Again, you're way overestimating Bonzi's contributions to our 9 game winning streak....He hasn't exactly fueled it..

the return of Mcgrady, the insertion of scola into the starting 5, rafers hot streak, and Yao's dominance are what made it happen.

Also, since when did mentioning teammates in post game interviews help win games?

Neither Bonzi or Jackson will be a decider on how we do in the playoffs. This trade was the only way we could get James' albatross contract off our books. It gives us much more flexibility in coming years to tweak our roster.

I think it might hurt us a bit this year, we will see, but next year we will have a nice sized expiring contract along with freed up space from losing bonzi, francis, and snyder. It won't get us a super star, but it should get us someone else who will better fit the puzzle. Our only hope of competing this year is if this is a pre-cursor to getting Artest or Miller, which I doubt.

This is just Rockets management being realistic and setting the team up for a run in the next couple of years. I think Morey is much like the Texans general manager and is doing a great job of slowly, but surely cleaning up the prior mess that was made by Carol Dawson and Rudy, while giving us at least a fighter's chance of being competitive in the mean time.

No...i wasn't thinking about Bobby Jackson. However, I've been on record saying that Aaron Brooks was the next Bobby Jackson.....how ironic.

Ok...back to the question. "Why do we need Bobby Jackson?"
Well....Rafer is logging a lot of minutes....like 40 a game. Eventhough I love Aaron Brooks, he's not ready quite yet and would be a issue if he's the back up point come playoff time. Not enough experience. Bobby has made a career from doing what he's about to do for us. Come in off the bench and make shots....clutch shots...open shots....covered shots....doesn't matter. He can handle the pg duties along with running the offense because he knows it like the back of his hand.

Bonzi will be missed, but his PRODUCTIVITY can be replaced. Eventhough Landry can't cover all small forwards, he can give you the same numbers (9ppg and 6rpg) with increased minutes. If we need someone to cover a small forward of big guard....we still have Kirk Snyder for that.

And we cleared mike james contract.....huge for next year especially when bobby's contract will be an expiring one.

    Good trade for both teams

    Dude you are trippin'

We didn't trade Mcgrady. We traded Bonzi freakin' Wells. We will still be a solid team going in to the playoffs so long as Yao and Tmac are here and Rafer, Scola, Landry, Head etc are contributing.

We need to lower our expectations as fans then.We might as well face the reality taht this season was a watse as well as our 9 game winning streak because management is planning for next season with a older tracy mcgrady who is on the decline of his career.

We should tank the season if it's all for next season

In terms of talent at best this was a lateral move for the Rockets. This move had nothing to do with talent. Wells was the price the Rockets had to pay to get out from underneath James' contract.

For NO though it was an out and out steal. Their bench is notoriously weak and Wells is probably going to be a big help there. If the Rockets had to trade to anybody I would have preferred that this type of deal happen with somebody in the East. Or at least out of the division.

All i'm saying is it's not NEARLY as horrible as you're making it out to be....Why don't you just wait and see? This thread isn't going anywhere. If we sharply decline and fall down the standings, I will gladly eat crow...Until then, stop whining.

We'll see... if Rafer's minutes are actually reduced, I'm all ears, but I'm very curious to see how this shakes out with playing time.

Is Aaron Brooks out of the rotation?

Is Luther Head supposed to fill Bonzi Wells' role?

Bobby Jackson's shooting percentages are only a little bit better than Mike James' terrible season this year. The +/- isn't great either for a top contender. BUT, we know that he knows the offense and will be trusted by Adelman, which clearly wasn't the case with James for whatever reason.

James was to Adelman as Wells was to JVG

I think Brooks is probably out of the rotation. Since the Portland game, I would say his play has been sub-par. Adelman hasn't trusted him enough to play him in the fourth when the score is tight. I think this will definitely reduce Rafer's minutes in the second half of games.

That's my question too, where is he getting minutes? I think he may be too much of a defensive liability to play at 2 guard, but its taking minutes away from Brooks if he's strictly the back up 1. Brooks has clearly hit the rookie wall, he's been in a slump for quite a while now, but I think he should be afforded more than garbage time to get himself back into the swing of things. Anyway I'm starting to warm up to it, but I'll just have to see how Adleman puts all this together to be sure.
