This post is the definitive response to the fan boys who don't understand why some of the guys on this board have problems with T-Mac.

There is no point, he just likes *****ing about McGrady even though he has no idea how Tracy's feeling or how hard he's been rehabbing to get back on the floor. None of us know, so this thread is pointless. If he feels well enough to come back a little early, that's fine with me. If he feels he needs more time, that's fine too.

I really don’t like to pretend to know others motives. There have been plenty of times in my life when I’ve been called out by others for things they thought I was thinking, or attitudes they thought that I had. Most of the time they were wrong and I was shocked that I gave them that impression. Same thing has happened the other way around when I’ve tried to interpret others motives. The fact is you usually don’t really know the ends and outs of why someone behaves the way they do. Its fun to guess and gripe about, but nothing to dogmatically state.

I look at the situation this way. No matter whose side of the debate about Tracy you are on, or where you assign or don’t assign blame, history says that the Rockets will be playing large chunks of the season without T-Mac. So, just don’t ride the roller coaster. Just treat it as gravy when he’s in and on, but expect him to be out or off. In the same vein, however, history says expect him to be available and on in the play-offs. At this point, as long as the Rockets can get into the playoff healthy and are matched up against anyone but the Lakers in the first round, I don’t much care how many games T-Mac misses. I just want to see a complete uninjured Rockets play-off team playing at their best for a change.

Large chunks? I think you meant Yao there. 10-15 games really doesn't seem like a large chunk to me.

Your right. In my mind I was including the times during the season when he is in the game, but not the force he should be for whatever reason.

I was thinking about Yao too, but since the the thread was about T-Mac, I didn't want to open that whole other can of worms.

Yao is using his head most of the time. He should teach RA how to coach sometimes. I miss JVG.

It's all his fault. Everything is T-Mac's fault.

I dunno guys... what ever happened to "he's a Rocket and I support my players?". It would be one thing if he was a Ben Gordon who demands to be the highest paid player on the team, or if he was a Marbury type player that refused to play team ball, or if he was the type of player that ruins chemistry with his off the court issues (there are plenty of examples of that)... but he's not. And considering how prevalent these types of bad player attitudes there are in the league, can we just be happy that we have a core of players that aren't completely like that instead of griping at every small thing you think he might or might not be doing?

    Tracy Mcgrady returns to practice

Rockets' Artest out 2 games, but McGrady returns to practice

    By HOUSTON (AP)
    Posted Dec 11 2008 3:05PM

Houston Rockets forward Ron Artest will sit out the next two games with a sprained right ankle. Tracy McGrady practiced Thursday and may return ahead of schedule from a knee injury.

Artest sat out Monday's loss in Memphis, the first game he's missed this season. He had an MRI exam Tuesday that revealed damaged ligaments in the ankle, an old injury that Artest recently re-aggravated. Later that night, Artest played 39 minutes and scored 19 points in a win over Atlanta.

But Artest won't travel with the Rockets for their road games against Golden State on Friday and the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. He did not practice with the team on Thursday.

"He has a bad ankle, we know that," said Houston coach Rick Adelman. "He's going to play that one game (against Atlanta), and have seven or eight days off, so you're hoping it responds to that."

McGrady has missed Houston's last seven games with soreness in his left knee, the lingering effect of offseason surgery. He said last Tuesday that he would be out another three weeks, but Adelman said McGrady went full speed in practice on Thursday.

McGrady did not speak to reporters after the workout. Adelman said McGrady would not play "extended" minutes Friday because his stamina is down.

"It was good to see him out there," Adelman said. "He went through the whole scrimmage. He got tired, but he didn't limp. It's just conditioning at this point."

Sharp-shooting reserve Brent Barry, who's missed eight games with a torn calf muscle, also practiced Thursday. He was going to join the team on the weekend trip, but doubted he would be ready to play by Friday.

Barry, who missed eight games last season with a similar injury to his left calf, thought he might have returned too soon. He strained the calf a few weeks later and sat out another 20 games.

"This is something I definitely don't want to rush back into," Barry said. "Today was the first day I had a chance to run and get bumped around and make cuts and do basketball-type things. Today was a great sign, a great indication that things are progressing."

Adelman is being careful with Shane Battier, who missed the first 15 games this season with inflammation in his left foot. He's averaged 28 minutes in six games since, but Adelman is concerned about Battier playing back-to-back games.

Yao Ming, who missed a game earlier this season with a sore left foot, skipped Thursday's workout with a cold, leaving Adelman with only 10 players for the practice.

The Rockets managed to move into first place in the Southwest Division, even though they haven't had everyone on the roster healthy at the same time.

"We've got to win games and keep our heads above water," Adelman said. "If we're going to have injuries like this, you just have to win as many as you can. This group today has to realize that we can still win."

Forwards Luis Scola and Carl Landry are the only Rockets who've played in all 22 games, and Scola is the only one who's started all of them. McGrady, Yao and Battier have missed a total of 24 games to injuries already, leaving Adelman to mix and match lineups and rely heavily on bench players.

"I think the best Christmas present for Coach Adelman would be to actually give him his lineup," Barry said. "To this point, we have still not had a full complement of players available for one regular-season game. For the team, it's disappointing, for our fans, it's disappointing.

"We'd obviously like to get everybody in uniform, on the court, and try to see what we've got."

Good to see that he went through the whole practice. They said he got tired but what do you expect. ADELMAN SAID HE WILL NOT PLAY EXTENDED MINUTES. Does that mean that he will play tomorrow?

Someone can make a thread about the thread about the return to practice thing, because I can't make threads yet.

I think Tracy is playing tomorrow because it says he won't play extended minutes tomorrow but it still means he will play. Just need to get back in game shape

yea adelman said it's all conditioning at this point for him. so i guess the soreness has gone away.

NOW we all know why that rest was necessary?

If you're a Knicks fan are you seriously supposed to support Marbury? I'm not saying McGrady's that bad, but as they say around here we're fans, not cheerleaders. When a player's (or a coach's) conduct is less than professional we're allowed to call him out.

Luther Head gets a lot of unfair criticism too as far as I'm concerned. Not too much controversy here though over the bashing he regularly gets.

really, tmac playing (might?) doesn't deserve another thread. we have so many tracy threads that it really boggles up the forum.

people bash luther's for his bad play ON THE COURT. if you bash tracy for shooting 41% or jacking up long 3s, you're not going to get anything back in return b/c those are fair criticisms.

like i told you before, it's the criticisms where fans make up stuff like tracy fakes injuries, smiles b/c he enjoys losing, messes up team chemistry... and so on that makes it seem like tracy is a cancer. i mean, if you read this forum, you'd actually think tracy is a cancer and makes this team worse when he plays.

criticize the guy for his play or lack of effort, fine. those are fair. but don't criticize the guy unfairly.
