You cant leave James out of it...HE WAS INVOLVED IN THE TRADE. and it was a good move to unload his salary and get a player whose contract is expiring next season who can help us land a artest type of player.

Jackson now gives us a vet PG who can step up and hit an open J. We've been lacking that for a while.

Getting to the line put’s your team in the bonus faster, even when you are missing. Landry gets dunks on people when folks get him the rock in good position. He is a finisher. That is a vast difference from someone creating their own offense from the perimeter, which Bonzi is able to do (and was one of the few wings on our team with that ability).

Yes, it is lightyears and I don’t think you will find too many who agree with your take. When it comes to creating your own offense, especially on the peirmiter, Wells owns Landry period. And we didn’t “win” without him last year. One of the primary reasons that we got booted in round 1 is because we didn’t have another player that could create his own shot when the set plays don’t work (i.e. PLAYOFF BASKETBALL). We were losing with him as a starter because he is not T-Mac (who we were missing). He is a nice wing to have off the bench though

Was this at the SF/SG position?

No, you are making Landry out to be a multi-faceted player that can give us solid production at the 3, when he has shown nothing to make anyone even think that is remotely possible.

From a basketball stand point, right now,on a 9 game winnning streak, chemistry, unity built from the wininning streak, player personality clashes, for us fans this was a WACK TRADE.

Tracy didn't want a trade and tracy appreciated bonzi's toughness and he was one of his favorite teammates,Tracy always mentiones bonzi wells in post game interviews. Tracy and bobby had a fight in a game before and to trade bonzi for an enemy in my opinion does nothing good for the chemistry and psyche of this team who are on a roll.We have won 9 games in a row and to make a non lateral trad like this that doesn't make us any worse or any better is STUPID and only for MANAGEMENT not for the product or us fans.

Ya know. The more I think about this trade, the more I find it verry interesting that Memphis is a 3rd team in this deal. ;)

The Rockets have decided they're not going to contend this year. Dumping James' contract opens up the possibility of acquiring free agent talent when the season ends.

Bobby Jackson?!? Who are we trading for next, Peja Stojakovic? Is Doug Christie and Vlade Divac going to come out of retirement next?

But seriously. It's too early to judge this trade. Wait to see if we make any more moves or Bobby Jackson plays a few games with this team and then make an evaluation.

He can hit a open J just as good as luther head or aaron brooks, He doesn't make us better, the trade doesn't help us on the court right now, this season. HORRIBLE,moral let down trade, esepcially because we have won 9 in a row and are playing well.

wutthefuk is this? There better a catch to this one. They say memphis is involved, but how? Bonzi is the best player in this deal and even though we dont need mj his value is still higher than what we got for him and my man bonzi!!!!

Okay Bonzi is better at Landry at creating off the dribble. You are correct. But this is my point.....Ideally, In our offense, do you really want Bonzi creating for himself....Hell no. That is probably one of the lowest percentage plays we had. I would much rather see Tracy swinging it over to Jackson for a J and having Landry positioned underneath for an offensive rebound....Bonzi can slash go to the hole off the dribble, but you're making it seem like he's lebron when he's really just....Bonzi Wells.

Here is why I think that this was a good trade.

Not only does this give us luxury tax relief, it gives us flexibility to sign better players next year.

Imagine having Mike James for two more years just riding the bench and receiving checks. I'm hopeful that Bobby Jackson still has enough left in the tank to become the veteran point guard we need to close out fourth quarter games.

Our roster looks pretty good for next year:

    1. We have Bobby Jackson who is a large expiring contract. This is good for trading to teams who want salary relief. Just look at what Kwame Brown's expiring contract got for the Lakers this year -- Pau Gasol.

    2. We have our core signed up to 2010 which consists of Yao, Tracy, Shane, Rafer, and Scola. Luther Head is also signed for cheap.

    3. This offseason we will have Kirk Snyder and Steve Francis off our salary books. Non-contributers for this season.

    4. Our rookies will Steve Novak, Aaron Brooks, and Carl Landry will still be here next year for cheap.

    5. We'll be able to replace Bonzi's minutes with extended minutes given to Head/Landry.

As Feigen at the Chronicle wrote, "...the last burdensome contract is gone."

This trade isn't about this season. At best it's a lateral move. It's about giving the Rockets the ability to pursue talent next season.

So, essentially it's Bonzi for Jackson?!? Ouch. Don't know about that deal. Bonzi's been solid - not great, but solid. At this stage of his career, what's Jackson gonna' do for the Rox? Some D, knows the system, but that's about it.

So if we start losing again,We should just accept it and patiently waint for next season huh, forget about getting all riled up for this season,Why bother to watch any more games if we are just going to tank the season.

    So we are TANKING
