i never said they were. i was just replying to your post that states he doesn't need to advance for you to get him props. the only way to judge if he elevates his game is primarily by stats (b/c it will show in how he plays). there's no question tmac goes all-out in the playoffs.

    Tmac is not a superstar.

I love T-MAC but the guy doesn't have that fire or that consistant extra-gear. Maybe his body is broken down, I dunno what it is, but Superstar caliber players to me are the Jordans and Olajuwon's....

Flame me all you want but Kobe Bryant is a superstar.

they can "impose" their will effortlessly and not talk about nonsense about, me me me me...

I disagree. Listen to his interviews this year. He always gives his team mates credit. He's said they picked up the slack when he was struggling.

I mean, he doesn't use it everytime, but you can tell he's developing into an overall player with the way he talks about them.

Oh, and T-Mac1, I got into it with a member of the Houston Chronicle blogs. He stated that T-Mac always disappears come playoff time. I showed his his playoff stats... that discussion ended there.

His playoff numbers are great. Mix that with his development into an all-around player and man... watch out.

wow the power of marketing has spoken.

I'm not denying his importance to the team and the league, but he's not on a superstar level.

I think it all hinges on this years playoffs. PUT UP OR SHUT UP. I hope he can dig down deep and carry us like Hakeem did.

truly agreed. but let's remember, hakeem is top 5 in some people of ALL-TIME players. hakeem is an icon, a revolutionary, a hero... it's hard for anybody to be compared to him, let alone be like him.

but like you said, if tmac can carry this team past the first round this year, he might just finally earn his houston rocket colors. but if not, i want to see him go down fighting till the very last second. if he can put on a performance similar to that dallas series, i don't think anyone on this board can blame him.

All this T-Mac bashing reminds me of one my buddies back in the early 90s, telling me that the Rox will never win a championship with Hakeem, that we need to trade him, etc.

How did that all work out? I forgot.

The problem i have with this statement is, he didn't impose anything. His jumper fell and thats about it.

Tmac is the way that he always is! He is not going to change. You have to live with the way he is if you continute to watch the rockets' games.

That is exactly is the message of this thread. Too bad there's too many touchy comets fans in this board and reacts with the typical no-brainer reply, "you idiot yadaydaya da..."

lock this up Clutch before this thread makes another thousand hits.

Guys, you got to understand that neither Tracy, nor Yao has been to the college, so you just need to take their comments with a laugh.

FIRST, if you guys didn't know t-mac is in the top 10 for percentage chance of getting into hall of fame, around 86 % I believe.

SECOND, T-mac may have never gotten out of first round, but he is the most underrated playoff performer. In fact, rational writers or writers that bother to research realize that T-MAC is in fact one of the best playoff performers in NBA HISTORY. He averages over 5 assist, 5 rebounds, 20 points per game in playoffs. But TALENT has never been there to help him. Orlando, raptor (carter?? T-mac never had a chance to shine), Houston (the whole team choked last year guys, but t-mac was pretty much the only one who didn't).

By the way, I know you haters THINK t-mac lost his first step, but I remember against the nuggets game, he just easily blew by najera and dunked impressively. He easily blew by KEVIN DURANT in the sonics game whiles INJURED for a clutch layup shot which secured our win. He literally BLEW BY all dallas players when we played against dallas. He was making incredible amounts of inside shots.

People here need to get their facts right. O if you didn't know, alley-oops requires a big first step either in order to get open, and t-mac is easily one of the best alley oopers in nba.

Yes it all comes down to playoffs, but in the playoffs, its about the team, not t-mac. T-mac has proven enough in the playoffs with his average playoffs stats, its whether the team can do it. I know scola can do it because he has helped argentina win before, so he will definately step up.

really my whole problem is your argument throughout the thread is inconsistent its nearly been 20 pages. Im sick of people bashing him without any real consistent thought pattern through out an argument. Its really quite simple his problems. But threads like this basically bring out the Ill analyse every little thing about Tracy Mcgrady and then destroy him.

The other problem I have is why Tracy Mcgrady has to cop all this crap from BBS when Yao rarely cops anything for the same problems. You can say all you like about attitude but against the Celtics I honestly don't think he had room to breathe, let alone take shots. I've watched the game three times now and the defence was ridiculous. Its just unreasonable to assume he shots 33 shots. I noticed you talked about Team ball and how we should talk about the Rockets. Flat out noone turned up to the Celtics game. Mcgrady was punished by multiple double triple traps, I counted 5 posessions out of alot of posessions where he got single coverage that probably lasted only 5-7 seconds each.

Have we seen any threads bashing Yao after this pathetic performance against the cupcake team Minnesota last time he played them? Didn't think so.

Its not that your arguments aren't right they don't follow any flow what so ever. Its like someone defends T-mac on topic and then you follow it up with whatever comes to your mind. It went from his soft to his not an elite player anymore. What does elite player have anything to do with the fact that he imposed his will to the Minnesota game?

People bash everything about him, what he says, what he does on the court even god damn what he wears. Regardless of what he actually did that day.

so um when exactly does it mean to impose your will on the game?

Yeah I dont understand why there is a double standard here either. I mean most of the negative things that are said about Tmac can be applied to Yao.

T-Mac just said an ordinary sports cliche that stars are expected to say when they do something good in the clutch.

I don't know why people hate on T-Mac when he tries to take over the reigns as leader and exuberates some form of confidence in himself...much rather him saying these things than the, "I am going to retire at 30" comments he was making last year.

Htown and jerry36 you all are kobe / lebron lovers. Why?

Kobe dropped 53 on grizzlies today but they lost, even at home. One reason why they lost, Kobe had 1 assist.

T-mac? 9 assist. Ill take t-mac over kobe anytime. T-mac did not put up big numbers when we played against lakers, but we still blew them out in the end. Why? Sharing basketball.

Now you see the damn difference? T-mac is not good at interviews, but he sure is a better teammate than kobe, and will always be a better teammate.

T-mac is may not work as hard as kobe, but he sure hell plays smarter than him. So ill take T-mac over kobe anytime.

The debate stops here. T-mac is a good teammate, so we have no need to compare him with the likes of Kobe.

    BINGO !!

T-Mac can carry a less tallented team farther than Kobe can !!

    Dont believe me
Kobe minus Gasol 5-5 Kobe their best player.

T-Mac minus Yao 13-3 Yao our best player.

T-Mac is a much, much smarter offensive player. I also believe he demands more attention than Kobe.

Go back to Dallas game when Kobe dropped 53 they never doubled him.
    Dallas doubled T-Mac all game.

    CASE CLOSED.
