This is no rush for him to come back. We have a whole season. I hope he could well care his back before he comes back.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2694539 HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets will have to make do without superstar Tracy McGrady, whose balky back has flared up once again. The Rockets announced Monday that McGrady is suffering from back spasms and will be unavailable for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Houston's leading scorer each of the past two seasons, McGrady began experiencing back pain in Saturday's 114-109 victory over the Washington Wizards and left midway through the fourth quarter. The Rockets are listing him as day-to-day. McGrady, 27, is averaging 19.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 20 games this season. A two-time scoring champion and a six-time All-Star, McGrady has battled back from injuries throughout his career but was seriously affected by the chronic ailment for the first time last season, when he missed 34 games with a variety of problems. McGrady experienced back problems for the first time last season in early November and missed two weeks. He was sidelined one week with back spasms last January before suffering a bruised tailbone on March 10, an injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the season.
I believe last year Mcgrady missed his first game when we played the lakers at home as well...hopefully its just a coincidence
Bonzi is done. You won't see him in an NBA uniform again this season, and perhaps ever again. We're 14-6, we can afford to lose a few games....better to have t-mac healthy right now.
NewYorker...how can you say Bonzi will probably never put on an NBA uniform again? Man, that's just ignorant. Besides the fact that he's back to practicing with the team, there is no way in hell that talent like he has will go untouched by other franchises. I think he'll be playing for the Rox VERY soon and contribute a lot before the season's over because I doubt this will be Tmac's first missed game and Bonzi will have to fill the hole. Again, ignorant post dude.
T-Mac is "damaged" perhaps. I highly doubt if he will EVER be 100% OK. Rockets better start planning without him. Play Bonzi, Novak, V-Span....
Thats exactly what I was thinking. T-Mac had the entire offseason to be 100% and all it takes is one wrong move and his back goes out and spasms...so he will sit out this game and feel better for the next but he is not 100% and you never know when the back issue will flame up again. I get scared every time he touches the ball or makes a move...it shouldn't be like that!
I know he's hurt. I know he may never be "100%" again. Yes, he will probably miss some games. Yes, he will probably be the 'jumpshooting' Tracy for stretches as well; the one who doesn't drive to the hole. Yes, I will wince and hold my breath everytime I see him take serious contact or come down funny or even go up for something as ordinary as a dunk etc. I know all of this. However, I still believe. Tracy was starting to round into form in the Wiz game (and the games prior). He was agressive and taking charge. He was using his entire arsenal. He was playing defense. I believe we will see that Tracy much more often than the one wincing in pain and leaving the game. If nothing else works, I just read the brilliant article that Ralphy Wiley wrote on Tracy a few years ago. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=1546922&type=page2Story Puts a smile on my face everytime. Get well and get back on the floor Tracy.
Great news. I don't care how good he feels... they should definitely hold him out for rest. In fact, I would love to see them take special preventitive measures like holding him out of the second games in back to backs. I can't help but think this happened because of playing too many minutes in a 5 day span. The Rockets should gladly forfeit 2-4 wins this year to try and keep Tracy healthy.
I want him to get better too, but the thing that bothers me the most about the injury was he was not doing anything too strenuos, he just jumped. Which does not bode well for the future. DD
Very true. I hate to type it but T-Mac not being able to play a season without being injured should send out a red flag to the Rockets and maybe a trade that will get some value back for T-Mac maybe in the future for the Rockets. I just wished he was able to come back though and be able to play without the back becoming a distraction everytime he gets on the court.
T-Mac has CHRONIC back problem. Might as well accept the fact he won't be the same Orlando T-Mac anymore.
Yeah, we'd better let him have ten or fifteen games off. T-Mac will never again be 100% I love the guy, but his career is in the balance. If he doesn't make it past the first round this season, he may never! Um, does everyone agree that Bonzi will be more healthy than T-Mac tomorrow?
THe good thing is, Rockets have been used to playing without T-mac last season and Yao Ming is comfortable shouldering the scoring load, and Bonzi will provide the offense thats missing with T-mac gone (hopefully), so T-mac's injury will turn out to be a good team-building experience
