why in god's name would we trade to someone not only in our conference...but in our division that we are competing with. not to mention this makes new orleans better and us WORSE. I'm scared.

if this deal does go through, I am offically quitting the illusion of Rockets getting out the first round this year.

Think for just one second, of the top 4-5 teams (Suns/Laker/Mavs/Hornets/Jazz), which team we are going to be able to beat with the current lineup-Bonzi/James

I know MJ has not been playing too much lately but he might turn it around late in the playoff. It's more like a mental thing he needs to break though. MJ could still play

What if leaking this story is just a move by Morey to put the heat on the Griz to move Miller! (total conjecture but this trade is so bad for our "win now" philosophy that I have to believe something else is going on)

Awful, just awful, unless we're not getting the whole story.

I am one and maybe only one on board for this deal. Getting rid of Mike James would be a great move, Bonzi is good only in spurts. I think Butler would be a significant addition the guy always kills us, would provide great spacing for Yao and Tmac. Jackson when healthy could add some depth to our backup position, my only knock on him he hogs the ball.

I thought rockets were trying to move Snyder. This trade sounds weird without him, unless its a multi-team deal or something.

So if we make this trade then do nothing else, I think our rotation should look something like this:

    PG: Rafer 32, B. Jackson 8, Brooks 8
    SG: T-Mac 28, Head 20
    SF: Battier 34, T-Mac 8, Snyder 6
    PF: Scola 22, Landry 20, Hayes 6
    C: Yao 36, Scola 12

...I guess that's not that bad. Getting out from MJ's contract is definitely a plus, but I dunno... our lineup certainly looks better with another big guard.

If this is the only trade for the Rockets before the deadline, I would be VERY upset as a Rocket fan...as should the rest of the Rockets fans.

This trade, if alone, is a straight up salary dump.

You don't make salary dump trades if you're in the thick of making the playoffs. The team is competing at a high level, and it's translating to wins.

Yet, the owner wants to save money by sending away a key contributor during this win streak?

Artest or Miller better be in a Rockets uniform this season if the Hornets trade goes down.

    LOL!

Hopefully its Snyder and Newley or something and not Bonzi included in this deal.

Hmmm... good point. But Bonzi was an expiring they probably would've wanted...

What the hell? Salary dump is fine, but we're in the middle of a playoff push.

Is Bobby Jackson really even a step up from Aaron Brooks or Luther Head? Jeez.

The story is that Les$ is cheap and wants to save a dollar or two instead of pursuing a championship.

Gezz, even a little kid knows there is no free lunch. No spending, no ring, unless you are a genius.

there's really only 2 ways of looking at this proposed deal:

    1. pure salary dump; rockets are content with what they have and need/want the payroll flexibility this offseason while the hornets pick up a 1/2 season rental on bonzi for a title push and then bonzi bolts

    2. precursor to another deal for artest or m. miller, artest making more sense assuming the kings insistence on brooks is true.

so we'd be looking at something similar to:

    bonzi
    james
    brooks
    snyder
    francis
    head
    probable 1st rd. pick

    for:

    jackson
    butler
    artest

all in all i would consider that a definite upgrade in our roster.
