Tmac will do anything to get rid of his First Round Virgin status, and who better to break his cherry than the consecutive NBA world champions.

I went and looked at their forum site and a lot actually seemed to like it.

    http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=115625

-I would consider it. he would be a good backup for Ron and Kobe. Question would be if he would want to come off the bench, if he is willing to take a massive pay cut (I believe he earned over 20 million last season), and is he going to actually give an effort for once.

    -Now we're talking.

-Interesting. If we can get him cheap I guess there is nothing to lose...

-if he can really get back in shape and stay healthy, i wouldn't mind him for minimum. He can be a solid pg in triangle.

-To have McGrady and Odom come off the bench? This would be unfair to other teams.

    -I would love that

-The guy should have made more than enough money in his career, if he wants a shot at a ring, while living the LA lifestyle, just take the vet minimum. He would be a big upgrade at backup SG/SF over Shannon and Luke.

-this is a no brainer if the cost is low

-Honestly, if T Mac wants MLE, then give it to him

Although, there are also people who don't want him
-Lets be honest here tho..TMac did suck it up to close the season

-A few months ago I would have been all for this. But after his showing with the Knicks, I'm convinced he's done. He put up D-Fish type of numbers with D-Fish type of minutes but with abysmal shooting percentages (under .300 from 3, under .400 overall). T-Mac is all name, no game.

-horrible signing. this guy will be complaining when he's not getting crunch time minutes over kobe and fish. no thanks.

Overall, i think most would be happy to do it.

IMO, i don't think the lakers should sign him, he is done

The Knicks wouldn't give Tmac the MLE why would the Lakers, they're a smarter organization than the Knicks. With his knees it's going to be a hard sell for TMAC to convince anyone to sign him to a 3/4 year MLE deal.

just because the rockets dont want him doesnt mean another team, especially the lakers, would not give him a contract.

i dont see anything wrong with free agents making a beeline to a contender. that's what bosh, jj, amare, etc are doing. you're all just hating coz tmac might win a ring with the lakers while the rockets might just barely break into the playoffs again. just the way it happened with ron.

now if DM somehow managed to assemble a very talented team, would you turn away players who'd sign for the minimum, especially if it means it would make the rockets better?

    just let it go.

LOL another one who wants to ride Kobe's success!

After Artest, Tmac also wants to go the easy way.

Well, Laker fans are the dumbest in the league, so it doesn't matter.

Although I don't really need another reason to hate LA, I would love for this to happen.

Lakers will be unbeatable next year IF:

T-Mac signs with the Lakers AND if they Odom for Mo Williams.

    Bynum / Mbenga
    Gasol /
    Artest / McGrady
    Kobe / Brown
    Williams / Fisher

Given Bynum's injury history and William's tendency to choke in playoff games, uh, no. Not to mention Odom is another part of the length trump card of the Lakers.

I can see tmac fitting for his offense, but his defense would not be a fit at all. I really don't think LA needs more offense, but more defense. They need another guy like Ariza really.

    Don't see it happening.

    Counter this foo

    Bynum / Taco
    Gasol / Odom
    Artest / McGrady
    Kobe / Brown
    Fisher / Farmar

Injury reserves: Vujajic, Walton, Powell, and a 2nd rounder (possibly a center).

They could also sign Miller, or Shaquille O'Neal.

There's a big difference between guys wanting to join a team that has come close to a championship to help them over the hump, and a former so-called "superstar" wanting to ride the coattails of a team that has already shown they can win a championship without him, twice.

MerGady doesn't want Ron to hog all the shower secks.

Honestly I don't think MG will play or have enough to really contribute to the Lakers. He'll either be too (mentally) injured or just lazy. If the Lakers 3peat next year, they will do so despite MerGady.
