I can accept that. Any team is better when more options are there to attack. However, when our offense went south, all teams had to do was front/double Yao and dare somebody else to score. There were many nights when Brooks and Artest didn't show up offensively. Scola is good, but he isn't a consistent 20 ppg scorer or anything, he's better suited as a good role player. We need a perimeter go to guy, and Brooks and Artest simply are not good or consistent enough to be that. I believe it will be easier for us to win with Tmac, because teams won't be able to front or double Yao as easily, and Tmac is a good enough at driving to the basket and finding cutters like Scola and Landry and finding people wide open for shots like Brooks, Battier and Artest. He can also run the pick n' roll with Yao, something Brooks and Artest were horrible at. No knock on them, its just not their strength. I don't think Tmac needs to dominate the ball so much, because that does make the Rockets a little bit more predictable to guard, same as going to Yao. I would prefer the ball to move around a little bit more, BUT when the offense isn't working or our supporting cast isn't shooting so well and making turnovers, wouldn't it be nice to be able to have one dominant offense inside, and one dependable and stable option on the perimeter? That is why I am saying it would make things easier for us. Tmac in a sense, calms the team down a little bit, the way Yao does for us. Without Tmac, Yao cannot always get the ball, so with him he can either get to him inside, or make a smart play from the perimeter.
What separates Tracy from the superstars now is that while Tmac may better playmaking skills overall, he lacks the patience and CONSISTENT ferocity of the others. Yes , as a fan myself, I know he has a bad back and all, but as a max salary player you should still try to give it your all on the court. Even when he was healthy he still didn't attack the basket as much as he should have. Simply put, he has won games for by himself many times, but his indecision about shooting/passing and chucking up three pointers have cost a lot of games too. As for the playoffs though, I think that he usually steps up his game and attacks the basket a lot more and shoots pretty efficiently. But unfortunately people won't care about those "stats" anymore because of his record.
I agree with the premise, not your solution as a ball player. 1. He is not a stable or efficient shooter 2. He is injured I think he has burned too many bridges......when the fans boo you at the home games, the owner recognizes that..... DD
Kevin Garnett had seven or eight consecutive first round losses. pau gasol did not get out of the first round till he got with the lakers. carmello anthony has never been out of the first round till this year.Till last year Kobe Brant has never been out of the first round without Shaq. Give the first round thing a break people. Those players are studs too. I wonder if their fans bashed them. Oh my bad this is the city that trades Carl Everett and Darryl Ward. Wow the hate is hardcore get the picture.
This is the best team roster that we have had in years but I guess that doesn't matter... These arguments are pointless. We finally played against a team that we matched up favorably with and that doesn't matter either. We still held the ball too much with both Brooks and Artest but we forget that too. We still took dumb shots periodically but that doesn't matter. The Jazz were the equivalent of the Supersonics for the Hakeem lead team. They just matched better against us... It happens. For you to just state a record as Tracy's but deny all the new variables that factor into this win lets me know that you have no point. If it was the same team from 1 to 12 maybe but it's not and you need to consider that. Numbers can be manipulated, just visit Wall Street!!!
Dude, it's even worse. The fans are booing VIDEOS of Tmac before the game even starts. We're not talking about boos for bad play in a game. We're talking about boos when the guy's face appears in an introduction video. And it's not a sprinkling of boos. Its is loud ass boos from all over the arena.
I'd like to say from what I've read so far in this thread, a lot of people are hoping T-Mac gets traded. That hope is as bleak as Yao getting traded. Tracy will go NOWHERE, no team wants him, and we'd get the bad end of the deal if we were to trade him for trash. Morey obviously still wants him here, most of all LES wants him here. So, that little hope, I don't know where it's going to come from, unless McGrady does something absolutely terrible in this off season, he won't even have to twitch about getting traded.
He is injured, lets see how he comes back. You don't just give up on talent like this that easily. When the Lakers fans began to boo Kobe at the start of the 07-08 season, Jerry Buss also began to think of the idea of trading Kobe, luckily for Lakers fans, Kobe proved them wrong, and they got the Finals last year and 64 wins this year. Mitch Kupchack, Lakers GM is the one that knew the Lakers couldn't possibly trade him and get better. Anybody can be booed at home...fans don't know as much about basketball as a GM or coach. When people are paying more attention to what he does off the court than on the court, then Tmac will get booed. He shouldn't be traded for the things he says though. When the GM or coach says something to a team owner, that has much more credibility than fans. If Les Alexander was worried about $, then maybe, but he's making plenty of $ of Yao, so I don't think he's too worried about what the fans think, but I'm not Les Alexander so I can't really say.
Yeah but they put effort throughout the entire season, and they don't get hurt that frequently. This is because they stay in shape and they don't show up for preseason 20 pounds overweight. And those players are still studs, Tracy Mcgrady is not a stud anymore!!!! Tracy was a stud when he was trying to prove that he was elite (and trying to get a huge contract)
Make me!! Its a free country, and if you don't like it, tough S***t! I'm stating facts. If you were a Lakers fan and they traded Kobe because fans were booing him, wouldn't you be pissed off?? I know I would be and I'm not even a big Kobe fan. Let the GM and coaches make the decisions, not idiot fans like you...
Sorry, I thought QFT meant something along the lines of Quit (expletive) talking...sorry for the misunderstanding, not too familiar with acronyms
My bad man, I'm not too familiar with all these acronyms...lol. You are not an idiot. My bad once again.
But its not the same, Kobe was booed because he wanted to be traded, to a team that had a chance to win a championship. Kobe felt that the lakers weren't doing enough to built a championship team. Tracy is booed because of many different things. 1. Being hurt consistently (aka weak) 2. Not a team player (didn't back his team the entire season, and then went on to pick the lakers to win it all even though the rockets might play them) 3. Can't be a leader the list can go on, and on. And Kobe is still an elite player, tracy isn't anymore.
Kobe has done many things that can be paralleled to Tracy. The main difference, as you all know is winning. The end result is what people judge you on. Kobe has thrown many teammates under the bus, yet he's considered a leader, when TMac is said to be worse. Kobe wanted a trade, Tracy has done the same in his career. Both shoot a lot of jump shots (yes, Kobe at a better %). Kobe even has a rape case under his belt, yet all is forgiven if you win ball games when it counts. The difference? He has won rings. If Tracy would have just sat out at the beginning of the season like Shane, he might have finally gotten that 1st round monkey off his back. He made the choice to play hurt and made it worse. If the true reason for this is because he wanted to hold it down while Shane got better, I commend him for that. If he did it for some other stupid reason, then I can't. I'm sure if he could do it again, he would have sat out at first and taken the heat initially. Hind sight is 20/20. Tracy has a chance next year. He has to make the best of it. Whether he comes back at camp or during the season. As long as he makes a positive impact, he might dispel some of those demons. As I've said before, ironically, "it's on him."
Yeah I'm not going to defend his work habit, but Carmelo Anthony's is equivalent to Mac's habit. It would still be a first round bust if it wasn't for Chauncey.Pau Gasol's work ethic only comes out in game seven against us.
