I'm still convinced trading Bagwell is the right direction for the Stros this year

    Summer Song Give,
My question to you would be this. If the Astros do trade Bagwell to the Red Sox. What do the Astros get???

Do any of you Red Sox fans have an idea of kind of prospects the Red Sox would give up for getting Bagwell. I would be very interested in seeing what kind of talent your talking about giving up to acquire Bags.

    Titan's fanatic!!!!

It was the first time the Titans sent an offense to the line of scrimmage with Eddie George in the backfield behind McNair to go with Wycheck at tight end and Carl Pickens, Kevin Dyson and Yancey Thigpen at wide receiver.

So many choices, with a full season still ahead.

"I think that might be scary for a defense," Dyson said.

i am with summer song giver 110%

okay guys lets see...why would we want to trade a guy that cant hit worth a sh*t in the playoffs ever? why would we want to trade a guy that does so well against the brewers and phillies in a 8 to 2 game in the 9th inning against the number 12 pitcher? yet couldnt hit a volleyball when it counts.. always swinging for the fences...hahaha...gee you guys know everything i guess....stats mean sh*t show me the money.. alou is worth double that jokeshop and if bags goes to the red sox or wherever and blows up good for him but give me a call when he's batting in game 7 of the world series for the sox...choker choker choker...

and dont give me that barry bonds crap playoffs numbers crap...we are not talking him and olajuwon folks...he delivered..what has bagwell tangibly done?(ie playoffs, clutch) and dont talk about the strike year he was on pace to be mvp...look at caminiti he actually won the mvp..where is he now...this isnt rotisserie...

get what we can while we still can...you may not be able to replace numbers ( against the phillies i remind you) but you can add clutch( very important) and add a decent numbers guys to boot...bags has no clutch whatsoever...

come back with your rebuttal on regular season stats but while you are at it let me know his playoff batting avg and all those other stats you are itching to throw...i am talking playoffs remember that...

LOSE THE GUY....and get the max and snow ball some other team who thinks he is the business...

we can get a quality CLUTCH player for him...pull the trigger...

I still fail to understand the forgiving nature of you guys with bags yet all you same people seem to bash hakeem....the philoshy is flawed a contradictory..please explain...

I am in thailand but couldnt resist this one on my 10 baud connection but i cant wait to hear the diarrehea comebacks when i return on monday...

by the way for the record anna kournikova is miles hotter than britney spears that is almost as obvious as what i am saying here...

I'm a huge Bagwell fan. But I'm a bigger Astros fan. If Bagwell asks for $15 million/year, there is no way the Astros can sign him and field a competitive team around him. That would be $23 million to just the left side of the infield..that's over 1/3 of our payroll two players. The Astros best hope is for a massive labor strike in 2001 with the owners holding firm this time. If that happens, the playing field might be narrowed. But as it stands now, a team like the Astros is at a serious disadvantage. Not as disadvantaged as the Expos or Twins, but disadvantaged nonetheless. There is no way you can Bags the kind of money he's talking about and still bolster the pitching rotation while sticking to the payroll restrictions McLane has set.

I don't think the M's thought they would end up competing after trading Randy Johnson. We were all talking about what a steal it was. Now they have Freddie Garcia and John Halama leading them to the ALCS. I'm not saying we shouldn't have made that trade...we should have!!! But I am saying that getting pitching prospects for players we might lose to free agency otherwise can prove to be extremely valuable. Bagwell's numbers are huge...but in an era of inflated offensive figures, I'd rather find some effective pitching.

If I was given the task of moving Bags Boston wouldn't be my first choice in terms of prospects,Tomo Ohka rhp looks to be a solid prospect but beyond that I'm not too high on their prospects. The team that does interest me is Cleveland because they got some great pitching prospects like Tim Drew,CC Sabathia,Danys Baez, and even headhunting Jaret Wright.Bartolo Colon would be ideal if Cleveland was willing to part with him and for Bagwell they might be.Russell Branyan a lefthanded power hitting third baseman who the Indians were forced to Dh behind Travis Fryman would also be at the top of my list.If the Indians acquired Bagwell,Branyan could be included because Thome could move to Dh and Bags would take over at firstbase. Now of course this is all just fantasy but I think it could be beneficial to both clubs.

I totally forgot the Stros released Ken Caminiti early in the off season. That's just wrong. There is no way any reasonable fan can argue that McClain is willing to spend money to win. I think his priority is profits, which I don't necessarily disagree with, but because of this I do not see him trading Bagwell yet. Unless certain things fall into place, like the astros sucking again (likely) and Bags making it clear he won't resign (possibly), then McClain won't want to lose fan interest by trading him.

If it were up to me, I'd trade him soon while the stros have the bargaining upper hand. After dumping Cammi, I am %100 sure the owner does not intend on trying his best to bring in a World Series. Either trade him now, or spend the freakin money to get the big time players! NONE of the big time free agents are currently considering the stros. They are like the opposite of the Rockets.

Yeah, why dump an old 3B who has a dependency problem and can't seem to stay healthy, especially when you have a pretty good 3B in Truby, for a lot less and a lot younger?

Because uptil his injury last season, he was performing the best offesively on the team. He also has a gun of arm that wasn't truley appreciated until they traded him. Also, he's a clutch performer in the playoffs, when things really count. And I think most would agree that the stros don't have very many clutch playoff players. So, to further strenghten one of my points that McClain ain't thinkin World Series priority #1: why trade away one of the only guys on your roster that has come up huge in the playoffs?

Right, since we won that playoff series and everything.

(sorry about the rolling eyes thing earlier, it pisses me off when people do it to me!)

Series loss wasn't Cammy's fault. He hit something like .400 in that series, with some power. Problem was that noone else showed up. BTW, while Bags is bad in the playoffs, Biggio is worse.

We might have some clutch players, who knows, problem is they're all stuck behind the non-clutch ones
