Indeed, Brooks is a massive defensive liability. With Martin out there, we might have the worst defensive/best offensive backcourt in the league.

You are an example of a hater! Your post makes me think back to the playoffs last year when brooks would take over in the 4th against the lakers. Kobe of course overules but man he was good!

Shot blocking bigs make up a lot for that...and they can still score....

Adelman's offense is not PG dominated and the ball is shared. Thats why i think it can work with brooks starting. However, to say brooks has good court vision is absurd.

which shows more court vision? Throwing on a pass on a breakaway or threading the needle through traffic for the easy dunk. C'mon now..

he has the same players in the 4th quarter as he does in the first quarter, he does much better in the 1st quarter.

    Why?

because when the defensive intensity and pressure goes up, his decision making is exposed.

On a championship team, he is best used as a 6th man off the bench, ala Jason terry, where he is used create offensive mismatches and score.

What about a bounce pass from the baseline to a cutting big?

Or a wrap around to a wide open Shane or KMart at the 3pt line.

He is making GREAT passes that are not easy.....

Is he Jason Kidd....No, of course not....but these are the best passes in the half court offense by a PG on the team.

Even Lowry doesn't really make great half court passes, most of his assists are off the break or drive and kick out.....same as Brooks.

And yes Chuck Hayes has better vision that Brooks; he just doesn't have the handles and quickness to play PG (6'6" size seems to be fine though)

This is a little bit early for me to say, but Kevin Martin has had a very positive impact on Brooks' play. I'm seeing passes from AB that I've never seen before. Smarter decisions with the basketball overall. I like what I'm seeing.

I'll be the first to admit that I was wrong about AB if he can keep up this kind of effort through the end of the season.

AB has both, it just depends upon what he is asked to deliver.

Rick Adelman has never needed a TRUE type of PG to run the show....

AB is fine here in Houston.

It is what a lot of us were saying about him being saddled with Battriza and Hayes as starters.

Well spoken Entropy + Rep for you.

Having the talent to make the pass is one thing, having the ability to read the defense and see it is another. Yes he needs both he has good court vision and he shows flashes of what kind of passing ability he could have if he continues to grow. Ex. The bounce pass

It's not about the flashy pass, anybody can throw a high risk flashy pass, it comes down to decision making, which sets to run, who has the mismatches on the court, how is the defense playing, what adjustments to make, etc... These things do not show up on a boxscore nor do they make sportscenter, but they are critical to winning.

An easy layup has a much higher percentage of getting points than getting someone an open 3...or an open jumpshot..What if the team is ice cold?..I'm not seeing any passes that are setting Brooks apart from the rest of the team...I've seen Battier make passes that Brooks is making...like getting chuck hayes the easy layup. With that said.. is his passing and court vision adequate? Yes, because of how the offense works..But again..to say Brooks has good court vision is ludicrous..

    Voice of reason!

I wish we had Deron Williams to play with Yao.
