dec 10, 2018.

Trade Chris Paul and his enormous contract while we can?

  1. yes, move him sooner than later; rebuild around Harden and Clint

Memphis could be a top 3 team with a Noah and Parsons for CP3 trade.

This is the worst time to trade him. Unlike average bball fans, Morey isn't stupid enough to "sell low" at this point.

I think the pelicans could use him and would take his contract, he has ties with New Orleans, and that being he was drafted and Very much liked. With Anythony gone they would probably like to have a main focus star back to help Ingram and Kuzma out, and that would probably be a pretty decent team there. Rockets could get some future picks, Mirotic,Moore, Hill Expiring back for Paul. I would pull the trigger in heart beat. You have to think about the future, because having Paul may not = a Championship this year.

Thats 3 good players to solidify your bench around Harden, and get a future pick, or 2. The rockets dont really need a point guard with Harden Plus Rivers is good enough to start on the dime and contribute evenly.

If you're gonna trade CP3 then you need to blow the whole thing up and trade Harden for young talent and high draft picks. There's no point to keep Harden and be mediocre in the West for years to come, while Lakers, Warriors, and Clippers all load up on superstars.

CP3 isn’t a superstar, he’s past his prime. He had a good playoff run last year. Doesn’t help harden get breaks, rest, or carry the load during the season because of his injuries and age.

If you of read the article you would of seen that this ...
"But best of all, they could shed that huge salary and go for a player like Kawhi Leonard, Kristaps Porzingis or even DeMarcus Cousins next season." You go out and get that star for Harden, this time you find one that can win a championship with him, they have done this 2 times already with dwight, and paul.

Even if you trade cp harden alone still gurantees you a playoff spot. No team with harden will be medicore. Only Lebron and Harden are that good.

Embrace win now. MAke it to the playoffs and hope that he can finally be healthy when it counts most

Paul will retire a Rocket. Yes, he really really will.

I suppose we will have to retire his number and everything.

My hope is the Lakers and AD fall through they panic and LaBron calls for his friend
Paul (small filler to open roster spots)
    for
Ball & Ingram (Rondo & KCP cap filler).

Paul goes home & We fill in our weak spots while saving money. If they ask for picks we ask for one of the young bigs.

CP3 is declining heavily. His mind is still at an elite level but physically, he is aging and multiple steps slower.

Only delusional fans here still think he's playing at an all-nba level.

No other GM in this league is dumb enough to trade for a 40mil/year CP3 with 3 years left.

Only Morey was dumb enough to overpay him because he's not a basketball guy, he just looked at CP3's stats from last year and assumed he'll be at the same level this year.

Now our title window is closed and we'll be playing for 2nd place at best for the next 3 years.

Oh well, at least last year was fun until CP3 got injured like he usually does in the playoffs.

What happens if your all world players wants his friend that is the same age as him? (It’s our only way out, IMO). Reality is they MAY win a championship together —> more than likely not; but maybe —> they are both rested and have some good looking young bigs.

I can’t believe how many of you have already given up on Chris Paul. Disappointing.

Man unless we get another real superstar back in return we need to go all in! James harden is in his prime and we really do not have time to waste on possible rebuilding..

Is there anything about him this season that has encouraged you? He looks slow, old, and fragile...

Would any team even want him at that contract?

He hasn’t looked too good. But we are talking about less than half a season here. I’m going to have to see a lot more before I declare him washed up, and I certainly wouldn’t blow the team up based on less than half a season.
