Trade Bonzi, he doesn't fit here.

No, I think Kirk Synder provides something this team lacks...someone who relentlessly attacks the basket.

And, if by trading Bonzi you are upgrading our most glaring weakness.....PG....that is a good thing...right.

I am happy with our record.....but it could be better.....I want to win a championship, not go out in the first round...what about you?

Big Bonz did seem a step slow when he was on Howard but i think he and Kirk should have been in the game to match up better against them

I like the idea of play Tmac as a starting PG, together with Bonzi or Snyder (SG), Battier (SF), Hayes (PF), and Yao (C), with Alston/Head/Howard/Deke on the bench. Bonzi can share some SF time with Battier. Now who is gonna guard Tmac at the PG? Take Mavs as an example, Ok, they have Buckner, that leaves Jet, Howard, Dampier and Dirk. Bonzi will probably be taken by Howard. And Battier should eat Jet alive. You may argue Dirk can help, I can bring Jawon then if they leave Hayes alone.

Well duh...We will get Yao back and Bonzi will be ready by playoff time. Bonzi can attack the rim also and the rust needs to go away. I know its taking a while but he will come around. He needs another contract and will work to secure at least a full MLE from some team. I want another PG, but I dont thing trading Bonzi will be best way to go about acquiring one

Also, every team's record COULD be better. We are still doing BETTER than expected after Yao went out.

I don't think the old Bonzi will come back this year, He will get better but I don't see him getting in that much better shape.

And since he is not going to be here next year let's trade him somewhere that can help us out.....at one of our weakest areas.

Anyway, we aren't going to agree, I think he is a tradable asset that we can use to upgrade our team, especially since he won't be here next year, and you think he is the missing piece.

    I guess we shall see.

Dude, Snyder isnt that good. He is athletic, but not a significant upgrade over the fat Bonzi we have right now. He reminds me of Stromile at the SG spot-athletic but bad. If Snyder replaces anyone, I would want him to replace Head who is undersized, underquicked, and 1 dimensional.

Give Bonzi a chance, maybe he will produce in the playoffs. He still has 3 months to get in top shape.

You know how good he plays against the Spurs, even when he is chunky. The guy has an above-average mid-range game, which is hard to find. We need him against the Mavs too since they have many guys in the 6'6" range. He still has a couple of months to get in better shape and I think he will. Yep - we shall see

I understand how Snyder might just be a better fit for our rotation (although I dont think that JVG sees it that way, which ultimately, is what counts) however some posters in this thread seem to be advocating Kirk is actually a better player than Bonzi

Not at all, I am saying what Kirk brings is a better fit for the Rockets with Tmac and Yao.

Would many of you agree that there is a slight chance, say 10%, that Bonzi will absolutely explode in the playoffs? I take my chances. Just because of that possibility, it is worth to keep him.

Hmm... so its more of a Bonzi vs Quality PG + Kirk than Bonzi vs Kirk? I can dig that. Definately. But given our assets, I don't know if we can attain such a player... Carlos Arroyo would be perfect if he could be more consistent -- he's what Rafer should be imo. Fast, athletic, playmaker that can finish and shoot the midrange.

Actually Bonzi was one of the few Rockets to shoot 50% yesterday. He was also the ONLY Rocket besides Tmac to beat his man off the dribble and score. He also vastly outplayed Head given the same minutes. He also does a better job defending his man than Head. I think when teams like Dallas shut out Heads open 3s, we need to give Bonzi more minutes and Head less.

Trading Bonzi for garbage would be akin to trading Mike James for Alston. You guys have the wrong scapegoat.

What would you call exploding?? 20 and 10?? There is no way in hell he gets that w/ our team, with TMAC, Yao etc. So then, what will he get, if he plays the best he can?? 15/6 at best?? Now if we get a backup PG for him, and he can hit some open jumpers, and limit Rafer to only 25-30 mins a night, which is what he should be getting in the first place, then to me I'd rather take that, rather than hope for Bonzi to 'explode'.......

What about his horrendous effort in rebounding? There were at least 2 in the last 5 minutes that he didnt even make an effort to grab! The scapegoat for this game is JVG and free throws, but in general u cant seriously be happy with Bonzi's progression so far this year can you??

Actually I'm VERY happy with Bonzi's rebounding. He outrebounded every Rocket except Tmac and Mutombo in LIMITED minutes off the bench. He is also a guard, so Mutombo outrebounding him is expected. I'm not happy with Bonzi's progression this year, I thought he would be better, but he hasn't had enough time to gel with the team. The funny thing though, is that even an out of shape, sluggish looking Bonzi was MUCH better than any Rocket guard last night. It is painfully obvious to me that Head and Alston are going to be eaten alive by an elite team like Dallas. Bonzi is going to have to be our weapon. I think he needs more minutes.
