Looks like a salary dump to me. We are basically giving them Wells to take on Mike James contract. Not sure if this is on Morey or Les, since Morey also believes in keeping the payroll low to keep flexibility.

Bobby Jackson and T-Mac have that "punch" thing.

Jackson has a similar-valued deal as James, just one year less. Unless the Rockets get something else in the deal, they're doing this for luxury tax purposes. Sure, Jackson will contribute, but at a cost of Wells -- this smacks of a Les salary dump.

Jackson is putting up Raferesque shooting numbers, but if James isn't going to play though, I guess we'll just have to take it.

It also could be a prelude to the Mike Miller deal.
Get Jackson and expiring contract and ship him to Memphis along with Snyder, Head and Francis or some sort combo ultimately giving Memphis 100% expiring contracts.

It would make sense... unless we've decided that T-Mac/Battier/Head is enough at the 2/3 spots, or even that we could start giving Snyder some minutes. :(

We couldn't have gotten Mike Miller or someone else for Bonzi? I'm not too hot on this... especially since Jackson is injury prone.

Since we don't even use James then it becomes a Bonzi for Jackson/Butler deal which isn't bad. I am with jwill, though, that it makes more sense if coupled with another trade.

IMO Bonzi is exactly what the Hornets need off the bench. As potential playoff opponents to the Rockets I don't see why they're doing it.

Bobby Jackson is just taking a year off Mike James contract. I don't feel he's going to be missing piece that makes the Rockets contenders.

Unless it's a three way trade that also lands Artest and we're losing Brooks I don't like it very much.

    exactly what i'm thinking.

morey is better than that. there's got to be another deal in place if this happens. cause it doesn't make a whole lotta sense as a stand alone deal.

If Butller isn't included, do the rockets get cap space to make another move. What if there is a 3-team deal in the works. maybe we're clearing cap space to bring in a legitimate 3rd scorer. I hope espn reports all the possibilities during halftime tonight. At this point I trust Morey because he's been nearly flawless so far.( we can't really blame him for James and Francis) This has been crazy.

I have been of this line of thought as well while listening to all the rumors about Artest and Miller today. It is more than apparent the Rockets are interested in Artest but are unwilling to part with Brooks. This might just allow them to do that (part with brooks that is). Maybe this is just part of a bigger deal or just wishful thinking I guess we will all have to patiently wait and see it play out in the next 24 hours.

Creating space for Miller or Artest while acquiring a PG?

I wonder what the rest of this thing is.

I'm leery at first glance without hearing it all.

Bonzi's a key figure and Morey's not going to just deal him unless he knows we're getting a bigtime player on the backside.
    I really trust him though.Right now I'm underwhelmed,but again,we don't have all the info.

Bobby has played for Adelman.Yes,he is injured more than most, but that's a product of the way he plays the game.GREAT defensive player and can be plugged into the system.

More notes -- we play the Hornets in a couple of days. Could be interesting.

Also, as others have mentioned, if this is a prelude to getting Miller or Artest, I'm 100% on board. But with Bonzi gone, there goes a $2-$3 million expiring.

As a straight up trade, it's advantage Hornets, in my opinion.

Unless they got a deal for Artest, this is a pretty dumb deal.

This is the big deal? A terrible move, more of a loss than a gain.

Not necessarily a 3 way trade but whoever the Rockets trade for I think they can package them within 24/48hrs in another trade?

Whats the policy on trading players you just traded for. I think the NBA changed it so you can trade players you just acquired, not sure tho.

les has proven to us over and over again

    he is not Mark Cuban

and he is not really willing to win.

If he really did we would have had some trades in place already. Look at the Jason Kidd trade and the Shaq trade. All of them cost their owners MONEY.
Guess what our owner thinks about that.

End of the day is, its either a multi team trade, or a trade with a trade to follow

    or

a salary dump. Bear in mind Bobby jackson played for the Kings so he would fit in seamlessly
