1. This doesn't deserve to be a different thread. I think we have 3 threads about Mac and that post could have been put there, and maybe should have been. 2. It is unbelivable how quickly people forget about things. You guys screamed M-V-P last season in Toyote Center when he had the ball in his hands. Forgot? 3. We cannot really get anything better for him. We have nothing to lose, we know he is working his butt off, so maybe it will pay off. The surgery was on the good part of the knee and he wasn't missing all that much cartilage.
The evidence has been laid out and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten, and beaten. And beaten. The difference in opinions comes from how one interprets the evidence. Claims that "he will ruin chemistry" or "he cannot help this team" are better made by actual coaches and teammates rather than arm-chair GMs. It has been said many times that TMac COULD help this team. I don't care how much you hate him or how bad his attitude is, the fact is that he COULD help this team.. especially if we lose Wafer. This topic was thoroughly addressed in the thread talking about the Yao Ming situation.. we need another guy who will command double-teams. Either we keep TMac and hope for the best, or trade him and do the same. Whining about it isn't going to help things.
I've said before that some fans have the same memory as a goldfish. Not that I really expect it to happen, but if TMac comes back healthy (if he isn't traded) and puts up numbers like he used to, the fans that are kicking him now will be back on his bandwagon. As for me, I remain neutral. I'm not going to hate on the guy, but I don't really expect him back in full form and think it benefits the Rockets more in the long run to trade him.
numerical analysis... blah blah... chemistry killer... blah blah... his history... blah blah... NBA Live 09... blah blah... man, f*** that! none of that s*** matters! the future isnt solely based on the past! hes working his a** off now and thats what im looking at. tmac of year 09-10 not any other year
people like to bring that up and sometimes also mention Stockton's 2 month recovery but it's 3 months now for T-Mac and he was only cleared for pool work last week. That's OK though. He has plenty of time to be on schedule. They said it would take 6 to 12 months. When next season begins in late October he'll have had around 8 months for rehab. The major problem I see is will be the lack of explosiveness. Sure he might regain some of that but it might take him until the season after next for that happen. If Amare is the example to look at. Amare's success came about because he worked on his jump shot. A McGrady who drives to the basket even less than we have previously seen? We know he loves those heat checks and jump shots already. Someone's going to bring up his playmaking... Yes, we're going to love McGrady as the next Rafer Alston.
john stockton had arthroscopic surgery and was only expected to miss 6-8 weeks anyways. that was a different situation with tracy. http://www.spokesmanreview.com/stockton/storytemplate.asp?ID=kneeinjury i doubt tracy will be back by the first month. he'll most likely be back by the end of november, giving him about 9-10 months. and we should see what kind of player he is by the all-star break, if he still has game or his career is over.
that made me LAUGH. If you haven't noticed, this GARM is as anti TMac as it gets. There are only handful of TMac supporters here, everyone else pretty much looks past his highlights. And yes, I do want TMac back. Or at least someone who can create his own shot. Not a guy like Redd or Hamilton. This wouldn't be as critical if Yao didn't get taken out by fronting so darn easily.
BINGO. McGrady has never had any pride in his game. It's always ifs and couldawouldashouldas with him. Never will he ever take a good long look in the mirror. It's always going to be his "average teammates'" fault.
when kobe doesn't suceed (without shaq and before gasol), he threw his entire team under the bus and dissed his teammate straight up too , and then demanded a trade lebron just said he wished he could clone himself b/c his teammates suck, after game 3 v. orlando. im just sayin...
What is sad is that the guy is such an unbelievable talent I believe that if he had his mind focused on truly helping the team win he could do it on one leg and a kickstand. His size, length and court vision are things that he will never lose. He has the physical tools to reinvent himself once (if) his athleticism is gone and be a very effective player. Of course, since there is no microfracture repair for laziness, selfishness and lack of heart we need to part ways with the guy. It's just too bad he never got it.
Im not anti Tmac, decided to give the guy a chance when he came here, and I was pumped. I don't find it strange that what happened in Orlando happened in Houston. I don't think its chance. Its him MO, and it wont win championships. The purpose of this thread as the title states, is asking for a objective reason, when considering all things why we should bring him back. I presented an arguments and if you look at the retorts in this thread against that, they are far and few between. Antisonic, exactly, I don't want a guy that sells out his teammates, that doesn't blindy choose us over the lakers (despite the odds) or that says put him with "Boston type talent and they win undoubtedly". What argument is made to refute all that stuff, how can it be justified, please tell me? As well, how much are some of y'all willing to forgive and forget. If we let the players do and say whatever they want, and we got to the finals, would it really be worth it? Would it be for the long term benefit of the Rockets, the NBA and the game?
Dei, dont know what context you are meaning to imply, however, I believe Clutch to be implicating that the numerical evidence alone is enough to warrant him not being back. I agree, however I am arguing the other reasons as to why.
I agree. We were not on McGrady last year when he help push the team to a 22 win streak and into the playoffs avg. around 25 a game. Give the guy a break. Give him one more season and if it doesnt work then trade
Yes, yes, and yes. Not to mention, I think Tracy has something to prove. If he even wants to be talked about (in serious trade talks) for 2010 or any other time, he has to prove he can play after this surgery. So even if his heart isn't all there, I think his work ethic will be, even if it's only for his sake. Just hope there's no problem with locker room/team chemistry when he returns.
When has having something to prove worked out for Tracy before. Because people have been criticizing him longer than this one year. He should have had something to prove for instance after the Orlando vs Detroit mishap. I bet he sure wanted to silence his critics by getting out of the first round after that. I think he implied that would be pretty easy after being traded to Houston to be paired up with a dominant big man. Which later became not enough in comparison to what would happen if he were with the Celtics. Barf.
Of course, that numerical evidence is taken largely during a period in which he was injured. If Tracy comes back, we don't know exactly what to expect. But if he's fully healthy, I don't think it's reasonable to base your expectations on the 35 games he played last year when he was injured. I'd say somewhere between the '08-'09 and '06-'07 version is more reasonable. And a version of TMac like that (while still overpaid) is still better than any wing player currently on the Rockets roster. That said, TMac is still on the decline and still has motivation issues and I still believe it's in our best overall interest to trade him. But it's not a cut and dry issue as many would like to make it seem. A healthy McGrady can still help this team greatly. A team with players that are unable to get their own shot or is unwilling to shoot as the clock runs down (aside from Artest who has every offensive fault of TMac X10). It's just a matter of if it's worth it or not and if we can build a better team by trading his expiring contract.
Im not basing my predictions for Tracy off of this last year entirely. Im basing it off what happened in Orlando and his first few years here. Star players, aren't always winners Winners aren't always star players.
