But his contract is expiring and there are some teams(Sacramento, Minny) who will be willing to pay him some nice pile of cash... and even though Brooks is good, I don't think the rockets are willing to overpay for him. Specially if score first point guards like him can be replaced through the draft...ex: Kemba Walker, Josh Selby, Brandon Knight... Might as well cash in on him now and see what they can get in return... just my opinion..
The only thing i ever noticed with AB is that he can be a hot head that might ball hog every now and then. Sometimes this mentality does bode well with the rocket philosophy but his assets outweigh that "conflict".. I don't know jack from what happens in the locker room though.
What if we get a player that plays both defense and offense back? Rockets need more 2-way players, not 1-way players unless they are superstars like Carmelo or Kobe.
I don't like to go into oblivion with trade possibilites...one of the most unproductive time waisting brain farts any human can put on themselves. So of course we can "what if" our way to something that might please you. I'm just giving you the reality of the situation. If something comes up where his scoring or speed can be both replaced and matched...then maybe we could work something out. GL with that though...we're utterly not in control of this situation.
Deal done quicker than a hiccup. DM: AB we have some great news and some not so great news. You know that contract extension? Done. AB: great! But what's the not so great news? DM: well I hope you like jazz music.... But the OP is right in a way, unless we are getting something very good in return, AB would be an awesome guard on a playoff team.
The only reason Rockets have to trade Brooks would be: - He becomes a tumor with his unhappiness of his contract and role and we move him to prevent further damage - He is unhappy and wants out - We are trading him for a better player - Lowry is sleeping with his mom Only idiots want to trade AB for the sake of trading him. The rest of us who mentioned trading him only want to if it gives us something better in return. The intelligent "Lowry Supporters" simply saw him for his true value and knew Lowry starting would be better for the Rockets. None of us saw Brooks egging his contract year though...
Look at our record... WE HAVE NO UNTOUCHABLES. Everyone is for sell.... for the right price!! Given his contract situation, it's something we should strongly consider. Again, depending on the return.

5 game sample size with shuffling lineup, no backup PG, the Yao in and out pony show, and Miller or Hill starting. Great breakdown. Heres an idea, why dont we try him in a role he already proved he can excel at? Lowry has proven he is versatile enough to run the bench group while Brooks clearly can't. Oh right because Lowry "deserves" to start since he is the best PG on the team. Its not about winning, its about personal agendas, which is just sad.
I think he can be a 6th man type player for us. He can score in bunches. I don't think he has IQ, passing skills and other PG skills that are needed to be a starting PG especially when he is not the first option. With Martin and Scola in the starting lineup, I would rather him as 6th man type player.. He needs to accept that role and help out team. If he can do that, then there is no point in trading a guy like him who is such a good scorer.
