i shall try to stop myself from responding to the dude. calling a superstar "lucky" when he makes his shots is the stupidest thing i've ever heard.
it makes them feel better about their own lives. and he's a fine public speaker (most of these high school to nbaers are better public speakers than the college ones), his problem for you all is that he says whatever is on his mind with no filter. and he did impose his will in the 4th quarter, it was around a two point game before he started doing his thing.
Well, he really did. I still think sometimes he needs to watch what he says. This whole imposing his will thing is getting rather old. He admitted his shots weren't falling in the 3rd quarter and that he needs to have the same focus throughout the whole game. This was a collective win. Everyone contributed. Coach, please, for the love of God, give Novak some of Luther's minutes... please.
The latter half of the quote may not be the most humble thing in the world (hell, he's said that kinda thing almost word for word before), but I hardly see how it's "cringe" worthy. It's not that big of a deal, and it has some truth to it. I mean it's not the first time lately that he's stepped up towards the end of the game.
the OP also took the quote out of context. he said he shot bad for 3 quarters and he took responsibilities for his bad shooting. he admitted he needs to focus better throughout the game. but oh, he didn't put those quotes in there . as usual, some posters on here, along with the media, takes things WAY OUT OF CONTEXT.
There is a difference between being a bad public speaker and this... <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zKh0zaXf6js&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zKh0zaXf6js&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
impose my will: Means that you going to do, you you want to do, and not what the defense force you to do. T-Mac is one of the few that can score where he want to score and when he want to score. He is a gift player with a lot of skills, and when he give max effort he cant take over the game not only scoring like a lot of superstar but the overall game, passing, defending, attacking to creating opportunities for others commanding attention to free teammates etc. The only problem is that to be able to do that over double and triple teams he will need to spend a lot of energy and at this stage of his career he have to pick and chose when to take over, he is no more a young player. Others can try their best giving max effort, but don't have the athletic ability or skills to do what they want, when they want. That why he is spacial and why he make a lot of money.
You don't seem to understand. The point about McGrady not being the most articulate guy in the world is a good one. EVERY star player in the world thinks they're god's gift to their sport. There are probably at least 15 people in the NBA who genuinely believe they are the best player in the league. It's just that some are better at hiding it than others. Sometimes it's a little annoying when McGrady says something like this, but it's not like it's that big of a deal. Besides, it works both ways for McGrady, which only goes further to emphasize the point. When he's playing poorly, he doesn't try to hide it. This year alone, he called himself out on more than one occasion. He said he didn't deserve to be in the All-Star game, even while he was still getting fan votes. He also said flatly, amidst a major winning streak, that he "sucked".
It's a lose-lose situation for T-Mac. If he takes over the game then he's called selfish. If he doesn't perform then he's called a quitter. IMO what he says really doesn't matter as long as the team ends up with a W. HAHA I was thinking the same thing. Luther does look like he's struggling. He needs to loosen up and have some confidence, he hesitates too much.
u tellin me....its getting sickening................ i am the main one bashing the guy most of the time............but he stepped up when it counted most and almost delivered a triple double...... the garm is very sickening at times
