but i always hear we have one of the best chemistry in the L since tracy has been here. from JVG to morey to adelman to les to all the players. so i trust everyone in or associated with the organization. the chron has attested to that fact that their chemistry is one of the best.

so again, keep guessing and reaching.

I'd like to think if there were chemistry problems, it would be all over the media rather than just coming from one guy. This type of news is what the media would eat up.. and its telling that this hasn't really been reported at all other than from one guy.

You need to do some thinking. The timeframe for Paige's comments was before the 22 game win streak which was widely attributed to excellent chemistry. Which is why way back when I stated that I wasn't sure chemistry was still an issue, although it might have been last season.

if the lakers play the celtics right now, who would you choose?

the lakers have a deeper team offensively, the best offensive player in basketball, but 90% of the world would choose the celtics right now simply b/c of their superior defense.

let me give you some "stats" on the celtics last yr IN THE PLAYOFFS:

offense
94ppg (you think we're pathetic scoring, celts struggled mightily last yr to score in the playoffs)
44% fg (mediocre)
36% 3pt (above average)

now let's go to the defense and rebounding
88ppg
42% fg
32% 3pt
a +4 rebounding edge

they had "just enough" offense with their 3 stars to close out games (pierce or allen or KG stepped up). but they won with their superior defense.

we have enough players now to eventually improve enough to score 96-97 pts consistently. but if we don't get back to holding teams around 41-42% fg and outrebounding teams on a consistent basis, we're not going to win.

Probably the Lakers, quite frankly. They've got Bynum back and their offense is humming right along. They showed that they can play ferocious D in the earlier part of this season and that leads me to suspect that will in the playoffs as well.

As for the Celtics last year they got taken to seven games against a #8 seed. They took more games to get to the Finals than any other champion in the history of the NBA.

The real point is this: at this point in time the Rockets couldn't beat either one in a seven game series.

right now, the rockets can't. but they're unhealthy, different lineups every night, and the defensive philosophy has been lost. ask me in march and i have a better answer.

pierce, ray, and KG never won big in the playoffs. so i think the pressure got to them initially (that's why their defense carried them). but once they hit detroit and LA, they rolled through them with ease.

listen to LA radio bro. they're all stressing out (despite 18-3) b/c their defense has been as soft as cheese the past 10 games.

Listen to Morey. You need defense but you also need some offense. You can't struggle to make 90 points every night and expect to get anywhere no matter how good your defense is.

The Rockets have no identity as a team on the offensive end right now. They're never going to go anywhere until they figure out what Rockets basketball is and play it.

i know we need offense. but we have guys who want to work hard and more talented players than ever so offense is not going to be a problem once we get everyone back.

in the 3 games prior to tracy being out (the road trip), our offense was smooth. it's inconsistent b/c different guys are out and thus different guys have to take on roles that they're not used to.

despite that, we're putting up 96 ppg. offense will be better.

our offensive identity: play off tracy and yao. that has always been the case, even under adelman. but guys have got to make open shots, penetrate when they get those passes even if they're open, and attack. make defenders guard them and not just double tracy and yao.

i thought JVG's offensive philosophy was good. he just played rafer, hayes, head, battier WAY TOO MUCH. now we have landry, brooks, scola, artest. more talent -> it will be fine.

i want us to get back to being a scary defensive team.

Part of it is Tracy admirably wanting to keep the team afloat and not leave them out to dry. But the flipside of it is Tracy looking for spots where he can take in-season vacations and not take a lot of heat for it. He tried to do the same thing in April 2007, only to have JVG publicly call him out on it.

Tracy doesn't have a ton of desire or dedication. He can be amazing, but doesn't have it in him to so for 82+playoffs. He was lazy when he came into the league until his coach tore into him and got him to work in Toronto. He gave up on his team in Orlando, and got Horace Grant shipped out when he called him on it and called out Doc Rivers for allowing him to loaf. Jeff held his feet to the fire and got a lot out of him, but with a lack of tough leadership again, McGrady's old habits are back.

He is who he is, a semi-retired former star. I just hope that he plays hard while Ron's out before he goes back on vacation.

So is McGrady just sitting out becuase he feels like it? How can he say he needed 3 weeks and now he may come back early. What is going on with our trainers and McGrady doesn't make any sense. It was like when he injured himself and said he would have to shut it down for a while and then came back and played the next game. This guy is a big time faker and needs to be traded. I'm so sick of this crap every year! We should have a smiliar record to the Celtics, Cavs, and Lakers we certainly have the talent. McGrady will always be a loser!

You cannot have the coach saying one thing, like play my offense, and the team doing another, like playing iso basketball. If the coach and the team aren't on the same page the Rockets are going to end up going nowhere. The Lakers run a motion offense too. If the Rockets start looking like the Lakers, with beautiful ball movement, then they'll be getting somewhere.
