no elevation because 1) as you said, no defenders to shoot over and 2) apparently, he changed his shot so they arent so flat. if you watch previous seasons, you'll see his ugly flat shot. He wanted some arc so he decided not to elevate. whether or not this is true, im not sure but thats what it looks like here.
Too bad they didn't make much eye contact with other players either.. it's not like everyone was chilling in a big group and tmac was all alone.
Guys, there's a difference between a set shot and a jump shot. The set shot is typically taken from 3 point range, especially on open threes. This vid isn't any indication of a lack of athleticism or an indication that he still has it.
I rarely get on to people for starting redundant or pointless threads but I wil right now. We have already seen quite a few videos of McGrady doing as much or more than he did in this one. He's probably been able to shoot spot up jumpers since last Spring. We've already seen him working out, playing pickup games and doing a half-speed spin move. Was anyone really unaware of the fact that he can hoist up jumpers in a shoot-around? Unless it's an all out sprint, a dunk or at least an explosive move to the rim he isn't showing anything he hasn't shown for months.
For those of you that say there's no elevation... you guys have seriously got to watch more behind the scenes basketball.... Usually players don't elevate much in shootaround... it's a light shootaround for one... second... tracy never really elevates when he's in shootaround. People who have gone to Rockets games and seen McGrady pregame know this... I mean it's common to a lot of NBA players... Kobe does the same thing.
You people are damn funny. The guy is shooting 3s with no effort. He is bored, etc. You can say nothing from that video expect that he is able to shoot and make some 3s. When you say about positives no one is talking about it because you can't see much from that video. But when you are talking about negatives people can see a lot. So posts like no elevation, he is not close etc are DUMB. I am sorry, but let's be serious.
Since you are rookie and have only 2 posts I am sure that is not true. Now, is it likely? Probably. Feign said they will have a FULL practice on Monday and they will re-evaluate Tracy after that.
And... (Adelman said again he has no timetable in mind yet. Cleveland is as good a guess as any. -- Jonathan)
This video doesn't tell you anything except that T-mac is practicing and warming up with the team. NO more no less. Who knows what's going on - but the Rockets don't see him as a complete cancer or they would tell him to stay home. The fact he is practicing with the team means that he's still part of the team. I really do think Adelman is looking at it from a coaching standpoint - in that he's being cautious to avoid a repeat of last year and to avoid a repeat of the Chris Webber fiasco.
I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish but STEVE NOVAK was one of the best Pre-Game shooters of all time....ALL TIME!!!
Good post. Thank you. People just want to find anything to jump on the lets bash t-mac bandwagon. I for one support t-mac, he is a member of the Houston Rockets, and until the day he is not Ill keep supporting him. I want him to come back and play great and possibly help this team into a playoff surge. Everyone that is knowledgeable with our current situation knows that we are lacking a closer, a scoring threat who will drive and create shots for others. Without Yao or T-mac this has been nearly extinct this season, except for some bright spots when we are knocking down our 3's.
That's true. Either people are hating or are just too excited. And yes, Tracy McGrady is still a member of this team. And it is even possible that he will be back playing for this organization. Maybe even likely. I think a healthly Tracy McGrady, pain free is going to help us. How much does he have left in the tank? I don't know. That is yet to be seen. But he can help guys like Ariza, Chase to develop. People say we don't need him because it is a season just to get some guys expirence and make them better. Do you think they get better playing alongside Shane Battier?
I hate to nitpick but this is absurd. Ariza got to play with the 2nd best SG of all time who is also the most fundamentally sound, competitive and probably the smartest player in the game today. What the hell is he going to learn from Tslack that Kobe didn't already teach him?
Please for the love of god tell me you're kidding, and you're not actually this stupid... It's amazing to me how many people fall for the media-manufactured drama. Even Battier's interview didn't convince you that there is no bad blood between McGrady and the Rockets? Have you let Fran Blindburry become your one trusted source on basketball goings on?
Kobe is an incredible player, but I would definitely not call him the smartest player in the game. He's got a high bball IQ for sure, but there's a good handful of players with better ones. They just don't all necessarily have the talent, athleticism, or work ethic to make the same package as Kobe (although a couple have put together an even better package). In fact, as much as I know I will probably be blasted for this because of his current standing with the team, and his recently poor shooting %es, I think McGrady has a higher bball IQ than Kobe. The problem is that most of his on-court intelligence is just a result of natural talent to McGrady, and it's probably not something he'd be very good at teaching.
