i think he's already better than Ron Mexico. already a better passer. certainly a more accurate passer.

until VY declares for the NFL draft, Casserly won't say anything that would even hint at the texans taking ANY QB in this draft.

If they keep Carr, they won't go after Young

Casserly said this morning on 610 that Carr has been informed he'll get his bonus next month. He did not say whether it was the 2 or 3 year option being inacted. Unless they are planning on taking a huge cap hit by trading Carr, it looks like they won't go after Young. :( We'll have to wait and see for sure.

Some one mentioned an exciting Texans offseason? We got it.

this is a half-truth. if they exercise their option on carr, he could still be traded. which is the best possible scenario, because if they just let him go they take a huge cap hit for nothing.

i'm hoping they're not so short-sighted that they won't let a cap hit one year affect who they want to take if they determine VY is the guy they want for the long-term.

    What's the better upgrade?

    Bush - DD

    Carr - VY

Honestly... I'd say VY. I hope the Texans can swallow their pride and take him.

The likely hood of a trade would be very low due to the amount David would be recieving.

If Young comes out, I don't think the Texans will draft him. I think they plan on keeping Carr and see what a new coach can do with him, they aren't ready to give up on him yet. Reggie Bush is our guy.

I hope young doesn't come out because of that reason and mainly if I hear one more idiot caller call into 610 and say trade david carr to the saints for their #2 pick or something even crazier like that without even thinking about salaries, or anything else, I may drive my truck directly into a tree.

    Is that a promise? ;)

I agree that some of us are highly overvaluing Carr. I think the Texans would be lucky to get a 2nd Rounder for him, and I would personally do that deal. I think most will agree that Carr never had all the right pieces to be successful, but I just want to know how much longer we will or are willing to spend on Carr. He is due a 8M extension and I'm not sure whether or not we should give it to him.

Trade Carr for picks , so the texans can build a better OL, or trade Carr for OL players already in the league, and draft VY

We if a team can get a 2nd and 3rd for Buchanon I'm sure we could get the same for Carr. Only if Casserly was the GM for another team.

Absolutely he's already being compared to Montana, Elway, and Staubach.

disclaimer: don't follow football much since the Oilers left town.

draft VY and I might warn up to the Texans. (if he declares)

Bush had over 200 yards total against one of the best defenses and the best special teams in college football and he wasn't even utilized all that much.

I'd like to hear the NFL scouts take on this situation. I'd be surprised if any of them would draft Young over Bush. Or even Young over Leinart.

the fact he wasn't utilized all that much has been a point of concern for me about drafting bush. it as amplified when it happened again in the national championship. it was more amplified when it happened during the most crucial points in the game for USC.

if you're not getting more than 15 carries as the Heisman trophy winner on the college level...how many are you getting at the pro level? yeah, i know you can throw to him, too. that doesn't excite me.

That doesn't excite you? I'm sure it excites teams like Kansas City and San Diego when they have the option of utilizing their running back in the passing game. It's a HUGE weapon and not something you can easily discount. Well I guess you can, but NFL teams don't.
