it was a blowout, and i'm sure he does want to extend the streak. but the last 2 games that i've watched, he hasn't forced the issue b/c the game is tight and he has made the right plays for the most part. he's nowhere the all-around player that lebron or wade though, nor ever will be. but he's a better scorer than wade. v. lebron scoring-wise, it's debatable.
I'm not saying that either, I just wanted to post the vid. haha. I've seen Lebron's stats this year and there's no doubt in my mind that he's having an epic season. This streak though, is amazing. Especially since OKC has nobody on that team except him and Westbrook. Not to mention they were horrible last year. If Lebron is playing on god mode than Durant must be playing on like freaking Optimus Prime mode.
you forgot a guy named jeff green, and they have one of the best defenses in the NBA. you put a great scorer + a top 5 defense, you're going to have a pretty damn good team.
They have a incredibly young team that has developed very early but it is very apparent that most of their success comes from the terrific play of KD.
He's only 21 and is already a star in the league He is already a great scorer and rebounder, within a few years he can easily become a better defender and passer than what he currently is. It doesn't seem irrational to think he can get to the level of a Wade or possibly Lebron.
I've been wanting to say this for a long time and I might get flamed, but here it goes: The Thunder remind me of the old Bulls teams with MJ. Obviously they are much younger/less mature/less talented, but the formula is the same: 1. Ride your great scorer most of the time 2. Play very tough defense, especially in the 2nd half 3. Have a multi-faceted sidekick (Westbrook) The Thunder need size in the middle. I like Ibaka's development this season, but he isn't big enough at C. If they get a shot-blocker/rebounder to man the post, they will easily have the best defense in the NBA. I've watched the NBA for 30+ years and don't remember a team this young being so good on defense. When they age some and are able to clear the boards better, this team will contend. When people think of the 1990s Bulls, most only think of MJ. Same for the Thunder now with KD getting all the credit. But their defense is why the Thunder are able to win so many games.
exactly. i think it applied to us under JVG. outside of tmac and yao, the supporting cast was terrible and yet we were perennial 50+ game winners during the reg. season b/c we were top 5 on the defensive every year. durant was pretty damn good last year too but the thunder still lost 50+ games. durant has definitely taken his game up another notch this year, but their defense is the primary reason they have a chance at a 50 win season (a very impressive turnaround). this year, they're giving up around 96ppg on 43.5% fg. last year, they gave up 104ppg on 48% fg. if their defense is as bad as last year, durant's effort would be futile right now. and you're right APO, if the thunder can somehow get a defensive big man (like a haywood), this team can be a top 3-4 team in the west. and let's not forget about westbrook. if this guy EVER finds a consistent jumper, he can be a top 2-3 PG in this league. when his jumper is on, he brings the all-around game that few PGs in today's game can bring. this team is on the rise and will be contenders very soon if they can keep this core and add a defensive big.
well, I would put Kobe a close 2 because in the playoffs, he's the best closer. Durant behind Carmelo is about right.
What the hell did George Karl draw up prior to that play? Karl: Hay guyz, we haz final pozeshun Billups: I can has final shot? Melo: No I want final shot! Billups: OK, I will dribble nowhere and then pass to you, LAWLZ! Melo: I will schut teh ball and win teh cheezeburger....err, game!!
IMHO Durant's already passed Wade behind Kobe and LBJ. C'mon man, the guy already plays two way bball. Sure Wade sees the floor better, but Durant's already the better scorer, better defender (6'11 vs 6-4) and he certainly gets more rebs. Its: 1.LBJ 2.Kobe (if healthy) 3. Durant 4. Wade 5. Carmelo
ttthhattss not good..... Remember back in the day when it was 1. Kobe 2. T-mac (if healthy) 3.Lebron t-macs glory days of 2002-2005. Is this where kobes take a toll on his career and we see a steady decline to kobes career?
Ah, he's had a glorious run as the best player in the world. Time to hang up his cape, and let someone else run the show.
Durant's Scoring...My GOD Ever since we held him to 13 in mid December, this dude has been going off (20-9 record during that time): http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=3202 30 38 30 40 35 31 31 25 27 40 30 35 30 36 29 31 30 34 28 30 45 33 30 29 33 25 36 32 36 Search function isn't working for me tonight, so forgive me if there has been a recent thread abbout him.
