The grass is always greener on the other side. or.. he'll crawl in his hole and give up. Why don't you think he doesn't sit on the bench when he's playing at home. He hears to much crap from the fans and can't handle it. I was a Rockets sponser for the Rockets a couple of years back and did a job in Pearland where there was going to be a guest appearance from a Rockets player. I asked the Rockets Managment that day who was going to be there and if it was going to be Mcgrady? She said "No" and I asked "why not?", she said "He doesn't liked too asked tough questions". Shortly after David Wesley showed with his family. I'm all for sending him somewhere he plays better.
It might be that thin video board that rings the arena all along the bottom of the cheap seats/club level - it could be a distraction to a shooter at a given angle.
I don't care if he like to answer tough questions or not. That's not his job. As long as he win games for the team. He's hurt, let him heal. We can still catch up after the All Star break. As long as both Yao and Tmac are healthy by then, there will be a good chance the team go deep in the playoff.
The LED electronic board is in every single NBA arena now. It's pretty much standard that all NBA venues have it. As a spectator, I LOVE the Toyota Center. It's such an intimate setting. But, I will say that they need some new lights in there. The lighting is HORRID. Either have it bright like the Pepsi Center in Denver, American Airlines Center in Dallas, Energy Solutions Arena in Utah OR have the special lights out effect like the LA Lakers have in the Staples Center (which is awesome). The Rockets can do that to the Toyota Center since the NBA changed the lighting for the All-Star game several years back.
guys i think you are missing a key point here Houston Rockets Career Road 122 38.7 43.3% 77.2% 33.5% 27.0 71-51 Home 113 37.3 41.8% 70.3% 31.5% 22.6 74-39 Take a look at the record. At home, fewer games, but more wins, and fewer losses. At Home rockets win somewhere around 65% While the away record is around 58% Even this year the difference is notorious. Maybe it has to do with how the rest of the players play at home and away So maybe this leads that while at home, the offense is more balanced, and when they play away the offense goes way more through T-Mac. Should be interested to see if the rest of the players have are in a similar situation, but the other way around, meaning they are better playing at home than away.
The depth perception thing would effect the opponent too. Since we play 41 games there as opposed to the opponents 1 or 2 then its an automatic advantage. Not something to complain about. Oh and here is a novel idea. Drive the damn ball and stop settling for 20fters if you are having problems seeing. McGrady can get any shot he wants especially with the new puss-era officiating.
Bob Marley, the fans aren't the ones who are getting paid 90 million dollars to make shots. In fact, we are the ones who pay to watch the players make shots. Interesting concept right?
Well, it would effect shooters/scorers disproportionately, on both sides. McGrady is, first and foremost, a scorer. On any given night, he typically takes more jump shots / free throws than almost anyone else on the court. So, in that sense, it effects him more.
I don't buy the whole depth perception thing. Like someone's already pointed out, even if it's true, we can use it to our advantage, because we can practice on it daily it and get used to it; for the visiting teams, they don't have this advantage, only disadvantage. We should close the game by half time before they get used to the unique "depth perception" thing. So, why complaining??? I don't see visiting teams complaining.
Visiting teams love going to the Toyota Center. It means they get to play against a hobbled Rockets team without one or both of its stars and pull out a W. What year is this again?
Why do so many people write "effect" when it should be "affect"... Also, why do we have an arena that was recently built and that seems to cater to a lot of needs, but that cannot be consistently filled despite having two superstars and that apparently, even if close to capacity, does not provide the best atmosphere in the league?? What the heck is our organization's problem?
Do you have the numbers per season on the website? It would be interesting to see if they getting worse or have been consistant It is a bit telling . . . interesting to say the least Not to be a 'hater' but could these numbers correspond with the people getting sick of him . . .as the home crowd more and more get discouraged with him . . . his numbers reflect it? Wow, what a logic. Since he takes more shot there than anyone else, shouldn't he be the first one to get used to it? Loosers can always find excuses.
Looking at this Graph . . . the only place this 'Depth Perception' issue Consistantly shows up is free Throw Shooting. His 3 pt shooting has actually increased Rocket River
OH, I guess other arenas around the league have been giving Tmac depth perception problems too since his FT numbers has been consistently worse on road too. I guess unlike most people, Tmac doesn't get used to perception, he actually turns worse, since his numbers in TC is on decline by the year. Oh, I guess he developed some perception problem in Orlando too? Oh, and other scorers around the league must having horrid numbers in TC all the time since they only play a couple games a year there. Tmac isn't the only scorer you know. The way people pick and choose numbers, it's unbelievable.
