Great players compare championships when defining and comparing legacies, NOT by whether or not they could get out of the first round.

How does he have so many sympathetic fans?

He's like Khloe Kardasian before Khloe Kardasian

We aren't even talking about seriously contending. If T-Mac was a seriously contending, we wouldn't even been talking about first round exits, we would be talking about WCF and Finals. Again, we are not talking about deep playoffs success, which is the only place his arguments any damn sense. We are only talking bout the first round of the playoffs.

The die hard fans of T-Mac are the ones who don't care about winning. They see flashy numbers and they are happy.

So are you going to put all the blames on him for not carrying the team to the second round?Let's break his playoff performance as a Rocket year by year:

    1. 04-05, Tmac played great, averaged 31+7+7, 46% shooting, but Dallas was a better team(58 win team that year), won the series even when Dirk average 21 and shoot 35%. Besides, Cuban made the league to get some BS calls on Yao, who got into foul trouble almost every single game.

    2. 06-07, he played poorly in the 4th quarter and clutch time, that's on him. But that year, we were short handed, only had 4 quality players, Tmac, Yao, Alston and Battier, the rest are G-leaguers.

3.07-08, he didn't play great, but very good, didn't show up in several 4th quarters. But that year, Yao was injured, even Alston was injured, Tmac himself was playing with an injury, which is probably the reason why he lost all his athleticism the following year.

I understand if we were a loser organization, but this an organization that's been extremely successful before he step foot here.

Like we had Hakeem Olajuwon, a player who was so much better than Tmac, than I think they don't even belong on the same planet

    in the same solar system

    in the same universe

    in the same dimension

Fake Rockets fans making stupid excuses for a superstar who didn't live up to his talent and contract

Thank you so much James Harden , you have erased Tmac from Houston Rockets recent history

I absouletly agree, however, he had the best center in the NBA durring his tenure with us, so he just basically contradicted himself.

which shows how unfortunate he was given his talent and skill level. Very similar to Derrick Rose, the difference is Tmac was healthier than Rose, but Tmac's teammates were less healthy.

I'm not in the business of feeling sorry for a hall of fame talent who was paid Max Salary and has an army of player only fans only rivaled by Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin
who can't get the job done

Glad Morey DUMPED him to the Knicks

    Are you?

Nope, T-mac was like a Carmelo Anthony, just pad empty stats and does nothing to help the team. Everything he does was simple overrated. Anyone these day can average 30ppg with the green light. Look at russell, the dude is trash shooting at 40% and still managed to get 30ppg. If you keeps on shooting your stats will show it.

I hope he was traded earlier in the summer of 2008 for Billups and Prince, rumors were Morey made the deal, but Les denied it. I don't feel sorry for him, he has like 100 million dollars, just saying he is not a playoff choker.

the MAIN REASON we got Tmac was to WIN A NBA TITLE

We could have lost 3 playoff first round series with Steve Francis

In the end he was really great some games and won, then was bad other games and lost and his role players were blamed. The dude was just too inconsistent, he relied on his jumper so much...even when it was off. That one step inside the 3pt line jumper. He never really added to his game like the greats do. And then came the injuries.

To be fair, we probably won't make playoffs in all those 3 years if we had Francis rather than Tmac.

Can you tell me why this guy has so many sympathetic fans?
It's like a Charlie Brown Christmas every time he loses in the playoffs

Like when Khloe fans feel bad when her 3rd NBA player boyfriend cheated on her with multiple women

That's a wrong assumption because we were the 7th seed with Francis/Yao

not a crappy 8th seed team

But you can keep making excuses, History WILL NEVER CHANGE.
