Uh, not funny, and this has been a season long case of Bonzi underperforming and not quite fitting in...but Chilly, thanks for joining the trolls and coming into a thread and not contributing one worthwhile post. Kudos to joining Sam's trollish army. You know the ones where they come into a thread...BY CHOICE and instead of participating in the thread, they wine or b**** and moan about the thread but not actually participate in it. Well done, it makes this BBS special, or maybe you could reform and actually contribute to a conversation instead of whining about it? HMMMMMMMMM DD
Well I've lost a step, and I am very lazy on posting, how many replies bounced just to the right or left of me and I just let them go?
That is true, I just never understand people who come into a thread voluntarily to whine about the thread....unless it is bothering Clutch or the crew, it is pretty much pointless. Clutch told me to cut down on the V-Span stuff, so I politely obliged. Now I post a thread about trading one of our assets that is not quite fitting in...IMHO, and I get a few people that come in to whine about it.....while others are in here contributing. You are free to post whatever you want, of course......but don't be shocked if you come in supporting an A-Hole position and you get called on it. If you think the idea is bad, and Bonzi is fitting in fine...then say so....enter the debate......that is way chillier than joining the troll army. DD
I am not trying to be a troll, I just think Bonzi played well in the first half and very poorly in the 2nd half. Anytime I see a trade thread after a loss, it always strikes me as being a knee jerk reaction. I have never been a proponent of let's just trade this guy because he has to go. Now if you can get fair value for him, and it is a player that will help the team, then go for it.
It has very little to do with the Dallas game, the guy simply has not fit in all that well, and when he posts he clogs the lane. But now that Snyder is healthy, and is a much better athlete and attacks the rim with authority (Something we need desperatly) it is time to end the Bonzi experiment...and release the Snyd ! Bonzi is only a one year rental anyway.....at some point he is going to be all about his stats in order to get a new contract for next year....let that time come on someone elses team. We need help at PG, and Snyder and Bonzi are about equal....keep the young athletic one and get rid of the fat malcontent. Just my .02, and thank you for actually contributing to the thread. DD
I would say, actually watch Bonzi's playoff action from last year. And see how the potential is still tantalizing enough to keep Bonzi and take a chance with him: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uca66cK-WrA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uca66cK-WrA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="500" height="400"></embed></object> That was then-this is now/What have you done for me lately, sure it all applies now -TODAY Bonzi's a lazy chubby coach killer who drags down the team on the court and yes he's absolutely going off reputation. But a problem that can still put the team over the playoff hump though. It doesnt matter to me how fluky that was, he did it and Kirk Snyder hasnt. And we don't know if a back-up point guard's gonna be enough either. Bonzi doesnt have to explode in the playoffs, doesnt even need to do half that. Just has be a healthier close to average Bonzi, and with that the team would have a shot come postseason.
Bonzi is not going to do anything like last year's playoffs. Get real everyone. He isn't the same player physically. I won't get too in depth about the part where the Rockets already have the most dominant low post player in the league and another guy on the perimeter who is a top 10 NBA player in anyone's book. How is Bonzi going to explode? Is he going to score layups on 15 cuts to the basket while Yao is posted up? Is he going to get 15 offensive rebounds per game and score on them? Maybe he will get to the line 25 times a night with a few "and 1s" in there too. I guess he will need big minutes to do this so we can deactivate Luther and cut Shane's minutes in half. Bonzi will need his 40 minutes per game and who needs a "glue guy" and a 3 point gunner when you have Wells. Last year's playoffs were the combination of three things: 1. Bonzi's greed driving him to play hard for the first time in his career 2. Sacramento's willingness to give him the ball over and over while the rest of the players just stood and watched 3. The Spurs being caught off guard by a guy whose strengths happened to match up perfectly with there weaknesses. If Bonzi stayed with Sacramento and they met the Spurs again in this year's playoffs Wells wasn't going to explode again. He certainly isn't going to do it on a squad where is always the 3rd option at best. Who won the Sacramento/S.A. series last year anyway?
Thank you very much. I've been saying this for a while but some continue to have the pipe dream that Bonzi will magically morph into something he is not. The Bonzi of last season and especially the Bonzi of last season's Spurs series is dead and gone. The lazy fat tub of lard is today's Bonzi. Hopefully he will be of use because JVG has totally committed to him, so Bonzi-lovers should be very happy. Those of us who are skeptical can just hope for the best. I still think there may be a falling out later on when JVG concludes Bonzi isn't going to cut it.
Snyder had one good game. He will be an important part of future Rockets teams, but this is Bonzi's year. If you can get equal value (Which I doubt) do it. But Snyder has not been even near consistent (referring to his early season playing time). Bonzi stays.
DD has brought up some interesting points but I agree with the posters who say that Bonzi should be retained unless we can equal value for him which is unlikely.
Sorry I haven't been around to answer this sooner but here goes... Yes I think he could net us Jason Hart or Chucky Atkins, and I don't know what an Earl Watson type player means. I do not think that Jason or Chucky would be anything more that 3rd string PG's on this team. Would it be nice to have Chucky on our bench? Sure, but I don't think he would have as much impact in the playoffs as Bonzi can. Will Bonzi provide us with anything in the playoffs? Maybe. His potential impact is far greater than Chuckys will ever be and that's a fact. I'm not opposed to trading Bonzi but I am realistic about what we can get for him and we are not going to get a starting point guard for him. If we do then great, trade his a$$.
I believe Kirk should be in our rotation. On the same token, I think trading Bonzi now is not so smart, b/c I believe his trade value is a little low now. I wish JVG would just play both players in a larger rotation. We got Bonzi so cheap, and I think it's in the team's best benefit to play Snyder b/c he seems to be committed to playing and helping THIS team. Bonzi is just playing for his next contract... Just my dos cents.
magloire would be a perfect fit here....Bonzi and trade exception for him...though i don't think they'd want him back,
INteresting stat. The rockets are 10-11 in games that Wells has appeared in. He's the only Rockets on the team to have a losing record in games played with us decision.
we must keep bonzi we can trade sura plus john lucas for earl watson. this will give seattle salary cap relief plus rid of us of lucas
I think it is naive for people to think that, despite Bonzi's chronic underwhelming performance the entire season thus far, once the playoffs rolls around Van Gundy's going to flip some plastic switch in the middle of Bonzi's back, and all of the sudden he's going to play very well. Its not too late yet but that time is steadfastly approaching. The Rockets need to cut their losses and run. Dump him on anyone who's willing to take him and give something (anything!) else in return.
