After watched Rockets' games for several years I started to dislike T-Mac. He is no longer super star level swing man (By "super" here I really mean super, he is still among the top in NBA, but definitly not super). And his mentality is really soft. Very self-centered. I still remember in one game where he shot poorly in first half (or first 3 quarters) and Yao played very well for those quarters. At the end of the games, T-Mac said to reporters: I didn't play well in the first half. Then he immediatelly changed it: "well not really, I was trying to get my big fella going". What a looser mentality. When you don't play well, just admit it.
This is one thing that really irks me and he always does it. When we are getting our buts whipped he has a cocky smile on his face as if to not give a damn or he thinks he is going to come back every time. Even my girlfriend mentions it to me, asking me why he always does that and then we get blown out. I didn't get to watch all of the game but i saw the replay and it looked like a slight tweak but then again none of us are trainers out there and could assess the injury. I have always believed T-Mac to be a bit weak and soft when it comes to things. He is an immense talent but anyone can see he doesn't have the kill instinct that Kobe has day in and day out. As much as I hate Kobe the person, the player he is, is another story and I have a lot of respect for his skill. As far as him playing different with Rafer not in there. I can't say it's for sure but maybe there is something to it. At times I honestly feel that T-Mac tends to take shots out of the system and flow of the game. It amazes me sometimes with his selection out there. Hey i could be wrong and RA tells him to take those kind of shots. Of course during this rough spell of games feathers are going to get ruffled but it's become a lot more clear that we are facing some major issues if these things are true.
I told my wife about tonight's big loss, and Tmac left the game in 3rd quarter. She said“ I told you long time ago, Tmac is just a sissy". Although I was mad with MacGrady sometimes, I never agreed on this with my wife until today. The truth really hurts.
Total speculation, especially since I didn't get to pay close attention during the first half (I was busy working), but: Tmac might be totally frustrated w/ the gameplan/teammates/both and decided he's just going to take all the shots he wants, everything else be damned. You could call it selfish or maybe Tmac believes that's the only way they're going to win. But combining Tmac's quotes before the game plus all the crazy hard shots (more then normal, even for Tmac) in Toronto leads me to believe this.
We should trade him while there is still time for a great player. He has a history of doing this. McGrady had pissed Weisbrod off by dogging it after the Magic started 2003-04 horribly. http://www.nbadraft.net/2007stateofthecaphouston001.asp
Never overestimate the heart of a loser. Never overestimate the heart of a loser. I know he has quite a few years left, but let's say McGrady never wins a playoff series. What are some of the greatest NBA players of all time (statistcially speaking) who never won a playoff series? Is there anybody who could arguably be considered one of the best players ever that never won a single playoff series? I can forget his series debacle against Detroit while in Orlando and even the series against Dallas after having a commanding lead. Game 7 against Utah last year was the kicker for me. We had the lead, the crowd, the momentum and nobody on that Jazz team could stop TMac from getting to the rack. They were in the bonus with six minutes left. Then, he stopped driving and started jacking up ill advised long distance fadeaways. We then became one of the 15% of all home teams to lose game 7. Sure, we could go on to win "multiple championships" as TM said in his first press conference in Houston, but the facts say otherwise. It's not about how you start a season or a series...it's how you finish. He has proven he can't finish when it's all on the line and there is no reason to think he is going to start now.
Glad to see some folks starting to come around. Dude's a pansy. I love his game, but I hate his mind. I will always stand by my team, but you get what you deserve. And that goes for McGrady never getting out of the first round, and the way the JVG/CD situations wer handled by management leading us to this point.
lol @ the title. Kevin Johnson's then Rudy T's words twisted to describe Tmacs less than epic career. Good Show
There are some fans that believe he quit on the magic in that series against detroit. If you remember it was game 5 in the first round and it seemed like they awarded the mvp trophy early that year. There is speculation that he was upset that the league awarded the MVP trophy to Tim Duncan. They say he was barely playing. (I didnt see that game) Just speculation....................................
This might not be the right moment, but I've never, EVER seen Kobe laugh or smile after a bad loss. The dude just gets down right pissed off.
LOL, actually I did play pee-wee soccer. I do like soccer, but honestly the MLS is more like a minor league.
he cried when they failed to make the finals a few years back. he had that determined look in his eyes. the next year, he and shaq won it. tmac cried last year after another game 7 loss......
exactly. The BIG BIG difference in McGrady and Kobe is that one goes out and perform without saying much while the other just talk. McGrady's all talk ever since he's been here. He knows how to get the media to buy into his cliched crap. The talk about bringing a championship to Houston The talk about turning Stromile into an All-Star The talk about how he can impose his will on a game The talk about how it's "all on him" last year against Utah Talk talk talk. Kobe? The dude just goes out and plays his ass off. Dwyane Wade? Goes out and plays his ass off.
ya, i will be honest, the MLS is not the best type of soccer around, but out of all the houston teams this one gives out their all, i respect that. tonight was just sad watching the rockets. yeah i've been playing soccer since i can walk that's why i was saying that it is a sport, i mean i tore my ACL, and MCL playing it and i'm still like 3 weeks away from playing, so yeah, that i say qualifies as a sport injury. lol back to the rockets though, i agree with the ppl around here saying the rockets dissgrased the throwback uniform tonight, just sad man. sad.
Not only that. When the Laker's got knocked out in 2003, Kobe bryant and Derek fisher were crying on the bench. Against the sonics in 2005-2006 when the laker's were playing woefully, kobe had a tear in his eye out of fustration. Kobe is very a passionate person. I think that's something Tmac should learn, to fire himself up.
