I like Bonzi, but I think Bobby is slightly better than him, especially the outside shot

    Hello.

Vinicius has to go to Memphis to make the salaries tolerable. Houston is probably giving Memphis the cash to take that player on, because they have the roster spot where Houston does not. Then in turn we can deal Haluska with Head, Snyder, and Brooks to Sacramento for Artest. There you have it.

Les has to make up his mind. He owes it to the fans, just be honest about your business.

Wa? As if Bonzi is hindering Head's performance. And Barry doesn't bring Bonzi's skill set.

    Bonzi > Snyder

    and not even close

Bonzi's help defense will be missed, our team defense might suffer from this, he got alot of slap aways and rebounds

but it wasn't likely he would have resigned here

I see Bobby as trade fodder throughout the next season

If Artest or Miller on not on this team by tomorrow afternoon, I'm done with the Rockets for the season.

The two guys responsible for JVG's departure - Bonzi and Vspan - are now also gone.

    Wow, great ****ing planning.

OMG I just saw this. When I saw the words 'official' in the thread title my heart skipped a beat. I can't believe it. I'm shocked.

I can only hope this is prelude to a Christmas-like morning, rushing to the computer hoping to see that another trade has been made before 3pm or whatever the deadline is.

    PG: Alston, Jackson, Brooks, Francis
    SG: McGrady, Head, Haluska
    SF: Battier, Snyder
    PF: Scola, Landry, Novak
    C: Yao, Hayes, Deke

Definately need to waive Haluska and bring in another 2/3.

Bonzi was redundant....Snyder can do his job, and Bobby Jackson is shooting 36% from 3pt land....

That is a MASSIVE upgrade to 21% from Bonzi.....

Not to mention we just picked up a VERY competitive guy who attacks the basket from the PG position.

Say goodbye to 4th quarter collapses....

This is a MUCH better trade than people think...especially if Mike Harris or Brent Barry sign now.

    WELL DONE MOREY !!

Well, to look on the bright side, the Rockets' long-term salary cap situation is looking pretty darned good. For perhaps the first time since the championship years, the Rockets don't have ANY truly "bad" contracts, unless you count the slightly-above-reasonable salaries for Shane Battier and Rafer Alston (both of whom are critical to the team's success). Here is a breakdown:

    Expiring contracts (summer 2008):
--Steve Francis (player option - but likely to be exercised)
    --Kirk Snyder
    --Dikembe Mutombo
    --Steve Novak (team option)
    --Adam Haluska (team option)
    --Carl Landry

    Expiring contracts (summer 2009):
    --Bobby Jackson
--Steve Francis (assuming player option exercised in summer 2008)
    --Luther Head (restricted)
    --Aaron Brooks (team option)

In the summer of 2009, the Rockets will only have the following players tied up (assuming no significant additions before then):

    Yao Ming (2 years remaining)
    Shane Battier (2 years remaining)
    Tracy McGrady (1 year remaining)
    Rafer Alston (1 year remaining)
    Luis Scola (1 year remaining)
    Chuck Hayes (1 year remaining)
    Aaron Brooks (team option)
Carl Landry (if re-signed this summer)

After this trade, the Rockets may have one of the best long-term salary cap situations for any team that is a real contender.

Just an incomprehensible trade. We're suppose to get better not worse.

We trade the only guy who can back up t-mac - a guy who grabs rebounds and can score for a guy who looks like a lesser version of Rafer Alston??????

What on earth are we doing? We're making New Orleans better, and ourselves worse?????

What a bone-headed move. So much for trying to fill in a missing piece to compete. Just a dumb move. Awful.
