What's your problem with him? Did he injur or kill anyone in your family? Did he burn your house down? You just hate him because he has a lazy eye and he had one bad season. Just stop. You have more passion in hating him than you do with the rockets. I personally love the whole rockets roster, everyone on it, I don't bag on my players, ever. Even when Pippen was here.
some people here don't like facts, they like delusions. the best player in the nba? delusion. i like facts. there is no hating in facts.
Tmac should stay home. First of all, I can't help but think the team has sort of united since (because of?) his absence. There were some ugly rumors going around. Second of all, wtf have him travel when he should be home rehabbing?
IF Tmac was never all that great, why did teams ALWAYS double and triple team him like they do with Lerbon, Kobe, and Dwade?? Are you telling me, yall know more than 29 NBA coaching staffs?? We never said Tmac was better than them, but only that he as on their same level. Name one other player who can do things on the court like tmac?? When Tmac was healthy, he could do just about anything he wanted to on the court, basiclally being double teamed most of the time. He's 6'8, long, explosive, can knock down a 3 in your face, can finish with authority at the rim, can finish with either hand effectively, can make great passes and make Chuck Hayes and Andrew DeClerque look like decent scorers, and he can rebound and play defense. I think the only other wing players who fit into this mold is Kobe, Lebron, Dwade, and maybe Pierce and Roy. Thats it. However, Pierce and Roy both needed a deep, talented team to even get their teams into the playoffs, where as Tmac basically carried teams by himself, and made them competitive. I don't need to look at satats and numbers, because they've been thrown out there many times by many people. If you wanna blame, Tmac for not getting out of the first round all of those years then go for it. Try telling Michael Jordan that in 1986, where he averaged 49.5 ppg (including a 63 point game), and got swept by the Celtics. Not even the GREATEST PLAYER of ALL TIME could win a series without some talent. Tmac did as much as he could've done with the talent he's had around him. In Orlando, Grant Hill's injury and contract never allowed the Magic to put the right pieces around Tmac to succeed. With the ROckets, JVG would not bring another playmaker in to take pressure off Tmac, and Yao became injury prone when he became a force down low. I honestly believe that Tmac is one of the most unfortunate players the NBA has ever had, considering how much talent the man had, and could never catch a break in his favor in a team sense. He did EVERYTHING individually, but the team success never materialized. For those of you who blame Tmac for us not succeeding, then yall just don't know basketball, simple as that. Go try winning a pick up game somewhere with 4 other scrubs everyday, and see for yourself how hard it is to win games by yourself...its damn near impossible in the NBA.
your facts are pretty crap then based on this logic Yao Ming is in no way close to the top center in the NBA, Dwight easily owns him based on winning and playoff success
Get your facts straight, T-Mac is the best in the world. Yes, that is a fact. Look it up. He doesn't need those shiny action figures. How many of those guys made a Darfur documentary? Yeah, thought so. T-Mac = Best Basketball Player to ever grace this Earth. FACT.
Since when has a player attending a shootaround caused this much reaction from fans? The guy just hung out with his teammates (he is still a Rocket, after all, get over it), where's the harm in that? Do the players hate him so much that seeing him makes them lose their warm and fuzzy brotherhood feeling? Are they that mentally fragile? Uh, no. Stop making such a big deal out of this. I realize that T-Mac is a very polarizing figure, but this is making a mountain out of a molehill. Personally, I would welcome an effective and pain-free McGrady next year because I believe that it could only help the team. After all he's done in terms of keeping the ship afloat during some rough patches, all of this while he was nursing his chronic injuries, I think he deserves a chance.
uh, sorry tmacaroni here are the facts: Kobe is the MVP last year, Kobe has won NBA Finals and has been CLUTCH Dwade is the Finals MVP when they won LeBron James took his team to the NBA Finals tell me if I'm wrong, but your hero has never accomplished any of these. Oh Yao and Dwight haven't won anything. So this logic means they've done nothing either.
I know I'm fighting the losing battle. but stop this "But if he had" "In Orlando" "If he wasn't" we get it. you make excuses for him and hypothetically think that the excuses puts him on the same level as Kobe, LeBron and Dwade. The guy who gets 6 numbers wins the lottery, the guy who gets 5 numbers doesn't. It's ok to be a t-mac fan, but don't make excuses or say he's better than other players who've accomplished more.
Kareem accomplished a lot more than Dream, but I've heard you say that Dream was the greatest center of all times.
at least its a fair debate both champions both innovators for their position both stellar college stars both top 50 of all time both MVPs and Dream did this: ok, now you compare Tmac to Lebron, Kobe, and Dwade. list accomplishments please
That's not the point. You can't wait to see another Tmac thread to feed the fire that has already been started here at clutchfans. You don't see Hawk fans going "oh joe johnson is great but he's not kobe". I know i'm not going to make you or other people change their logic about Tracy, for w.e reason that being his lay eye, not telling rick about the surgery, not getting past the 1st round etc. Point is, he is still a rocket and he is still on the roster. Support your players until they are no longer here of they've retired (and that's optional). We all want a championship here on Clutchfans and bashing Tracy won't get us that, especially since he wants the same thing.
How in the world did a thread about Tmac attending a shootaround turn into an arguement about tmac being on wade/kobe/lebron's level? I swear, every thread that has the world "Tmac" in it will turn into a bashing thread.
Am I bashing Tracy or giving the posters a reality check on him? Dwayne Wade won a Finals MVP and beat the Mavericks, the same team the Rockets couldn't beat. On some other thread, people compared Tmac to Magic Johnson. He 'could have been'.. etc. Magic is the greatest PG of all time, MVP, Finals MVP, you name it. Is it bashing to say that no way he'd become Magic? The Yao fans initially didn't care about the Rockets, they've changed. The Tracy fans are delusional and like to throw other players names out there.. hey that sounds like tracy himself. Drexler, Magic, Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, Wade.. etc I mean who's next on the "Tracy was good as or better than" list? why do we care? Why do we care about Orlando? the absolutely most overrated period ever. It's not like Jordan with the Bulls or Clyde with the Blazers, nowhere close. In fact Tracy was better with the Rockets than he ever was with Orlando cause he showed he could play well with better players and work well with a coach.. at least JVG
I think Tmac's style was always the brute athletic game. Here's a near-fact (meaning it would be hard to argue): Kobe, in anytime through his career, was not as athletic as Tmac, and Tmac, in his "prime", 'could have' easily dominated Kobe. But his skill never improved as much due to his reliance on his physical gifts- meaning that not all players can just pull up strait for a shot with a defender on him without being blocked. Another issue with him was his lack of consistency. Now, however, the guy's strength is declining. He's probably going to come back as a better post-traumatic-surgery player than Brent or Grant Hill, but he's not going to be the Tmac a few years back. EVER (no duh). Also, I guessing that the reason lots of people critisize him is because of some of his actions on and off the court. The "It's on me" and the "If I had Shaq or Duncan" phrases can really offend teammates and fans alike, wether intentional or not.
Alright whoever compared Tracy to Magic isn't very smart. Magic is the best PG ever. Period. I never dwell in the past. Now if someone says "Tracy has never been elite", those are the kind of comments that bring up the "Orlando" argument. I've never comapared tracy to anybody, I actaully shy away from that talk because it's aparent that we'll never know. I feel like Clutchfans is divided into two groups, Tracy lovers and Tracy haters. Both don't help the cause. Can't we just support our team all in all?
Its not that simple. Should New York fans have supported Marbury this year? Of course not. Marbury was a cancer to New York this year and the Knicks are better off without him. The same can be said about McGrady and the Rockets this year.
