I would spend hours and hours going through the Sears catalog earmarking pages. Each year I was disappointed because my mom shopped in Feb and would only get stuff deeply discounted. The toys I always wanted but never got were: Demolition Derby: The other thing I really wanted was a Scuba GI Joe. I did get (and still have) a large hot wheel collection with the super charger, speedometer and ram rod and of course all the red line cars and buttons. And a tonka that was never played with outside - still in the box. Yea - I know that is just wrong but I was so proud out that. My wife still kids me about that. But I never got the GI Joe or Demo Derby...
Around 1981 I was begging my parents for one of these... They claim they spent 2 years searching for it in stores and never found it... They said it was always sold out. Now that I look back on it, I think they just didn't want to waste the money on it. If I ever have a son, it is the first thing I will buy him...

I had the original super soaker 2000 as a kid with two water barrels and 3 tipped nozzle for various sprays me? always wanted this:
I'm still a bit miffed at my parents for not getting me one of these: It was all I wanted for Christmas for two years straight, and but they refused.
I grew so quick, was like 5'10 by 6th grade. Maybe that plays into it? Never got one of those power wheels cars you could sit in and drive.
My prized toy possession along w/ Optimus Prime. I didn't have many toys and my parents didn't have much money at the time, so I was surprised when they got me this. Two toys I knew were way too expensive and would never get: MASK truck Spoiler GI Joe aircraft carrier Spoiler Luckily I found these on the same website, pretty good list here: Retrojunk 15 Best Playsets Can't remember if this was expensive but I really wanted a Robotech toy too. In fact, after mentioning this I'll probably go get one now for nostalgia's sake. Spoiler
I had that Mask truck also the Voltron set posted earlier. I wasn't much into GI Joe as a kid, but my neighbor had this huge GI Joe boat and between the two of us we had a crapton of Lego's.
Who here asked specifically for Legos for Christmas/Birthday and then got those CHEAP ASS KNOCKOFF MEGABLOCKS? Good God I loathe Megablocks to this day.
That's exactly what I had. Except mine was orange. It did a pretty good job, easy to charge and decent range.
