Maybe Bobby Jackson could be used as trade bait for something else? It is a multi player deal. Getting rid of James contract and getting a contract that expires next season is alrite. I don't like getting rid of Bonzi BUT if this trade goes through maybe we have something else in the works?

I guess this trade would make a bigger impact next year then this year. We get rid of Mike james contract and Bobby Jackson would be an expiring deal next year which might help us do a bigger trade at that point.

As for this year, I would rather keep Bonzi cuz I think he is a lot more useful to this team then Jackson would be. I think this is a perfect example of a better to stand pat then make a trade type scenario.

Bonzi is playing well recently. Maybe this is part of a 3 way deal to land Artest since the Kings want expirings.

Is it a good trade alone? Well, does Bonzi's play outweigh the potential to get rid of Mike James contract this year?

I'm all for unloading Mike James, and if Bonzi isn't in the Rockets future plans, it doesn't break my heart to part with him. However, I don't feel like a broken down Bobby Jackson would be of much help to us - and worse still - I feel like losing Bonzi will hurt us in the short term. Especially in the playoffs.

Basically, I'm not excited about this deal in the slightest, but it doesn't quite break my heart.

Bonzi has been playing well,Jackson doesn't even really play with the hornets + he's washed up.

I might be expecting too much here, but the biggest problem with dealing Brooks in an Artest deal would be the lack of a dependable backup PG to replace his minutes. Bobby Jackson would alleviate that concern...

This is assuming we land Artest to begin with. And if Bonzi or James isn't in the Artest deal, then who is?

It just occurred to me - this is a salary dump that doesn't make us better. Could it be that the reason we don't mind parting with Wells is because we expect to acquire another 2/3 that could replace him? Perhaps Miller or Artest?

That would make a WHOLE lot of sense. Especially if Brooks is involved in the trade, because we'd then lose salary to make room for new big salary player and gain a back up point guard to replace Brooks.

Hopefully the trade doesn't go through, seems like one of those steve francis/mike james trades done in the off season that didn't help us one bit because steve and mike were both over the hill just like bobby jackson.

Obviously a cap move, not a basketball move. I'd hate to lose Bonzi.

I've always liked Jackson, though. Plays with heart, has a pretty decent stroke. Too bad he's so old.

Kings does not want expirings, period.

They could just let Artest walk away after the season, no need to take expiring contracts. They are looking for talents for Artest

morey is smart. and you're right. this deal could either set up more deals to trade for artest or it could be a great deal a year from now when his contract is off the books and we can sign some good free agents.
